Kensa’s eyes widen, her pupils mirroring a set of swiveling blue and red lines forming a sphere around her coming from the now fragmented grenade. Then, in an earsplitting whoom, her body starts to clump into each other along with some of the metal of nearby automobiles.
Miya jumps back as the concentrated sphere full of flesh and metal then explodes, its ricochet shattering nearby car windows. Miya lands on a green sedan, gazing at the remnants of the blast.
Rensa’s upper torso was absent, besides the lingering half of her bloody spine with lumps of pink flesh dripping from her spinal cord. Her lower body was mangled, with her legs folded into her pelvis with bits of metal sliding from within her thighs and clattering onto the floor.
Miya slides down the window of the car and walks in front of the horrendous display. One of Kensa’s thighs slides at an angle from her body and plops on the floor, creating a dense splatter of blood.
Miya bends down and rips a piece of black latex from Kensa’s ankle, noticing a barcode along with a set of symbols followed by a ‘Property of—’ cut off by a smear of blood. Miya wipes away the blue clot and follows the words but lowers her shoulders as she notices the rest of her foot being misplaced by a crippled bone piece.
She bends down onto the floor and places her cheek on the black pavement while looking under the car, noticing a bare bloodied foot a few feet under the vehicle. Her small stature working for her, she crawls underneath and reaches for the bare limb scraping the blood from the back of the foot beneath her fingernails as it’s almost within her reach.
“… What’re you doing?”
Miya’s eyes widen as she swivels onto her backside and looks down at two pairs of black boots standing at the back of the car. She then pushes both her feet onto the underside of the vehicle, gritting her teeth as her leg muscles become more defined.
With a triumphant roar, Miya tilts the car upwards with its backside starting to sink down. The car’s decline stops abruptly with a crash at its hood, while Miya rolls onto her knees and raises her gun in front of her.
“What a greeting.” Loliel converses, holding the tip of the car with her palm above her head.
Koko curled down on the ground with her arms shielding her head, looks up at the car then Miya with a relieved sigh.
She then jumps up and points a finger at Miya with an annoyed look. “W-What were you trying to do? Kill us! You better have some decent explanation for—“
Miya walks over and grabs the foot from the ground turning it on its side.
“A-And she’s ignoring me!“
Loliel tilts her hands upward, allowing the vehicle to crash onto the ground beside her. She then walks over to Miya and bends down to her side eying the foot along with her.
“We heard from Dr. Yamauchi that you decided to leave off on your own. Did you engage any creeps while you were out?” Loliel inquires.
Miya shakes her head and gestures her head over to the woman’s deformed body now sitting on the floor beside Koko.
“She’s the only one I found. None of those weird creatures from last time.”
Koko looks over at the woman’s awry composition and turns around with her nose facing the sky. “Woow, you really know how to slay em’ dont’cha?”
Loliel turns her head away from the woman and stares at Miya as she continues to inspect the barefoot.
“… Neux…” Miya squints her eyes, gazing at a set of symbols on a piece of hanging flesh from the foot.
“Neux…? What does that mean?” Loliel questions.
Miya hands her the foot and stands on her feet. “The other half must’ve been cut off in the blast. Do you know any organizations with 'Neux' in their name?”
Loliel places the foot on the ground and stands as well, placing two hands on her hips with a thoughtful gaze.
She then walks past a few cars before looking back at Miya with a narrowed gaze through her holo-visor.
“Follow.”
Miya shoves both her hands into her jacket’s pockets and walks alongside her. Koko turns around and notices them halfway across the intersection and strides through the cars.
“H-hey you guys! Wait for me!”
. . .
After making their way past several blocks they reach a working district with large sky-scrapers leaning atop of each other on a moss-filled street.
Loliel looks over to a shattered car where a white-skinned creature’s muscled body lay decaying with its arms outreached. Along with wrenching white maggots, several insects with glowing red backs swarmed the inside of its hanging mouth and its ribcage; Bulging as if they were sucking onto something and then secreting a white paste from several holes on its back.
She then continues to step in front of two large open metal doors shooting up from the concrete ground. Miya walks to her side and looks down at the seemingly endless black abyss past the entryway.
“Does this have something to do with that weird name on that woman’s leg?”
Loliel nods her head. “Dr. Schwerner… I mean, my mom, had done some tests on a few specimens we’d taken back a while ago. They all have different numbers and symbols on multiple parts of their body. However, the only difference being that apparently they were owned by different organizations.”
Koko kneels beside another white-skinned brute slowly decaying on the ground in front of an office building, its husk liquefying and turning into a black ooze.
“It’s hard to run any tests with their bodies becoming like this within a few hours when they're killed. But that woman back there, she was different wasn’t she?” Koko infers.
“I agree. This is the first time that they didn’t release a creep and someone a lot more… Human-like.” Loleil comments.
“Could you identify the organization’s names if you were to see them?” Miya questions.
Loliel nods once more. “Yes, in fact, that’s part of the proposition that I had for you… When we fought last…”
Koko jumps from the ground and runs in between them with an irritant glare. “A-And we’re just going to act as though none of that back there happened!”
