Hana

The food is great. It's a bit plain, although spicy, but I no longer care. I'm past the point where I'd eat anything and everything. Fuck, if they didn't give me something right away, I'd eat them too.

Thank God, Charlotte wasn't kidding when she said they prepared a meal worthy of a Goddess. She didn't mean the quality, they're all about the quantity, exactly what I need.

There are literal towers of meat on the wooden plates, but it's hard to tell what they're made of. They have fruits and pastries I've never seen before and plenty of water from the small river.

While that part's a little lackluster I take what I get.

It all smells nice and familiar, even though half of the tastes are foreign to me. What they lack in skill, they make up in spices.

It's not Indian, Thai, or Turkish, but something similar, a familiar yet exotic aroma.

It slides down the Thirteenth Bride's throat like it's a wormhole. This girl must have quite the capacity. And I don't mean the bandwidth, I've been stuffing myself for hours now, and I'm still starving.

If what she said is true, she's been in my world for a year, which means her body was waiting for her return for a decade.

Did she put herself into a stasis or something? I don't know, I don't care. The body demands the calorie input for the whole duration, and I'm happy to oblige.

If she gains weight, she deserves it. This body is too perfect for her anyway.

Given how they prepared this much food after they found me, they must have expected this. The only downside is that the whole tribe is here.

Eating in the crossfire of fifty pairs of eyes is anything but pleasant, but hunger wins.

I bet she'd get stares wherever she went anyway. It was enough for her to sign her name and she got some followers from our uni group.

Her hair wasn't this long in my world. That must have been a different body, or she didn't have as long to grow it out. This alone would grab the attention of most people.

I wish I could deal with it better, but I never had it past shoulder length and it's crazy hot, in both meanings of the word.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

Are the Orcs into her too, or is it only their loyalty? Does the species of them matter? Can these animalistic monsters have sex with a beastfolk like me?

Why the hell am I thinking about this again?

One thing is for certain. Humans would throw themselves at my feet while I looked like this, with or without the cat ears and the tail.

Life's unfair, though it's funny to imagine if they saw me eat this much while being thinner than a blade of grass.

The torso, at least, the curvy parts could fit a few more calories. The glances from the Orcs look hungry too.

I can't tell if they are looking at me like that, or realize there will be no leftovers for them. Let's hope Charlotte didn't mean to provide a feast for the entire tribe of them, and it's all for me.

I won't stop either way. But eating a village's worth of barbarians out of their food stock would be embarrassing.

The fact is, the longer I eat the bolder I get.

I half expected them to bring wine or beer. Something alcoholic the warriors of this world prefer, and turn this into a party.

But I won't complain, I'm only bolder inside my head. This is a small camp, or village anyway, whatever you want to call it.

It's all the better. I was never great with booze, only turning eighteen. That is, in my original body — that's gone forever, thanks, Alex.

How old is the Goddess? The body feels both younger and older at once, and it's in way better condition than mine was ever.

But what's more important, how long will this Standard Bearer bash his head into the ground?

"Please, please, Your Highness, forgive me." He keeps begging. Come on, I already dismissed him a few times, it makes the food taste worse.

System, help me out here.

[Notice: Hank the Butcher is a world-renowned gladiator. Hitting his commander from behind is a huge disgrace, even if it was an accident.]

[Pride and hierarchy are the most important aspects of an Orc's life.]

Yeah, and why did he hit me in the first place? Because SOMEONE suggested wearing that stupid mask.

Yes, System, I still remember that. You said, and I quote, 'I recommend you wear the Sentient Mask, otherwise, you won't be able to fight the Orcs'.

You didn't say that for my safety, you knew if they recognized me, they'd bow down right away, rather than fight.

[Notice: user Leona requested a tutorial and survival training. A sparring match with the Orc Scouts was an adequate opportunity.]

She's mouthing me back like that. I'm going mad. Note to self: don't trust the System again.

"Come on, Hank, I told you, I'm not mad." I try my best, to shut the brute up, but it has the opposite effect.

He wails even louder, whenever I say that name between bites. The others also shake their heads, and when Charlotte finally whispers into my ears, most of the food is gone.

"Your Grace, since you've been away, the Standard Bearer forgo his former life and name as Hank the Butcher." She says, whatever that's supposed to mean. "In the last decade, they went by as Hana."

"What?" What? System? Anything to add to this?

[Error: Cannot compute.]

Figures. So this world has their transgenders too? It explains the weird eyelashes and the woman's clothes on that brutal, masculine body.

Did I misgender him the whole time? No, wait, her? Them? Damn.

Does he, — um, it — think I tried to humiliate them in front of the rest of the tribe on purpose? And he's the Standard Bearer. The strongest warrior of the battalion, right?

Great start, Leona. Damage control. Now.

If they overthrow me for being an idiot before Alex returns, I won't go home.
