(Julius Argenti POV)
*CRACK!*
"Hmm?"
Being awoken by the sound of lightning was not a pleasant feeling. I yawned as I exited the tent. The rain poured down immediately soaking me in water.
"Ah!"
James yelped as the rain hit his skin. He also left the tent wondering what was going on. I looked around seeing other students opening their tents. It seems the lightning was loud enough to wake most people up.
"I checked and there was no forecast for a storm. It was supposed to be clear today."
I question the current events.
"Well, the forecast isn't always corrected Julius. It may be wrong."
Violet responded to me as she walked up to us. Her long hair was completely drenched, making her seem like a hairy monster from afar.
I also knew that the forecast was often inaccurate. Unlike our world, this world didn't have satellites for the same reason we didn't have planes.
Things that go up are usually shot down by flying creatures. Heck, the only reason why the people of this world knew that there were more continents was that an SS rank in the past flew to space, but that's a story for another day.
But my instincts were telling me that this wasn't natural. I extended my senses and felt traces of mana in the wind and rain surrounding us.
"Of course."
I had a wry smile on my face.
"What is it, Jules."
Amina also came up to us.
"This storm is not natural. This is definitely a test by Mrs Rumbles."
"Tsk"
Amina clicked her tongue as she analysed our surroundings. This was just the beginning. The real storm was coming soon.
I have to give credit to Mrs Rumbles as well. I'm pretty sure that the other class are experiencing the same fate. To be able to create a storm spanning thousands of acres was impressive and a testament to her strength.
Mrs Rumbles was only an A rank (albeit one of the strongest ones) so I wondered how strong S ranks and above were.
The winds were picking up now. Our tents were not going to last long in this weather.
"Everybody get up!"
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Violet shouted to the entire class. Most of them entered their tents again after noticing it was just a storm. She used mana to project her voice so that all the students heard them.
Hearing her voice, our class groggily left their tents.
"What is prez?"
One of our classmates spoke out with an irritated expression on their face. Being woken up in the middle of the night wasn't fun.
"There's a tornado coming. If you don't want to fly with your tents, you better pack up and try to find shelter. A cave would probably be optimal."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
He retorted back. He was on the verge of exploding. If he was thinking properly he would've realised what she was saying, but his lack of sleep and the rain pouring down were getting to him.
"Do you think this storm is natural? NO! You better start packing and moving otherwise I'll make you."
Violet used a bit of {Haki} to reinforce her speech. Intimidated, our classmates finally understood what was occurring. He nodded understanding what she meant.
With her warning, everyone else left their tents and started packing. Despite their annoyance, most of them were smart enough to understand staying in our tents in a storm like this wouldn't be fun.
In 5 minutes, the tents were repacking the crates we first found them in as we carried them with us. We even brought along the half-eaten bear.
I lead the way using my mana sensitivity to avoid all the dangerous animals lurking. Though it was pointless in the end since animals have better instincts than us and already hid when the storm first appeared.
I was moving towards a small mountain in hopes of finding a small cave for shelter. Though, even if we could find one, solid attribute mages could still create one by moving the rock.
We had the idea of burrowing underground, but we could be at risk of suffocation if the ground fell on top of us. This could also happen in the cave in the mountain, but there was less of risk.
'This can't be all there is to this test. All this is forcing us to do is migrate in the middle of the night. The only issue here would be everyone being sleep-deprived. There's a catch to this.'
Then suddenly, as if to rebuke me, the winds picked up forming a tornado. It was howling as everyone tried to hold on for dear life. I looked around me to see the cause of this.
For a moment I saw a shadow of a person in the sky. Even though I saw the silhouette for a split second I had no doubts about who that person was.
'She was watching us this entire time.'
"FUCK YOU!"
I turned around and curse at her, throwing two middle fingers at where I presumed she was standing.
Probably insulted by this, Mrs Rumbles increased the speed of the winds. We were struggling to stay on the ground as others were hanging on for dear life.
"You just had to do that Julius!"
Violet shot me an angry look. She was absolutely livid.
"I'm sorryyyyy..."
I tried to apologise as I started flying in the air but my voice was drowned out by the wind. Though I didn't stay in the air for long. James used his gravity attribute to increase gravity, counterattacking the upward force of the wind.
I created two {Water Whips} and attached them to the base of the tree and pulled myself down. I saw three other students flying away so I grabbed them with my {Water Whips}.
"Thanks, Julius."
"No problem. Just hold on and don't go flying."
Everyone used their abilities to keep themselves on the ground. After a quick headcount, we started trudging through the muddy forest.
We could barely see where we were going as it was pitch black outside only illuminated by the occasional flashes of lightning. The only way we could locate each other was with mana.
Some gas attribute mages tried to stop the tornado with their abilities but soon realised the futility of their actions. We would never be able to stop an attack from an A rank as we are now.
"Let's hope there are no other obstacles and we get to shelter quickly."
James commented as he walked beside me. He was still using his attribute to keep us grounded, so it was taking a toll on him.
*Squawk*
Approaching was some birds. I couldn't tell of which species they were from, but to be able to fly in this storm made them at least C rank.
"You've jinxed it, James."
Amina commented as appeared beside us.
"You've got to be shitting me."
I on the other hand started cursing.
