Alexandra cursed, adjusting the dead weight on her back.
People sent her glances but it was nothing new.
She got used to it long ago, even if this was different. She piggybacked Leona.
"Why did I make her body out of granite?" She mumbled to herself. The body was heavy and lifeless, like a drunken friend after a wild party, but much worse. "Well, that was at hand."
The streets became crowded.
The real parties only began as the campus switched between weekdays and the weekend.
It would have been interesting to visit one.
"Parties, huh?" Together with Leona. "No, she would have hated it, she's too shy and introverted. But it would have been hilarious."
The body started to slip and she had to adjust her again.
Leona's chin found its place on the back of her neck, and her breath tickled her nape.
It was almost like she was still here.
"I should have made a copy of that stupid System to take over her body when she's away." She realized, annoyed by the oversight. "And I'll have to fix that one too."
It was her first programming project, although she used what she was familiar with, magic.
And that was quite different from Cobra or B++, or any other language the humans used.
She translated the concepts into ancient runic spells that drove the Mana around.
The basics came from an LLM, a new AI chatbot she found.
Even if it wasn't an ideal starting point, it was open source and free. And it was almost as good at programming as herself, — which means, not at all. But the code wrote itself.
"Why did she say it was buggy? I haven't found anything wrong with it." At first glance, everything worked fine. She should have beta-tested it before giving it to Leona though.
"Of course, there would be bugs, it's an early test." She comforted herself, tightening the grip over Leona's ankles. "But she had to depend on it in a foreign world."
Losing herself in thought, Alexandra's mind wandered between programming and her feelings.
Why did she send her away this early? Why did she say all those things?
"We should have walked home together." It could have been fun.
Once they went into talking, it felt like they would never stop.
But then things got a little awkward, and she panicked.
It would have been so nice to walk a little longer. Explore the campus and then the city, and show her the apartment Alexandra rented. Talk until they both get sleepy and tired.
Then, as the crowning of a long day, tuck her heavy body in bed, and transport her away.
She wouldn't have to carry her home now, gaining even more attention than usual.
"Why did I get scared? And all that nonsense about me being the evil one." That discussion was in ruins and the simplest solution was to send her away.
But why did this happen? Why couldn't she talk about her feelings?

No, the correct question is, what are those feelings?
And why? When?
Is it because their minds became interconnected?
No. Delving into her memories piqued her interest, but the feelings existed before that.
It felt like they were there even before they met. It was almost like fate doing its tricks on her.
"Bullshit. I'm the Goddess of Luck. I am fate, playing games on others, so what was this about?"
It fascinated and frustrated her at once. Leona was an enigma for her.
She was this average shy girl with that strange aura and doing weird things.
So what? Why did she have the urge to help her, get close to her, and then keep her distance?
It made no sense.
She never fell in love, not even with the Demon Lord, so what about this girl?
Why would she fall in love with someone so simple, grey, and average, after she became a literal deity?
Leona was not rich or strong, and the most interesting part of her was how uninteresting she was. So what if she fell in love, without a good reason? Why is she scared of it?
"Isn't that what people of both worlds do all the time? They fall in love, make mistakes, and move on." She got home to her apartment and finally set down the petrified body.
Looking at her didn't do much, but thinking about their discussion had her heart racing.
"What is wrong with me?" She moaned into the empty room and dropped on the couch. "It's all because of that random connection. Once I make her another body, I'll sever it."
As she decided, the connection holding them together disappeared without a warning.
It was there one second and gone in the next.
"What?" There was a strong vacuum of emotions inside her.
No, only the vacuum, the feelings were still there, and stronger than ever.
They raged inside her, demanding her to restore it.
"I didn't do anything." Alexandra jumped up, tapping down her body as if looking for something.
"What? Why? Where did it go?"
It was so sudden and inexplicable that even comprehending it took her a few minutes.
She didn't understand how that bond came around, and the disappearance slapped her in the face.
"What happened to her?" She rushed to the petrified body, but Leona's soul wasn't in there.
She started to panic, and without thinking, she attempted to teleport home, in her body.
It didn't work either.
Of course, two souls can't occupy the same shell.
That meant she was still in there. But what happened? Where did the connection go?
It was always there. In the back of her mind, she got so used to it, that the absence drove her crazy.
Like when you sit in perfect silence and your ears begin to ring.
It's subtle at first but becomes deafening in the silence. She lost Leona, which made her realize how much she wanted her back. And there was nothing she could do about it.
