My Life After Death
First Class [1]

First Class [1]

*Ring Ring Ring*

"It's already 7:15?"

I reluctantly awoke and descended from my bed.

Today was the first day of school and I didn't want to leave a wrong impression by coming late to class.

After finishing my morning routine, I dressed in my uniform and met up with Amina downstairs. She was half asleep, her eyes barely open.

"Amina, let's go."

"Hm? Oh, Jules, it's you. Okie, let's go."

She tried to sound as enthusiastic as possible, but the black rings under her eyes weren't convincing anyone. Maybe staying up till 3:30 am before the first day of school wasn't the greatest idea.

Although we could use mana to stave off our drowsiness, it was a bad idea. After we stopped using mana, the exhaustion would hit us at once and it wouldn't be surprising if we collapsed on the spot.

Even though it was only 8:00, the streets were busy with pedestrians walking with cars and horses on the streets. We walked to the train station before taking the train to the school.

We tried to get much sleep as possible, but that barely helped. After a 10-minute journey, we arrived at the massive front gate.

Students mingled out the front, chatting. They were all arrogant, thinking that they were the best for being in sector A.

Since the school was massive so it took a 3-minute walk before we could get to our classroom. On the way to our classrooms, we passed classes A2-A40.

The upperclassmen started a week later so only the first years were here today. However, based on my analysis of them, they didn't deserve their arrogance.

They could barely control their mana and it was leaking out unsteadily. As a mage, that was a basic sign of incompetence. Most of them weren't even an E rank yet which surprised me.

I only found E ranks as I passed A4. And only in my class were there some D ranks. We entered the classrooms and choose our desks next to each at the centre of the class.

"Wake me up when class starts."

"Yeah Yeah."

Amina laid her head on the table and fell asleep immediately. I also decided to get some shut-eye as well and closed my eyes.

I only blinked and the class was full. I quickly noticed someone powerful approaching. From years of training, I could detect if someone was coming. I suspected it was the teacher.

"Amina, wake up, the teacher is coming."

Amina groggily opened her eyes, while I focused in front of me.

The person approached and entered the classroom. She had long light brown hair, falling below her shoulders, with a well-rounded body. Her beautiful pinkish-red eyes gazed at the classroom, briefly stopping at me before analyzing the rest of the students.

She had an air of confidence around her. Her footsteps produced no sound while walking in a way that her centre of gravity was perfectly fixed in place.

She could fully control her mana, meaning that I couldn't sense her rank. Though with her demeanour, I could tell she wasn't a pushover.

Nobody noticed she entered the class, not even Amina. Everyone was still chatting with each other ignoring her.

"Excuse me class, would please quiet down."

Her voice wasn't loud. Yet everyone in the class heard it and fell silent. It was posed as a question, but she said it in a way that made it seem like an order. Nobody defied her.

Everyone turned and looked at her. Many boys in my class were infatuated with her beauty, but having to deal with Veronica for years made me immune to these types of charms.

"Now, you guys were being extremely rude by still talking even though I entered the classroom."

Her voice was delicate, yet it still commanded the room. The entire classroom collectively gulped. She then unleashed her {Haki}.

The entire class' eyes widened, shocked by the power she was emitting. People's faces morphed into fear, with everyone sweating and 2 people losing consciousness.

Still, I brushed it off. This level of {Haki} was nothing compared to what I had endured while being tortured by the sadist name Veronica Razum.

But I also knew she was holding back. If she unleashed her full {Haki} in the classroom, at best everyone would go insane. At worst, everyone would die. I was also included in this.

Although I was stronger than over 99.99% of the world's population, I was nothing compared to the top experts in the world.

Some of the stronger students managed to resist the {Haki} as well. I glanced around to see who did.

Everyone seemed normal until I saw a girl with lustrous purple hair and dark red eyes. Her hair seemed to be naturally radiant.

However, that's not what I found weird about her. Whenever I looked at her I got a sense of déjà vu. I felt I have met and known her before. But I didn't recognize her mana signature. I ignored it and focused on the teacher.

She retracted her aura. Everyone felt as if a weight was lifted off their backs and two unconscious woke up. After that incident, she started calling the role.

"Julius Argenti?"

"Present, miss."

Everything was fine she got halfway through the role.

"Amina Moria?"

Everyone was surprised when they heard the Moria last name.

"Amina Moria? As in Umbra Moria?"

"Probably. I heard he has a granddaughter."

"I didn't think she would actually be in my class."

"It's expected for her to be in class A1."

Everyone in the class whispered amongst themselves. However, the girl in question gave no response. I looked next to me and I saw Amina asleep again.

'What a klutz. I'll answer for her.'

"Excuse me miss, Amina is here."

I pointed at the sleeping Amina. The teacher nodded and was going to wake her up until another student volunteered.

"Miss, I'll wake her up."

"No don't..."

I trailed off. I tried to warn him but it was too late. Just as he was about to touch her, Amina's hand shot up and grabbed his wrist.

"Don't. You. Dare."

Amina's quiet voice rang through the classroom. Everyone became silent once again. The boy's face turned deathly pale. This is what I worried about.

Even though Amina wasn't an assassin like me, she received the same training as me and was the granddaughter of the greatest assassin. It was impossible for someone of a lower rank to sneak up on her, even while asleep.

'Haaa, what am I going to do with her.'

I chopped her on the head to wake her up properly.

"Oww, what was that for?"

She let go of the boy's wrist and he scurried back to his desk.

"Wake up and pay attention. The teacher's here. She just called your name."

She looked up and her eyes widened.

"Sorry miss, I am present."

"I see that Ms Moria. Next time, you shouldn't sleep so late before the first day of school."

"Yes, miss."

The role was marked normally as always before another incident occurred.

"James Schwarz?"

Nobody answered. Once again people started chatting because of the last name. On the outside I was calm but inwardly I was surprised.

The Schwarz family was a special noble family. They are a part of the 15 royals. These noble families were formerly the royal families of the various kingdoms before they became the current government. They were powerful bloodlines and each provided at least one S rank per generation.

However, said person wasn't in the classroom. The teacher was about to mark her absent when suddenly the door opened a dark-skinned student was standing outside. He had pitch-black hair and similar-coloured eyes that seemed to suck you in if stared too long.

"I apologise miss for being late."

"Even though you're part of the Schwarz family, that doesn't excuse you from being late. Now sit down."

During those exchange of words, the teacher once again unleashed her {Haki}, though only directed at James. But he was completely unaffected.

He walked inside the classroom, waved at the purple-haired girl and sat next to her.

'What relation does she have with her.'

"Violet Storm?"

"Present miss."

"Storm?"

"Isn't that the last name of the Hero of Light?"

"Yeah, it is."

Once again another name made a commotion. However, this was the loudest the class ever was. After all, the granddaughter of the strongest human was sitting right next to us.

"Quiet down class."

The teacher silenced us immediately. She wanted to finish the role without any more noise.

'It makes sense that those two know each other. The Storm family was given a noble title when Rebecca became the hero. The Storms must've wanted to make a connection with the 15 royals.'

However, even though it made sense, I had a sensation I couldn't shake off. I felt like met them before but I had never come in contact with Storm's nor the Schwarz's.

'No, it can't be. Are they Howard and Mia?'
