The rising bright yellow sun shuns its rays on a long city street below it. The buildings along the road consisted of multi-colored townhouses on one side and different business dwellings on the other.
Vegetation eroded the streets, moss, and algae gliding along its now watery surface with some lavender ferns making their homes in the seats of broken-down trolleys and looted vehicles scattered along the road.
A small doe licks at a puddle at the side of a nearby discontinued train, its ears perk up as a large rumbling starts to emit farther up the street. The deer then trollops away as a roaring yellow hover-cycle strides down the street path, the water rippling below the floating vehicle.
“The animal life is quite the sight to behold… Fascinating!”
Miya looks back at the running deer while revving up the cycle, making it soar past the street and turn onto another corner. She takes in a deep breath of air and then exhales looking up at the sun creating glimmers of light in the overrun greenery.
“And the air is much more breathable here from Tavaus III. We had machines create oxygen pads for us, but this inhabitant’s wildlife… Plants, rather… Create a cleaner atmosphere through the intake of carbon dioxide. Maybe I can use my new influence as a Patroller to plant some for everyone else to enjoy back home!”
Miya grins at the idea while looking at a flock of crows soaring above her. She then narrows her eyes to an upcoming bridge with long metal poles attaching the two concrete links. She slows her acceleration and comes to a complete stop, gazing forward with a solemn expression.
A girl with shoulder-length black locks floating in a passing cold breeze stands in the middle of the way. She tucked both her hands in the pockets of her black officer’s coat accompanied by a set of black metal-flaked baggy jeans and black jumpers on her soles.
Her azure pupils were calm and still, continuing to eye down Miya through the holographic face mask equipped with her black helmet. She then rests her arms on the RP-13 battle rifle at an angle on her front.
Miya hops off her bike and looks back at Koko sitting in the upper-back cradle of the hover-cycle and takes her down, carrying her on her shoulder.
After a few short steps, Miya lunges Koko onto the floor several feet away from the lone individual.
“Loliel, was it? Here, I delivered your lost property.” Miya confirms while nudging Koko’s body with her boot.
Loliel looks down at Koko’s unconscious state and then back up to Miya. “I’m assuming that you want something in return.”
Miya gives her a sadistic grin before turning to the side, gazing down at the vast spread of water beneath the bridge then leading off into the rising horizon.
“Thought this place would be dirty, but it’s actually quite pleasant.” Miya comments.
Her eyes then widen, in merely a brief second she detaches her handgun from her holster and fires three shots in several directions; Two to her sides, and one a few inches away from Koko’s face.
Miya's eyebrows draw down along with her face performing a scowl.
Loliel performs a soft snicker and tilts her head to the side. “I just had to make sure you were the real deal. A lot of floaters come around claiming to be with the Federation, for the fear factor, I guess. But if you can see through our cloaking mechanisms, you’re somewhat military trained, or perceptive at the least.”
She performs a snap of her fingers, with three individuals all wearing the same officer’s uniform appearing at both her sides and the last bending down toward Koko.
On her left was a girl with jet-black skin and large yellow pupils pointing her rifle straight with drawn-down eyebrows. Her hair was that of a small flowing galactic river filled with bright blue and white lights that flew above her head.
On Miya’s right was a male with short red-spiky hair and fiery eyes. His uniform was different, as he wore white jumpers along with a white-sleeveless hood around his military garb.
At her front was a slim-metal female cyborg with a full black face mask covering her head. Disinterested in Miya, she flips Koko over and surveys her body with an orange glare of her helmet.
With a soft whir of her inner mechanism, Miya points her gun at the cyborg causing both of the individuals at her side to point their battle rifles at her with grim expressions.
“I don’t wanna shoot no infant now.” The young man on her right states.
“Put your weapon away before I have to shoot your hand off.” The girl to her right warns.
Miya's pupils dart to the reaches of her eyes, she then sighs and puts her gun back into her holster. “Your positioning is off.”
“What?” The onyx-skinned girl reiterates.
Miya turns her head to face the red-haired soldier. “You, boy on my right, I can tell that that’s your non-dominant foot that’s in front of your rifle. If you were to take that shot you’d have to move a few inches vertically to the left, giving me ample time to put a phaser between your eyes.”
She then turns her attention over to the girl. “And as for you, your nozzle is fixated on my head; If I were to duck down I’d have an eighty-seven percent chance to weave all your shots as you’d have to reposition yourself, allowing me to shoot you in the stomach…”
“… And if that wasn’t enough criticism, you both have no concern for each other’s safety. Even if you two did have correct stances, from both of your angles, all I’d have to do is move even a smidge and you’d both fire onto one another. I wouldn’t even have to do anything.”
The red-haired male looks down at his feet while the girl in front of him blinks with a blank stare.
Miya then walks forward, stalking past the female cyborg attending to Koko, and stands in front of Loliel.
“H-hey! No one said you could move.” The onyx-skinned female shouts while pointing the tip of her gun back onto Miya.
“I don’t have to worry about you two. The only one I came here to speak with was your Kapitän. If she has her weapon on standby, then you’re just trying to pose as intimidation, but that shit only works on, floaters, was it?”
Loliel continues to stare into Miya’s eyes for several seconds, their eyes entrapped as if they were waiting for one another to blink out of pressure.
The female cyborg turns around to Loliel and gives her a thumbs up. “Koko’s wounds have all been attended to… No fatal drugs, microscopic lifeforms, or mechanized parasites have been injected into her body either.”
Loliel looks Miya up and down before snapping her fingers toward her companions. “Maxim, Adelae, she’s fine for now, one of you secure Koko's bike. If she doesn’t have it she’ll be in another fit. Kyamyo could you help bring her back to the site.”
Kyamyo’s glass face gives a blue thumbs up as she lifts Koko in her arms and raises her from the ground. Maxim shrugs his shoulders and throws his rifle over his back before resting his hands atop his head while walking forward.
Adelae looks at him and walks past, the galactic particles in her hair turn from white to red with an enraged stomped foot into the ground.
“T-This isn’t right! What about what she’s done to Koko? We can’t just—“
Loliel gives her a cold stare, making Adelae gulp and rub her forearm while gazing at the ground. Loliel then returns her attention to Miya giving her a short smile.
“You had some questions earlier about some things. If you come with me, I’ll be happy to answer them for you as thanks for bringing her back.”
“And why would I ever trust you?” Miya retorts.
Loliel turns around another blast of wind making her hair flutter into the air.
“You said it yourself, you’ll know when I want you dead.”
