Guess Who's Back?

The time of my return comes before I realize. And I mean that.

I worked in the Orc camp until passing out, and the next thing I knew I was sitting on the toilet seat in the university. Again. But things are different this time.

"I'm... Me." This is new. Or rather, it has been some time.

And I don't hear the System's usual snaps either.

I'm not deaf, there are plenty of noises that I didn't hear in the other world.

And these artificial smells, especially ones you encounter in a public toilet.

I didn't miss these, but it drives the point home.

I'm back. Alexandra teleported me, in my sleep, without a warning.

I missed all the white flash and floating in nothingness part. And what the hell am I wearing?

Oh, right. I made these medieval garments as a test.

The Goddess put them on my new copy when she finished the job.

She surprised me back then as well. Now she knocks on my stall.

"Leo? You here?" She asks, and I have so many questions.

How did she close the door after leaving this body here? And was it on the toilet all this time?

Well, that means only one day, not ten like in the other world. But still. Did nobody find me?

"I'm here," I answer, still talking in her voice. Yeah. My original might be gone forever. This one's much better anyway but it might raise a few eyebrows. "You should have warned me."

"What? I told you I'll summon you in ten days." She grins once I open the stall, and it has been some time since I saw her face. She's still as beautiful as I remembered.

It's strange. I've been in her body until now — although not this version — but seeing it from the outside is much different. Becoming the hot girl that she is was exciting too.

But I'd still prefer to be with her, in one way or another. Oh, that reminds me.

"Crap, I should've told the Orcs that I'll be away for a while." Another thing I forgot.

If we both stay here a day, Alexandra's shell in her world will be in bed for ten days.

At least it didn't collapse in the middle of the tribe. That would freak everyone out.

She's a cat girl, so lazing in bed should be fine, but right when the village blew up in size?

"The System is still there, consider yourself in Auto Battle mode until I take over." She tries to comfort me, offering her hand. Knowing how bugged that thing is makes it even worse.

"Here, I hope you remember the more important numbers." She hands over a brand-new smartphone. I'm confused for a moment.

Oh, yeah. She evaporated my old one.

"Thanks, you didn't have to." And it's an expensive model too.

I never had a Pear, or a pHONE in general.

Damn, where did she get the money for it? Okay, this can wait.

"So what's the plan for today?" I pocket the phone for now, because yes. I made this tunic with pockets. It will still make me stick out like a sore thumb on the campus.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

Is it early morning? Can I change somewhere?

What do I tell Frank, my roommate, who didn't see me for three days?

No, screw him, the first person I want to talk to is my sister.

Alex didn't even have the chance to answer yet and my brain went to the moon and back.

She waves by my eyes to grab my attention, so I must've spaced out for a while.

"Hey, Leona? Teleportation sickness?"

"Ugh. I'd say brain overdrive."

We both giggle, and I try my best to focus.

"Right. So you were saying?"

"I said you need to sign a few attendance sheets before you miss too many classes." Alex starts, and this reminder about the university makes me gasp.

"Shit. You destroyed my books too, right?" Those were expensive.

And where do I get another set this fast? What class do I even have today?

Right. It's still only the fourth day of uni.

"You can borrow mine, we'll attend the same classes. Sit next to me." She winks, and I'm glad she offers it.

So we'll spend the whole day together at school?

That's like a date.

Almost.

"I should change before the first class though." These medieval clothes would ruin the event.

I would nonstop scan the surroundings to see who looks at me and try to guess what they think.

"Well, your sister might be nearby with a fresh set." She grins, and thanks to all the sudden anxiety I almost miss that. Wait, what? Is Emi here? Seeing my reaction she laughs.

She's playing with me, and I can't help but blush. I'm back in this awkward body again and all my anxiety is on my face as usual. Damn, this is not going the way I wanted.

I force a smile anyway. Let's hope it will hide how confused and scared I am. Or at least how lovestruck around her. Right. Focus. She got my sister to come here. Doesn't she have school?

"How did you do that?"

"You had me write her an e-mail, didn't you?" She shrugs. "I got your login details too. I figured she'd be the first one you want to see once I bring you back. No need to thank me."

Oh shit. I should've thanked her.

"Wow. It's the best surprise ever. I didn't expect it." I must sound cringe, but I can't help it. This situation hit me harder than I expected. "Thank you so much. And where is she?"

"Okay. Here is what I told her." She shows her phone, and there is a message on the screen that she wrote in my name. It's so much bullshit, that two lines in, I want to die.

"Me winning a new phone? By dressing up for a medieval fair?" I would never, and Emi knows that. "Meet me on the second level of building C in the restrooms. Which building is this?"

"Oh, there you are." Someone enters the restroom, and I know this voice. Shit.
