"You are a Seer?" Well, she did say that, didn't she? "Does that mean you can see the future?"
"What? No. It's not like I'm a Saint or a Goddess." The Princess shakes her head, raising an eyebrow as if she is talking to someone stupid. "I didn't even start learning magic yet."
Excuse me, but the System kept me in the dark about this.
[Notice: The Goddess of Luck told you about Seers when she suggested to avoid using magic.]
Ugh, that was a while ago.
But I'm lucky the Princess thinks I'm an idiot because she explains.
"I can only see the present on my level. Feel the changes in the Mana currents, and detect if someone powerful casts a spell."
Oh, she's the one the Goddess warned me about then.
And she is with the Inquisition too.
She is the reason why I had to avoid using magic. Not that I could do it in the first place.
And after that fight with the First Bride, it became irrelevant.
But wait, does it mean she found me?
"So your mission was to apprehend me for the Inquisition? But the Demon Lord's Champions found you first." It's easy to reach this conclusion and she nods, looking away.
There is something I want to know though.
"When did you find out that I have returned?"
"I um, about a week ago? But it's strange." She glances at the golem behind my bed, then back at me. "I can tell that this servant is the work of the Thirteenth Bride, but your aura feels different."
Shit, here we go again. I can't underestimate these magicians.
Gitaut realized it immediately as well. Of course, a Seer would know too. Now what?
[Notice: Revealing your identity to the Inquisition would lead to unforeseen consequences.]
Are there any consequences you could predict at this point? I knew it the moment Alex told me about magical auras and stuff.
Right after she tried to make that first homunculus, she warned me to stay hidden, then led this girl here.
Goddess of Luck my ass, more like Goddess of Klutz. And if she already knows I'm not Alex, I could have cast as many spells as I wanted, and they wouldn't even know.
Okay, I spent that attribute point on intelligence, I can wing this.
"So the new method to mask my identity worked." With this claim, I have her attention.
It's utter bullshit, of course. But if Alexandra figured out teleportation, why wouldn't she invent this too? Elizabeth wouldn't know.
"I forgot to use it when I made that thing, but now you can't see me, even though I'm right here with you." Pretending that I'm only testing her seems to work.
Her eyes go wide, but she remains silent. I'll count this as a win.
"All right, you got me anyway." And now the classic good cop.
"Or should I say, I found you and saved you from those wolves?" Pause. She looks nervous, so it's working. I hope.
"I can protect you from the Demon Lord's men too. They are out for your blood, you know?"
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
She gulps. Even if the Goblin cleared that part up, they're still enemies. I can leverage that.
"So what did the Inquisition want from me?" I lean back, laying out my cards. "Tell me everything I want to know, and I will keep you safe."
"What kind of question is that? Of course, they wanted to Banish you." She still has the tsundere in her, even though she's shaking. System, remind me, what is Banishment?
[Notice: Banishment is the closest people got to teleportation magic. It's a one-way teleportation spell that sends the target into an outer dimension.]
"Why do they want to Banish me?" I raise an eyebrow, thinking about when to switch to the bad cop role. Can I pull it off?
It's still easier to copy stuff I saw in movies than to go with the flow.
"W-what do you mean, why?" She seems flabbergasted. Even though she's shaking with fear, she can't hold back the expression. It screams 'What are you, stupid?'
"You made millions of people disappear. And the Old Capital too. Of course, they want to Banish someone so dangerous." She tells me, offended, that I had her explain.
Right. Alex did that, but something's off.
"It was an accident." That was her excuse too. "And besides, your First Bride, Saint Hag used that opportunity to rebel against the Demon Lord. So why does she hate me so much?"
"S-she did not rebel. She restored order in the chaos you have caused. And now that you have returned, she's afraid you'd make Sanctuary disappear too."
Oh, fair enough. Wait, no. This smells like some twisted propaganda.
"So that's how she sold her treason in the North?! Restoring order?"
I do my best to cackle, but it sounds weird.
"It was her fault the teleportation failed, and she Sealed the Demon Lord away."
It was worth gathering the little details into a coherent story, now I know what the old hag's deal is.
She pretends to be a savior, rather than a usurper. It's smart, evil, but smart.
I hope I can kick her ass again if there's something left to kick.
The Princess doesn't believe me, but she's young and must have lived most of her life in the First Bride's lies.
"All right, I appreciate your honesty. So how did you plan Banishing me if you can't cast magic yet?" I ask the next question after a short pause to gather my thoughts.
"My role was only to lead the Court Wizard to you." She avoids my eyes again.
"Who is this Court Wizard?" According to the Orcs, the wizard role is the second lowest after apprentices, and I'm a Goddess. Well, Alexandra is. But that's the highest level.
What can a little wizard even do against me?
"It's a commoner, a coward at that. His name is Lambert, and he ran away when the Lesser Races attacked us." Wow, if this didn't sound racist, I don't know what is.
Though she didn't praise her comrade either, she continues.
"He is the only one in Nordhaben that could cast Banishment."
