Remembrance.

Miya's eyes widen with a jolt. She attempts to move, but her body movements are slowed by a blue gelatin foam surrounding her body. Though her eyes are blurry from her awakening trance, she peers around at her glass-like encapsulation as a few air bubbles escape the black air mask strapped to her nose and mouth.

A blue holographic notification appears in front of her eyes, giving her a 'Good Morning' message and a rundown of her medical status and other conditions. She hears a click with the blue foam being emptied in two vents at her sides, allowing her to breathe fresh air as the air mask unlatches itself from her face.

The top of the pod's glass ceiling raises itself on its axis with a puff of smoke. A long blue sofa rotated around in what seemed to be a living room, along with a second floor with a white bed and workshop desk at the far side. Miya dangles her feet off the edge of the white bed and looks around with hazed eyes.

She was back in her living quarters.

Miya jumps from the pod's bed onto the floor, her toes flexing outward as she winces from the pins and needles running down her lower torso. She looks down at her stomach, her body now covered in a white bodysuit with a Federation logo on her right breast pocket.

"M-Miya, you're finally awake!"

Before she could look to the side, Kyamyo latched onto her back and nuzzled her cheeks onto hers. Miya attempts to push her away by the face, but her arms fall to her sides with a droop of her shoulders.

"Alright, I'm fine… You can let go now-"

Miya notices a wetness sliding down her neck and looks back at Kyamyo. Her mask was now off, exposing her brilliant baby-blue eyes shimmering with tears.

"W-wait, you don't have to cry… I'm okay, see?" Miya pats her stomach and face with a nod. "See… Okay…”

Loliel slowly nods awake, sitting on the couch a few feet away while leaning on Vivi's shoulder. Koko yawns, lifts her head up, and peers above the sofa over to Miya with widened eyes.

"Y-you're awake! And healed! Wow, those things work fast!"

Miya nods over to Koko, still examining herself for any remaining bruises. Kyamyo continues to hold her tight from behind.

Loliel stands up and walks over in front of Miya, offering a warm smile with a cross of her arms.

"You had us scared for a moment. They told us that the rest of your injuries could be healed in your personel MedPod but prescribed it could take days."

"It wasn't that serious. I usually just inject myself with a booster to heal fatal injuries, though having them dealt with medical tech is okay too I suppose." Miya balls her hand into a fist, some of her strength finally returning.

Vivi runs over and bends down in front of Miya, surveying her torso, legs, and arms with a skillful gaze.

"I-Is everything alright dear? Did everything heal properly? Do you feel funny in any particular place?"

Vivi then caresses Miya's hair behind her ears and rubs her cheeks with a beading smile.

"Nwo… I fweel fwine… Thwank ywo…" Miya mouths with a shy glance to the side.

Vivi lets out a sigh and lifts herself back up. "Thank goodness, I… I didn't know what to do after I saw you collapse like that… It gave me quite the shock…."

Miya blinks with a tilt of her head. "Collapse…? What do you mean? You weren't there if I'm not mistaken."

"… Ha! You were incredible Miya! A real spectacle!"

They all look up at Maxim, race down the stairs, and slide over to Miya as if just hitting a home run.

"There I was in the midst of the heated battle! I couldn't see any of the bullets flying here, there, and everywhere but you were dodging them like it was some sort of reflex game! Then you were able to redirect his bullets using those weird floating objects! I'd never seen anything like that ever!"

Miya rubs her arms with a sidewards glance. "It was nothing, erm… Simply a life or death situation is all it was. My innate skills just took over and I-"

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Koko nudges Miya on the shoulder with a grin. "Give yourself some credit girl! We saw the whole thing on the Q! If I had known you had moves like that, I would've never tried to go head to head with you the first time we met."

Miya shakes her head. "Wait, wait… What do you mean you saw it on the Q?"

Maxim lifts his wrist up, revealing his Proatrix watch, beginning to latch around his arm. He then points it toward the white screen interface in front of the sofa, and it blinks on, revealing a video cast of Miya and the brute fighting mid-battle.

"Ah-"Miya walks before the screen, looking at the likes, hearts, and comments flooding the video with widened eyes.

"How did you post this?" Her brows furrow and she turns around, pointing at Maxim with a scowl. "You've only had your stupid Proatrix for one dam day!"

"W-wait, what? I didn't do it! I came back here and they were watching it themselves… Ask Koko!"

"What, me?" Koko looks at Maxim and then Miya with a confused expression. "I just told the stupid thing I wished I could see what they were up too and the screen turned on. I didn't record it or anything!"

Miya turns around and flicks her hand down the screen to scroll down. With a shutter, she drops to her knees, her eyes losing color as she trembles with a gasp.

Kyamyo runs to Miya's side with a worried glance. “W-what’s wrong Miya?”

Loliel walks over and taps the video's views stat, grazing her hand over the 70 million number, continuing to climb along with comments and hearts flooding the page.

"I think she's upset because of the large amount of views." Loliel points out while tapping the incoming comments.

Miya looks up at her with a scrunch of her eyelid. "Great observation. You should seriously put that latent skill to good use."

"I don't see what's so bad. You're famous." Maxim walks over and inches his face toward the screen. "OMG she's so small and cute I want to just eat her up, literally! — Wow, that sounds nice yet frightening…."

"Wait are those the comments?" Koko slides down the comment section as well. "If she works for the feds does that mean she can come to my homeworld if I'm in trouble? Ah, help, I think I'm being robbed by marauders, ahh — Hey Miya, these people really seem to like you. I don't see the reason to be upset."

Miya leaps from the floor and swipes the screen down, causing it to close.

"Hey! We weren't done reading!" Maxim and Koko exclaim in unison.

"You might not understand this, but Patrollers are suppose to be discrete operatives, or so I've heard… How am I suppose to work when my face is exposed to the entire QYI-net?"

Koko shrugs her shoulders. "Well, what's done is done. Not like you can get it taken down or something."

"Like hell I can't!" Miya fumes, trudging toward the door. "I'm going to go talk with my superior. Please, no more reasons for me to show myself on the net!"

The metal door slides open in front of her. She then looks to Adalae with her head pinned down, leaning on the wall outside near the doorway. Their eyes meet. Miya smirks and waves her hand, then turns around.

"You're welcome by the way. And you shouldn't have any celebratory kisses unless your enemy is either dead or their weapons are destroyed."

"W-wait! Stop!"

Miya groans and looks behind her at Adalae, now facing her with a brooding glance. "What is it? I'm kind of in a rush here."

Adalae's hand trembles as she grips them to her side. "Why… Why would you say such things before you fell unconscious? Sure you're irritating and bit conceited, but I… I would never wish anything horrible to happen to you, let alone hate you!"

"Then why do you keep acting as if I'm deliberately trying too make it harder for you and your kin? I've got better things to put my energy to you know."

Adalae lowers her head and takes a deep breath. "I just… I just have a hard time warming up to new faces. Ever since I was separated from my family, I made friendships and relationships that fell apart as soon as they found out about my heritage. But they're the first ones to truly accept me before and after learning my secret… One that I feel guilty about holding onto for so long…."

She then raises her head and walks in front of Miya, lifting her head with a smile. "But… The way that you sacrificed yourself for Maxim and I shows that you have good character… You're just a bit akward and bad at people skills like me."

Miya's eyes widen with furrowed brows as if insulted. "I am not akward and I'm the best at people skills! Do not compare myself to you!"

Adalae nods her head, hiding her smiling chuckle beneath her hand. "Yeah, yeah! I think we got off on the wrong foot before, and I want to get to know you… The real you… The one that's not clouded around all that ego and shallowness.

Adalae's cheek flushed red along with her galaxy-hair particles turning red and orange. "I saw that person fighting for me and it felt… G-good… Knowing that someone that strong was wanting to protect me…"

"Ahh! AHH!" Miya scratches the sides of her hair and then turns to the side. "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Do you hear what you're saying? L-Look, if I shake your hand and wrap this up can we end this conversation! Y-you're speaking nonsense, honestly!"

She then jerks around and latches onto Adalae's hand, with both of hers performing several shakes with clenched eyes.

Adalae looks at her with a warm gaze and nods her head. "Thank you for saving me, and the idiot probably hasn't said it yet so thanks for saving him too."

Miya places a hand on her hips, leaning up with a sly glance. "And aren't you going to tell them about that little kiss you two had?"

Adalae's hair shoots high into the air as her star particles glisten with red and white sparkles. "Ahaha! Let's keep that between us, okay? A-anyways, don't you have somewhere to be? Right! I'll see you later!"

She then turns around, performing a stiff, robotic walk back to the door. Miya snickers and turns around, making her way down the hallway.

Her head then glances to the side, her eyes radiating with a ruby glare while her mouth curls into a grin.

"They're so cute when they think they have a friend."
