[Notice: Mission Completed. Congratulations, now you can use Masterful Crafting.]
The System waited with the rewards until we returned and I smelted the ore we traded for.
And I didn't leave anything to chance, Charlotte pushed as hard as she could while bargaining.
We got the iron the mission asked for and three times more.
Well, the camp needs much improvement so I could use it on top of the quest too.
It took us half a day to return home, which was disappointing.
That Beastmen village was something else.
Neat streets, multilevel buildings, well planned out, like a late medieval town.
The Orc camp in comparison was like a chaotic little village left from the Stone Age. It was in a better place with a larger area to build on, yet fewer people lived here and in worse conditions.
I had plenty of time to make plans, as it took so long to walk back.
When you have to go on foot everywhere, it takes much longer than you'd expect.
In my world, this would have been two train stops at best. Ten or fifteen minutes, and if we ordered home delivery, this much iron ore would have been a breeze to handle.
I'm a modern girl, I take too many comfortable things for granted. It's both a relief and a curse here.
I don't even think about wasting time scrolling social media.
But looking up stuff on the internet would come in handy sometimes.
Would a smartphone even work here? It's not like they have internet or broadcasting towers.
And Alexandra said she could take anything from here to my world, but nothing on her way back.
That's why she needed that homunculus, otherwise, her body would stuck there forever.
How did she figure this out? There is so much more I don't know.
But I learned a lot, and my character improved within the System too.
[Character Name: Leona] [Race, Class, Level: Beastfolk (Feline), Harem Warrior, Lvl 5]
[Str: 12] [Dex: 18] [Con: 16] [Int: 13] [Wis: 17] [Cha: 16] [HP: 80/80] [MP: 85/85]
Skills: Masterful Crafting.
The upgraded skill now lets me craft crossbows the same way spears work. Even if the System doesn't have the schematics, I can make it happen as long as I'm familiar with the structure.
All I have to do is imagine the item, it lets me skip that silly UI too, and the finished product appears in my inventory. It's such a bullshit cheat skill, and I love it.
[Reminder: You said it was useless.]
And you'll never let me forget that, would you?
Fenna — the Beastfolk village's leader — escorted us back with a dozen guards armed to the teeth. To keep them in check, I start with a bunch of crossbows. Cutie or not, I don't trust her.
She wasn't afraid to draw weapons on us, though she calmed down when I mentioned her father.
If the Demon Lord is the good guy here, I'll have to let go of his men anyway.
But I won't give him the Princess. Na-uh. No feeding the freak with a young girl's blood.

If he comes here, and explains himself, fine, but I'm a Goddess after all.
Well, Alexandra is. And I'm trying my best to roleplay her.
[Notice: You are doing a terrible job.]
Anyway. Fenna and Fang had their tearful reunion. At least she was busy with that and didn't make snarky comments about our shabby settlement.
She strikes me as the type that would complain about everything.
Looking at them now, their faces are similar.
But how did a wolf-type Beastmen have a fox girl daughter?
It must be from her mother's side, but I don't want to intrude on their family time.
I explore the new skill instead, and oh boy, it's worth the hassle.
Every hunter gets a knife, a crossbow, and two dozen bolts on top of their spears.
The other warriors get axes, swords, or whatever they desire.
I'm like Santa. I line them up, ask them what weapons they prefer, and pull one out of my inventory, made in that instant. This magic trick is quite popular.
Much of the iron is gone right away, even before considering armor.
The best I can get them are shields, reinforced with metal bindings.
The next on my list is a building spree that will need some nails and other materials.
The priorities are clear. I want to move from that shabby shack the chieftain shares with me.
I value my privacy. Besides, it's not something worthy of a Goddess like Alexandra.
The bed is a huge improvement already, but she deserves better.
If she returns in a few days and takes over from me, I want to leave her with more than this chaos to sort out.
[Querry: What makes you think she would stay after she returns you to your world?]
That's... Good question. Why wouldn't she?
I mean it's a nice-looking world. It's much more interesting than mine, or learning programming.
But she chose to stay there for the last year, despite a decade going by here.
Would she abandon her people again? I don't know anything about her, do I?
[Notice: You can continue exploring her memories. That way you could also find out what would please her. Since you are hellbent on trying to impress her.]
Wow, it's a solid advice. I can't get used to the System being helpful for once.
Even if she's grumbling like a tsundere, we are warming up to each other.
[Querry: Did you hit your head?]
No, but I'm curious if Alex would let me keep you even if I'm no longer in her body. It's not that you'd be that useful back home. My world doesn't have magic after all.
Thinking about it now, do I want to return there for good? I don't want to abandon my family, but visiting them every week or two should be enough.
The introvert in me never thought interacting with others could be this much fun. It might be because of this amazing body, and because everyone thinks I'm Alex.
But who knows, if I stay here, we could become closer to the Goddess.
