Supportive.

Loliel looks down at the city dancing in neon-rainbow lights below her from the rectangular window panes of the Stravos apartment complex.

“To think, all of this is under where we live. Dam them… Are we even safe, knowing that they exist in mass numbers like this?” Loliel ponders.

With a sigh, she turns to the left and walks toward a closed off glass-room. She grazes the glass with her fingertips, and a neon blue circle follows her hand, causing the lights in the room to flicker on.

The room was layered with an artificial sky in the background and fake green grass topping the floor. Four white doghouses align themselves on the wall, a few names on silver-plates hovered above them.

Loliel squints her eyes, noticing a faint figure shuffling in one of the house. Her eyes widen and she takes a step back with a gasp, as the figure lunges out the house.

It was a human man, his face was scratched and scarred, with both of his eyes taken from his sockets able to see the pulsing pink membrane of his inner blue and red blood vessels. His arms were cut off by a third, the rest were restricted behind his back by a pair of chains penetrated deep into his gouges.

His mouth had it’s lips severed and skin covering the hole so that it looked as if he never had one in the first place.

Loliel feels her heart race within her chest as she takes another step back with a glide of dry spit moving down her throat. A few moans catches her attention, noticing the occupants of the other dog pens making their appearance.

Most of them were in the same way as the man, dismembered, disfigured, and groaning in agony so much that a small bubble of air bulged from their covered mouth holes.

Beads of water forms in the sides of Loliel’s eyes as she turns around with a clenched fist. “How can they be… How could they...”

“You humans must’ve lived a very privileged life. To think that, that, is cruelty.”

Loliel raises her head to face Miya, standing a few feet in front of her.

“I can give you several harsher realities they could be facing. But, for now, they’re all fuck-toys and torture play-things.”

“That’s not the point. If you were in my shoes, seeing people of your same race would make you feel the same way.” Loliel chides.

“Make me feel like what…?”

“Powerless! Weak! Like we’re just animals when we’re not!”

Miya scoffs while walking forward, glancing at the dismembered humans with a smirk. “Oh please, save me the benevolent bullshit. Your race has been encouraging serfdom since your earliest ages. Quite simply put, the weak succumb to the strong and to continue living knowing they must revolve around their suppressor. Don’t act any differently now that a bigger adversary has appeared and caused you scrutiny. Hearing that come from a hominid, is quite, hypocritical.”

“You possess half the genes that a human has. Don’t you have any humanity for yourself?”

Miya eyes rise in flare, she pivots on one foot and snatches her gun from her holster. It’s trigger churning into itself while the barrel elongates, centering it at Loliel's chest.

“Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking that we’re one of the same. I was born of a human-embryo, yes. However, my way of life and upbringing was incomparably different from that of someone like yourself. We’re not in the same class, so don’t think I’ll get emotional over something as monotonous as this.” Miya seethes.

Loliel shakes her head. “So all that you said… Back when were in the city… Did you mean any of it? Can I really believe your empathy or concern, if you’re saying all of this now?”

Miya eyes search the ground, she then clasps her gun back into her holster while rubbing her forehead.

A screen blinks in front of Loliel, she swipes through using a finger and inputs a set of keys before it closes itself.

“He’s here, his name is Kavie. Apparently, the news of a Space Patroller being here has spread and he said he would find you instead. I told him to watch out for a short girl with an attitude, seems fitting if you ask me.”

Miya opens her mouth, ready for a crude comeback, but clenches her teeth. She then walks forward, stopping a few paces at Loliel’s side.

“I do care, but… Not in the way that you think. I can’t be blind to emotion in my position, it’ll only make my life harder. I understand your frustration, but this is just how life is. It may be a shock to you, for someone who hasn’t ventured past your outer stars but the reality of it is—“

“Like you said before Miya, save me the benevolent bullshit. I thought that I could believe your words, but maybe there just there for you to believe in instead. If you truly don’t care, then just leave your opinions to yourself and don’t give people false expectations. I don’t need your pity.”

Loliel then turns and stands in front of the window looking down to the city with her arms crossed, her blank expression being reflected in the transparent sheet of glass. Miya scratches the back of her head and sighs, flicking her hand into the air and allowing a white swiveling void to appear in front of her, walking through with a single step.
