(Julius POV)
"Noo, grandpa, why do I have to go to Central High School."
"As the successor of the Moria Duchy, you must be educated and must meet with your peers. It is also a great place to learn how to become a great mage."
"I'm already smart enough. I excel in all my subjects. And can't you teach me how to be a mage? You're an S rank."
"Being S rank doesn't mean I'm perfect. I'm not a good teacher and we don't process the same attributes."
"You're just making excuses."
"Maybe I am. It is mandatory to go there and the government will force my hand. Plus, you will learn more than I will ever teach you. You'll make a lot of friends there as well and interact with other talented mages."
"Fine..."
Amina pouted. That face would make any man die for her. But we were used to it.
I was called by Amina so we could play more chess. However, when I got there I heard her arguing with her grandfather, while I was left standing awkwardly in the corridor.
"As a noble, I can bring butlers to come alongside me right?"
"Yes, why?"
"Jules, you are coming with me."
"HUH?!"
I was about to leave when Amina dragged me into this conversation. And she wanted me to come to school with her?
"It's not a bad idea for Julius to go to Central High School."
Central High School was a school located in the Northeastern part of the continent in the Newstein state.
Though it was a school, it encompassed a lot of the state. It was humongous, comparable to a small country back on Earth. Everyone who wanted to be a mage had to go to this school. It also served as a military recruitment camp as well.
Newstein existed exclusively to raise the next generation. Because of this, it was the most guarded state in the human domain and located far from the frontlines.
10 to 20 above S ranks were stationed there at all times. S ranks and above were strategic weapons and humanity only had approximately 400 of them to protect the population of 17.6 billion.
Though Central High School was famous for training mages, the school also allowed students to go into other career paths such as doctors and engineers, though you still had to pass an exam.
It served as both a high school and a university. To get into the school, you first had to choose the course you wanted to go through, the mage or regular course.
The regular course gave you the basic high school experience before choosing the career you wanted to specialize in, similar to Earth.
The mage course was different. To enter the course, the student must pass a practical exam, testing their strength and potential to become a mage.
Once enrolled, the student would train exclusively to become a mage, eventually working in the military.
The nobles also had to pass the exam as well, but they could have special privileges if they got into the schools, such as better dorms and bringing attendants with them.

Even though less than 0.01% of the population could be a mage, it still equated to over 27 000 students every year. So when they were selected, they were divided into 26 sectors, A - Z, and further divided into 40 classes.
The class you were in showed your strength and potential as a mage. The classes were constantly rearranged every month, so the rankings were accurate.
Even though there were over 26 sectors, only ones in the A sector were expected to be useful. They were the only ones who could ever hope to become C rank or higher.
"But, with his talent, he could probably pass the exam easily."
"But sir, aren't I a part of SUITE? I don't need to Central High."
"That's what I wanted initially, but after observing you, I realized that you are not suited for assassinations."
"What do you mean, sir? I've completed each mission perfectly."
"You have, but that's not what I meant by being unsuitable for assassinations. Your fighting style revolves around using your immense mana to overwhelm your opponents. Heck, your main weapon is a curved greatsword. You're too flashy."
"Yeah. But, was the point of training for so many years?"
"That training has not gone to waste. Your assassin training will help you in your journey as a mage. Rational thinking, understanding the minds of your opponents, mana control, detecting precise movements, analyzing and digesting information quickly. Learning these things will definitely help in the future."
"...Yeah, I guess."
I sighed in relief. I was pleased to know that my time at SUITE wasn't a waste.
"So then grandpa, can he come with me?"
"Sure. It will be an eye-opener for both of you. There are a lot of opportunities there you wouldn't want to miss. But, why shouldn't Julius just take the entrance exam."
"Well, he's my best friend and I want him to have all the luxuries I will get as noble. And, if attends as a regular student, he will be entangled with other nobles who want to take advantage of him. Plus, it will guarantee we would be in the same class."
"Attendants aren't supposed to take classes. Though, with his talents, nobles would harass him constantly, trying to marry him into their families. Fine... I'll call in a favour from the principal to allow Julius to attend the school."
"Yay!, Jules, you're coming with me."
"But why would nobles harass me? Aren't you backing me, so trying to affiliate with me would offend the Moria family?"
"But the Moria family isn't technically backing you. We may be friends, but you don't have a proper connection with us. The nobles are legally in right trying to assimilate you into their family."
"Then how do non-nobles stop the harassment?"
"They have the government protecting them. Even so, the harassment doesn't completely stop."
"Then can't they protect me?"
"No, they only protect those who have no backing at all. You have SUITE backing you."
"So why can't SUITE stop the advances?"
"SUITE doesn't exist in the eyes of the law. Having SUITE behind may deter most criminals, but can't help when dealing with the law."
"So the government can't protect me because I already have SUITE, but SUITE can't protect me because it doesn't exist. What the fuck is this situation."
"Yeah. You're probably the only person to have such a situation. That's why becoming Amina's attendant is the easiest way to avoid all this. Becoming her attendant means that have the protection of the Moria family. The only other option is engagement if you want to choose that."
"I'll take becoming an attendant."
"Same."
Me and Amina were of the same mind. I wasn't ready for such a commitment yet and I wasn't really attracted to her. I only thought of her as a friend. I'm sure she thought the same.
Though it was surprising I would randomly be going to school, I wasn't disappointed. It certainly would be interesting going to high school in another world.
However, I was worried about the devilish smile Amina was giving me. It was as if a predator was looking at her prey.
I sighed and avoided thinking about it. She would tease me all time and this is no different. I was used to her antics.
The entrance exam was near the end of this year. They were talking as if she'd already passed it. Though with her skills, she probably would.
We both turned 15 this year and the next year we would start high school. I heard from Amina that her 15th birthday party was the same as the previous years.
She had avoided conversations about marriage but next year it was probably inevitable. The legal age of becoming an adult in this world was 19, though engagement could happen as young as 16.
The government wanted many high ranking mages to have children because there was a high chance they could become powerful mages down the line.
"... so grandpa..."
*THUD*
Amina suddenly fainted. She was discussing school with Umbra when she collapsed.
"Huh, Amina what's going on? Are you alright?"
I suddenly rushed to her. It was unnatural for someone to faint when just talking. However, Umbra Moria showed no concern about her safety.
"Don't worry Julius, she's fine. Just put her on her bed."
"What do you mean she's fine, she just fainted."
"It has been happening recently. I've talked to a doctor. It's just a side effect from our recent trip."
"Side effect?"
"It's got to do with her attribute."
