Miya continues to gaze at the flashing blue and green lights whizzing past the bridge panes as the ship plunges through hyper-travel. With a prolonged yawn, she shifts around in her chair and rests her legs on the armrest.
She looks back to the bridge door unlocking along with Loliel stepping out, making her way over to the middle pilot's chair and taking a seat. The chair rotates around so that she can also face the bridge panes as she lets out a sigh, resting her thigh flat onto her chest and leaning her head on her knee.
Miya looks over at her, then rests the back of her head on the leather cushion at the top of the chair and closes her eyes.
"She had an… Incident, with the Ya'valt a few years ago that left her traumatized. She can barely function without her mask, and making direct eye contact with anyone gives her unease."
Miya opens one eye and then closes her eyelid back down. "How unfortunate. If she put up any more of a fight I would've had to knock her out."
"Mhm. Anyways, could you explain what that thing was? I thought it was it was less probable that any living thing could live in space."
"Ah, the inept opinion from someone who's spent their entire life on one planet. That was a Vrav'edos, a species of Vrav that's similar to your planets squids or mollusks. It's documented that they came from a clouded planet in the FOS-1 quadrant." Miya answers.
"But, how does it—"
"Good question. How does it move, you may be thinking? It glides through space using the projection of its outer membrane, secreting a blue liquid through its pores, lower intestines, and tentacles. It even left some on the glass right there." Miya points to some of the blue ooze being wiped away as the ship blazes forward.
"I see…"
"It fuels their travel through sunlight gathered from stars around its native sector. They get rather close to them, able to withstand heat of about 5 klores, roughly 30 million degrees Fahrenheit on your native temp scale. Their ability to control their body's heat and surface temperature is also due to their bodily fluid."
Loliel cocks her head to the side in thought. She then points her finger in the air while opening her mouth.
"—Yes, its tissue did look squishy." Miya starts as if knowing her next question. "Due to the pressure in space, this would make it very unlikely to survive. However, you saw how it could metalize and control the volume of its limbs? Using this method once needed to glide or enter an atmosphere, it can create a shell or inner exoskeleton, making it immune to space's encumbrance."
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Ah… Okay…”
"Using its methods of transportation to different stars and around the cosmos and maintaining, as well as the knowing, the speed and direction to said places would need quite the tinkering mind. They're very intelligent as you've already observed."
Loliel closes her eyes and lays her head back onto the leather rest with a subtle exhale. "Could I ask perhaps… Did it evolve or did someone create it…?"
Miya shrugs her shoulders. "Who knows. All I know is what I know. Most monstrosities survive through different means, such as light, vacuum induction, and magnetism. These could've been genetically constructed through natural selection and evolution when two planets collided and destroyed a certain preserved ecosystem, Or someone could've engineered a certain DNA type that can evolve and devolve due to its perceptiveness and surrounding properties."
"Dr. Schwerner and Dr. Yamauchi would be asking a plethora of questions right now."
"Loliel, may I ask you a question?"
Loliel nods her head. "Mhm. Shoot."
"How much do you know about your parents?"
Loliel turns her head to the side and slightly opens her eyes. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, who they work for. Why do they have this big ass ship? What were they doing stranded on Earth?"
"I told you they worked for Stellar, and the reasoning behind the ship was that it was left unused. It was under my assumption that we stayed on Earth because it was the safest place for us after…."
Miya turns to the side and meets her gaze. "… After, what?"
"Guroft. It was an underground facility that we rescued my father from a few years ago. They were making advanced technology using some weird artifact, which supposedly was the cause of the entire of the Ya'valt invasion."
The sides of Miya's lips curl into her cheeks as her eyes give off a crimson glare.
"You don't say… And isn't it a little odd, that with all of these transport vessels, one would just conveniently be left here for you to use?"
"I don't see what you're getting at…."
"I'm just thinking out loud, don't mind me. And your mother, what did she do before all of this went down?"
"She was a biologist working for Stellar as well… She wanted to learn more about the planet's manifesting biomes and decided to stay with my father."
Miya chuckles while stretching out her legs so they hang off the armrest. She then looks at Loliel upside down with a smirk. "I might've lied to you about something. But it was precautionary, I wanted to know what you knew."
Loliel's eyes search Miya's face without allowing a blink.
"You don't have full access to the QYI because you're not registered in the Federation's system as a citizen. We'll take care of that as soon as we land at A1. However, I want you to look up COEN when we land."
"What does that stand for?"
"Ha!" Miya laughs, placing her hands on her stomach and closing her eyes. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
Loliel watches as Miya turns on her side and snuggles in a fetal position in the co-pilot's chair.
"Now, enough questions, I must rest for my briefing with my superior. We should be there in the next few hours. You should rest as well."
Loliel then looks to the side while resting her chin on her palm.
“… COEN, huh…”
