My Life After Death
Noble Politics

Noble Politics

(Julius POV)

Weeks had passed. I didn't see Amina again and I continued improving regularly. I managed to improve the mana efficiency of my burst step from 40R to 15R and could use it twice in a row.

"Excuse me, Mr. Argenti. Please follow me."

I was called out by an agent. I was on my way to class after I had finished breakfast in the cafeteria.

'I wonder what I'm needed for. Maybe Umbra wants me?'

This agent was leading me out of SUITE Headquarters. However, we were taking an exit I had never taken before.

Usually, when I left SUITE, I would enter the subway and exit out of a building in New Blackwell. But, this time we took an elevator that was inside the headquarters itself.

When I walked out, I saw we were in a massive mansion. This was the biggest house I'd ever seen, even with my two lives.

Waiting for me was Veronica. Shesignalledd for the agent to leave. He nodded and went back down the elevator.

"Hello, Jules did you miss big sister~?"

I hadn't seen her in a while since she had been on a mission.

"No, not really. You should have left for longer."

"Aww, you are going to break my heart."

She pouted. Even though I had known her for 2 years, I still couldn't get used to her beauty. Her expression would make any man die for her.

"Ok, ok I'll stop teasing you."

"No, you won't."

I immediately replied.

"Yeah, I won't... Anyhow, let's get to the reason why I called you here."

"Where we anyway."

"We are in the Moria mansion. Well... one of them."

"Nica, are you sure that I can come here?"

"Sure you can, you are teacher's disciple. You will be treated as one of the residents of this house. I called you here because I wanted to train you."

"Couldn't we do it at SUITE?"

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"This young girl was lonely and wanted some companionship."

Amina Moria was peaking from the corner of a room. I noticed her as soon as we arrived but I dismissed it.

"I wasn't lonely!"

She furiously denied it.

"Hahaha, you two are too cute. Another reason why I called you here is that I want to do what takes quite a bit of space. Why don't guys get to know each while I set up today's training."

She then left the room, looking like she teleported.

"What did she mean by when you are lonely? Don't you have any friends?"

"The only family that's here is my grandpa. My parents are fighting in the war and my older siblings are at Newstein. I had friends before, but they left me because they were jealous of my strength. Everyone else only wants to become my friend because I am a future S rank."

'That makes sense.'

I learned many things about nobles while at SUITE. Though the government held absolute authority in the human domain, the land was too big for them to manage.

They split the territory into many parts and gave them to different families to manage.

They decided against having elections for mayors because it would waste too much time and money. Also, it was a good way to tie down high-ranking mages.

The only elections that occurred were the ones that happened every 5 years for the prime minister of the entire human domain.

The nobles would be allowed to manage their territories with government inspectors occasionally monitoring them to check if they were doing anything illegal.

Even so, being a noble means you couldn't slack off. The nobles must provide something to the human domain, whether by providing goods or services.

However, the best way to raise your status as a noble is to provide good commanders and powerful mages to the army.

If a noble couldn't deliver, they could be demoted or even stripped of their titles. Conversely, if they provided excellent services to the human domain, they could be promoted.

Commanders were hard to grow and determine while mages on the other hand could be revealed when a person is 10 years old.

Though luck was part of becoming a mage, another major factor in determining the talent of a mage is genetics.

It is practically guaranteed that children of A ranks and above will have the potential to become mages and most of them are extremely talented.

That's why Vision bought me for so much. Desperate nobles would buy for many times that price as I was assured to reach A rank.

Then the nobles would have me impregnate several of their most powerful female mages so that child would be born with talent comparable to me or hopefully surpassing me completely.

Amina was an excellent candidate for a future partner as she was born with immense talent and was from a prominent noble house.

Any other family would pounce at the opportunity to set their children up with her.

That's why Amina couldn't make any friends. Everyone else was just opportunistic while the ones she thought of as true friends became envious and left her.

As a result, she has been left alone, especially now that she has no family here.

"The reason I called you here is that you could keep up with me. No one else my age could. I don't want you to fall behind and be alone again."

I was surprised. I thought because her parents and grandparent were S ranks, she would be spoiled and have an easy life.

I underestimated how the politics of the noble world could affect a person's psyche. Though I wasn't going to go easy on her.

"You will regret it. I will become stronger than you and I won't lose like last time."

"We'll see about that."

"Oh, you two seemed fired up. Looks like we have a new rivalry forming. That's good. Anyways my training course is done. You better be ready."

Veronica suddenly appeared. We went out to the courtyard and what I saw nearly made my eyes pop out of my sockets. We were going to be in a world of pain.
