Reasoning

"... Thanks, Kik, for your help."

"... Yes, thank you dear. You've been a huge help. Give my best to the rest of your team, okay?"

"... Yawsh. Now problewm!"

Miya walks through the door, her eyes shifting around the new foreign space with narrow eyes.

Loliel and Vivi follow shortly after, also intrigued with the new living quarters.

"Finally, you're back! What took you so long?" Koko exclaims while striding down the stairwell.

"Yeah... We got a little held back due to, erm, something..." Loliel mumbles.

Kyamyo looks past them with lowered eyelids. "Where's Dr. Ashihei? Did they have to hold him back due to not complying like Adalae was?"

"They kept asking for personal information so I told them no! I have a right to my privacy!" Adalae exclaims with puffed cheeks and crossed arms.

Miya looks back at Loliel and Vivi with their heads pinned down and solemn looks. She then turns and points up at Maxim, still sitting on the second floor.

"You... Er..."

"Call me Maxy."

"Whatever, Maxy. There's a cleansing room up there, correct?"

"If you mean bathroom, then yeah."

Miya turns around and rubs the side of Vivi's arm. "Please use the amenities as much as you'd like. I know you didn't eat much, so you can make something too, okay?"

Vivi nods her head and walks toward the stairwell. Loliel looks down at Miya and smiles before walking alongside her mother.

Adalae flips over in her chair and watches as they reach the second floor, then turns to Miya with a glare.

"What did you do?"

Miya raises an eyebrow with a tilt of her head. "I don't have time for you. Go ask them yourself."

Adalae hops from her seat and stands in front of Miya's way, blocking her next step.

"You're misunderstanding this situation entirely. Now move it, they'll answer your concerns when they're ready."

"No, you will." Adalae commands. "Whatever you've done, undo it now."

Miya snickers with a hand up to her cheek. "You sound like a child who doesn't understand common sense. I didn't, do, anything. Talk to your captain if you don't believe me."

She then brushes past Adalae with a smirk.

"Hey, I'm not done with you!" Adalae jeers, grabbing onto Miya's arm.

"Hey let's calm down, haha... O-oh yeah Miya..." Kyamyo takes a worn-out blue satchel from the side of the couch. "They told us to give this to you..."

Miya turns her head to the side, her eyes gazing at the bag, widening with an intense glare. Adalae's fingers begin to bulge within Miya's arm as her arm's muscles start to grow in definition.

"Don't... Touch that..." Miya's seethes.

She whips her hand to the side of her holster, jerking Adalae along with her.

Kyamyo looks back at the bag and then over to her with a tilt of her head, unaware of Miya's tempting gun threat due to it being covered by the other side of the sofa.

"Okay, I'm sorry for touching your things, I guess." Kyamyo sighs, placing the bag on the glass table in the middle of the room.

Miya snatches her arm away from Adalae, then walks over to retrieve her bag. Its contents clack and jingle as she walks up the stairs to the second floor.

She eyes the bedroom up and down, then throws the blue satchel onto the metal workshop table, snapping her fingers behind her at Maxim.

Maxim jumps up from his chair, allowing it to swivel over to her as she sits. He and Koko look over the railing at Adalae, clenching her trembling hand with a glare.

"Dam that girl..." Adalae mutters, digging her nails hard enough into her arm so that specs of blood seep through her bodysuit.

Kyamyo runs over to her side and places a hand on her shoulder. "M-maybe we should all just chill out and wait for-"

Adalae turns her head to the side, giving Kyamyo a fierce stare making her back away with a lowered head.

"Hey uh, spacehead."

She looks up at Maxim as he smiles and throws his arm around her shoulder.

"Let's go get lost in this place. Maybe we could spot some weird aliens that you know the names of."

"By that definition, all species would have weird names." Adalae rolls her eyes. "You're such an idiot, but whatever."

As they inch toward the door, Maxim looks back and gives Kyamyo a wink making her smile and wave them out.

She then turns around and walks up the stairwell.

Miya holds her worn-down satchel upside down, allowing the contents to spill onto the metal table. A multitool of drift punchers, pliers, screwdrivers, and metal gun parts clank along the surface.

Miya then inserts her hand into the bag. She removes a dark-blue badge with a glacial mountain insignia, a small journal with a speck of blood on the metal covering, and a crumbled-up picture.

Koko sighs and walks over to the right side of the bed, sitting on the edge. "This day seriously cannot get any more eventful…."

Kyamyo walks past her and stops behind Miya's workshop chair a few feet away. "Hey Miya... Whatcha doin...?"

Miya pushes the journal, picture, and badge to the side without turning up her gaze.

"Nothing important. Where did the other two go?"

"Oh... Adalae and Maxim? I don't know... They kind of just left..."

"I don't want them to use my name if they get lost or in trouble. They better keep their noses down."

Koko plants her back onto the bed. "I don't think you have to worry about that. Adalae is to stubborn and Maxim's probably going to pull some reckless stunt to get her out of trouble."

Kyamyo giggles, intertwine her fingers behind her back and hops to Miya's side.

The work desk produces a neon-blue light encircles the gun components scattered across the table. Miya taps a few of them, causing their specific names and needed parts to appear in blue holographic lettering. Each piece then hovers a few inches from the table.

After a few seconds, she pushes the pieces into the air, mimicking a half-made gun's internal mechanics. The workshop desk's backboard creates a bright neon red light as it flips around. The opposite side reveals several pistols, submachine guns, rifles, and other artillery.

One yellow pistol was shaped like a revolver. However, it utilized three nozzles, and its swirling nano-plasma core chamber produced a colorless glow. Another white sub-machine gun was long and rectangular, though its racks on the front and sides had black spheres that seemed to form into circular sights depending on how it was held.

The synthesizer board, commonly called the synth, was usually used for creating objects from scrap, energy, or undistributed mass. One of Miya's, if not her only, hobby or interests were firearms. The more exciting and complicated, the more it intrigued Miya to use it. The Federation regulates and restricts advanced tinkering like this, except for high-ranking officers and Fed-ships. She got a taste for the ATS while stationed at the Crux-Patrol Institute, but this was the first time she had it all to herself.

Miya drags the white sub-machine gun from the wall and draws her hands across, causing the gun's inner mechanics and structure to be seen. She then swipes through all the parts, starting with the barrel shroud, its screws, and bolts, then moving to the ejection port.

"Why do you have to memorize all of the parts?" Kyamyo inquires.

Miya looks up at her then sighs, snatching her XMS pistol from her hip and holding it up. The sides of the gun begin to burn red, with the back-end extending into a stock and center forming into a rectangular-white lower receiver. She winces, and the red burn discontinues, with the gun stopping its transformation at the trigger guard. It almost imitated the rail gun she had floating in front of her.

"Oh I see! So your gun specializes in mimicking munition fragments, utilizing some type of nano-technology that corresponds with one's recollection of it's exterior shell and inner mechs. Kind of like a virtual computer that uses a person's mind to create a simulation based on their memory bank and imagination."

"Yeah… That's exactly how it works-"Miya's eyebrows draw down as she turns to face her fully. "Wait, who are you again?"

Kyamyo points at herself with a whimper. "Aw! Come on, it's Kyamyo! I-I was the person who was controlling the robot, remember? We even met again on the bridge of the ship!"

"Oh yes, you're the one who deciphered that information for me. At first I took you for some lonesome technoid that couldn't make proper conversation."

Kyamyo nods her head. "A-and now…?"

Miya turns back around in her chair. "Sorry I've got work to do."

“Ah! You’re so mean Miya!”

"Quiet down, I need to focus!"

A sliding churn is heard down the hall. Koko turns to Loliel and Vivi, walking from down the corridor, now wearing black and white bodysuits.

"I guess these will have to do since we can't get any clothes from our ship." Loliel decides while patting down her abdomen and sides.

Vivi walks over to the side of the bed and sits down. Her shoulders droop as she releases a soft sigh.

Kyamyo pokes her index fingers together. "So, um… You guys gonna tell us what happened or what?"

Loliel nods her head. "Right, we… We should talk. You all deserve to know some things after all."

She then turns to Vivi with a sideward glance. "If that's okay with you, mother?"

Vivi nods her head then lifts her feet into the bed. The soles of the bodysuit's shoes then retract, exposing her bare feet as she rests her head on the fluffy white pillows.

Loliel walks over to the balcony, looking at the empty second floor. "Where did Maxim and Adalae go?"

Koko shakes her head with a stretch of her arms. "Dunno. Maxim took her on a walk to cool off."

Loliel looks over to the back of Miya's chair. Her bottom lip opens, but she shakes her head, looking back at the door.

"We'll wait for them to return then we'll talk."

Koko jumps from the bed with a stretch. "Sounds good to me."
