[Notice: The Princess regained her consciousness.]
Great. Once I chew down the last bites of the fancy breakfast, she will be the first I'll interrogate today.
After getting only twenty pounds of iron out of the bloomery I want some good news.
That's not even a quarter of what the quest asked.
I'm sure the description only specified the amount after the System knew how much I'd got.
All that work for so little gain.
[Reminder: It wasn't your work. It was child labor.]
Sigh. Whatever.
The consolation prize is that I got enough bricks from the clay they brought to build a smaller house. I'm sure it's not how this works in my world, but I won't complain.
As long as Alexandra's incredible magic makes it possible I'll take what I get.
I can make her a tiny mansion or a watchtower. Whichever could curry favor with her.
If I clear the mission and get the Masterful Crafting skill, it will be worthy for a Goddess, whatever I do. Still, this tyrant of a System demands me to get a hundred pounds of iron.
No wonder she wasn't satisfied with the amount.
That much could arm the entire tribe and cover some of their armor too. Do the villages nearby have that much they'd be willing to trade?
[Notice: You planned to interrogate the Princess of Nordhaben.]
Right. Focus. I'll find that out after the second round of interrogations. From the Champions, — the Demon Lord's henchmen, — I learned that they had no idea Alexandra was here.
This means I couldn't be their target. They came for the Princess, and now that she woke up, I only have to find out why she was here.
That outfit I made for her yesterday looks great.
It gives her that Warrior Princess look, rather than a spoiled brat's. She doesn't look amused though.
If anything, she looks scared once I enter the shaman's hut.
Gitaut is with her, and from his face, I conclude that he struggles with our royal guest.
"Ah, Your Grace." He bows his head and it's already suspicious. Why so formal now?
"The Princess Elizabeth had severe food poisoning, but she is all healed now, and well hydrated. She also ate a healthy breakfast so feel free to take her away. Right now."
Oh, I see. I can already tell how he got his name.
As it turns out, the Orcs choose their names for themselves, and it can change over time.
That's why most kids use groans and cries.
Most of them choose one that describes their achievements or role in their tribes if they have any.
If they don't, they pick whatever they fancy.
But if they put it out too long, they'll end up like Gitaut.
His name, or what he wants others to call him is simple: Shaman.
Yet, everyone calls him Gitaut, because that's the sentence he always utters.
"Now, please, get out." He repeats it as if he wants to prove me right. "And try not to knock out more people."
"I can't make promises." A grin spreads across my face, and I drag the Princess out of his hut.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
I take her to the chieftain's hut. It has the best contrast for an interrogation: a spartan interior, and luxurious bed. And, of course, a creepy-looking golem.
It might be only creepy for me, but knowing it will be my future body, I can't help but look at it with apprehension. The Princess looks much smaller once she's inside too.
Well, she is a petite girl. Alexandra's borrowed body is about a head taller than her. The purple locks curl like a drill, and she could be a stunning beauty if not for the faces she makes.
Even while scared, she scrunches her nose and has this disdainful expression. It doesn't do her any favors, though I always loved the tsundere characters.
Let's hope she'll grow out of this phase. For now, I bombard her with questions.
"I know, who you are, Princess. And I already talked with the Goblin and his men and heard they were after you." Did this assert my dominance?
[Notice: That was a suggestion for your first meeting. You don't have to focus so hard on this for the rest of your life.]
The System is a meanie as usual, rather than helping. So should I be more friendly?
"I won't let them harm you." How about this one? Oh, but the most important thing. "They also told me you were on a mission, that gave them this opportunity. So what was it?"
Whether I sound friendly or menacing I can't tell, but she looks even more scared now.
"I-I was following orders. I didn't want to leave Sanctuary or anything. The Elder forced me on this mission." Yes, classic tsundere. Everyone else is at fault, but her.
"Who is this Elder, and what mission?" At least I already know what Sanctuary is from the System. It's Nordhaben's capital, taking in most human refugees after the Empire collapsed.
"Ah, it's a name Saint Ghisella goes by within the Church. She's the head of the Inquisition."
"Oh, the First Bride?" The hag I fought when I picked up Omerta.
"I already defeated her, but tell me, what was the mission?" Though I'm sure she got out alive, even if I couldn't see shit for the next day or two. If the Princess doesn't know, I won't tell her.
"Y-you fought the Saint?" Her eyes go wide. Well, I'm not surprised if she's such a big deal. According to the System, the only person on her level is the Demon Lord.
And, of course, Alexandra.
"Yes, and she wouldn't stop monologuing about her plans, but I was busy kicking her butt. So give me a short rundown of your role in this, and I'll spare you."
Now her eyebrows furrow. I can tell when someone thinks I'm stupid. I can also tell from the sound the System uses with me, but her face is even more obvious.
[Notice: That is because she's the Last Bride. It's common knowledge why the Demon Lord selected her at the tender age of three.]
Ugh. Other than being a sick fuck?
"Well, Your Grace must be aware, but since you asked. I'm the Seer of the Nordhaben dynasty."
