Miya follows Loliel down a long metal corridor until they reach a large blue hatch. They enter the sliding doors and the lights to the room tinker on with a short hum.
The room had a hexagon platform in the middle with multiple stairs leading to the upper platform. A window exposure looking down on the area was atop the corner of the room, with the area being dark and vacant.
Loliel steps onto the podium gazing at the shining lights plastered on the surrounding walls. “We use this room for sparring; Close-quarters combat isn’t really a probability with most guns having infinite ammunition nowadays. However, you never know, and you must be ready for anything.”
Miya places her hands on her hips with a scowl. “That’s nice. Annd, are you going to give me a demonstration of your team’s prowess since their fuck-up back when we first met? I’m sure their hand-to-hand is much more decent than their hand-to-gun.”
“No, not at all. This is no demonstration, I’ll be your opponent.”
Miya blinks for a moment before exploding into laughter. “Y-you? Ha! An army is composed of one-fourths of its general's strength. I’m not fighting a civilian, what would that do to my reputation?”
“So… Are you backing down?”
Miya gives a dismissive wave and steps onto the podium. “What’s in this for me anyway? Why don’t you just give me your contact and I’ll be out your hair.”
Loliel’s lips curl into a smile, she then takes her helmet from her hair, allowing her shoulder-length black locks to flutter down.
“How about this. If you’re able to knock both my feet from the center of the arena, I’ll give you my contact. However, if I best you then you’ll do some tasks for me, in exchange, for the contact.”
“That was never the deal. I gave you back your friend.” Miya chides.
“And I do recall answering any questions you had. So we’re even on that part, aren’t we? I never said I’d give you anything in exchange for Koko’s safety, I suppose you’re just that good of a Samaritan. Your parents must be proud.”
“I’m a Patroller, and before that an Ensign of the Galactic Federation. I’ve trained for years in different styles of combat, it wouldn’t be fair to fight a mere civilian. I heard you call that man, papa, earlier. I wouldn’t want daddy’s little girl getting bruised and battered.” Miya provoked with a callous smile.
Loliel takes off her armored jacket and throws it on the floor, it creates an affirming thump with its landing. She then stretches her arms into the air and performs several jumps.
“One thing I don’t like is idle chitchat. Like I said in that room, if you’re going to do something, just do it.”
Miya widens her smile, showing her sharp pointed teeth. “I’m going to shove your face so far up your ass, that you’re going to have to eat your fucking food twice you arrogant bitch!”
A crimson glare protruding from her eyes, she dashes forward while scraping her now elongated fingernails onto the floor creating orange sparks.
With a short jump into a spiral, Miya throws her fist down mid-air, colliding with Loleil who catches her aerial assault.
Loliel then throws Miya onto her feet and rolls over her back, still restricting her by the arm so that she couldn't move.
"Trained as a Patroller you say? I'm not very impressed." Loleil taunts with a mild yawn.
Miya grits her teeth and jolts her left arm making Loleil look down at her with a listless gaze.
With a small crack, Miya's shoulder nudges out of place taking Loleil by surprise and letting go of her arm.
Miya rolls across the floor and flips through the air, landing a few feet away on her soles sliding back.
She then rubs her arm before fixing it back into place with another snap.
Loleil gives her a slow clap and nods her head. "Nice trick, but that can't be all you have to offer."
Miya's brow twitches in anger, as her fingers start to grow into sharp claws. She then strides forward, faster than before, and reels her hand back for a powerful punch.
Loleil blocks Miya's jab with her forearm at an angle and throws her off. Miya then barrages her with a sequenced set of kicks and right hooks that are all eluded by her adversary.
Miya then drives her foot toward Loleil face, with Loleil simply grabbing her ankle and holding it high in the air.
She then kicks Miya's other foot off the ground and drives her elbow above her.
Miya gasps, as Loleil drives her elbow into her side making her ears ring and body bounce off the floor with a loud thump.
Loleil then grabs her airborne head and throws her across the floor, making her stumble several feet away.
Miya coughs and sits up on her hands and knees, glaring at Loleil with furrowed brows.
"They say that the Patrollers are the Elite of the Federation, chosen to govern their Sectors with incredible wit, precision, and strength. But if I'm to best you, I guess I should take your position, shouldn't I?"
The top lights of the windowed-off room looking down on the arena flicker on, with Adelae, Kyamyo, and Maxim tiptoeing in and ducking below the metal railing.
"... No need to hide, I was interested as well."
The three of them look to Ashihei continuing to gaze down at the arena with folded arms and an affirming gaze.
Maxim pushes past Kyamyo and Adelae with a chuckle. "Ah yeah mate, was just wonderin' how the cap got down with this new Patroller jit. Seems to be a nice scrap, eh?"
Adelae looks down at Loleil and then Miya with shifting eyes. "It seems like the captain has the upper hand."
"Seems that way..." Kyamyo comments.
"But neither of them have gotten serious, not yet at least." Ashihei details.
Miya's breath becomes heavy as she wipes a dribble of sweat from the side of her face.
Loleil chuckles with an extended hand. "You can't be tired after just that. That wasn't even a warmup. If you can't take me on, you might need to find another in for Stravos. Maybe they should've sent someone else for the job."
Miya's eyes widen, her breaths become calm as she gives off a manic laugh echoing through the room.
"Ha! Someone else? You mean that punk-ass major that's probably still floating off into space?"
Loleil raises an eyebrow toward her, with a hand on her hip. "Who now?"
She then widens her gaze, a small blur at the location where Miya once was. A small whoosh goes by her ear, making her eyes dart to the side as Miya's red pupils and blackened sclera come into view.
"... I killed that piece of shit. And I'll kill you just as easy."
