Impractical Magic Chapter 68

After resting for a bit in the evening. I returned to the shop and gave some imbued magic crystals to Mrs. Helen since I have a lot of them left.

I then explained to her how to use my new inventions, she was really excited when testing them. I gave her one of each, so she can use it and give me some pointers and possibly new ideas.

"Why don't we make a display here in the shop?" [Helen]

"You mean like, on how they would work?" [Angelica]

"Yes, so that customers can have an idea for their use." [Helen]

"That's a great idea, Helen." [Angelica]

"Thank you." [Helen]

It may help in boosting sales, even though she doesn't look the part, she is fully capable of shopkeeping.

"Will you be imbuing crystals tonight?" [Helen]

"Yes, I came to drop this off and pick up the delivered ones." [Angelica]

Let's see... should I overhaul these or just bring a single bag? I think about it, as I looked at sacks upon sacks of magic crystals... "What a pain..." I thought...

I stretch out my arms and yawned.

"I'll be upstairs if you need me." [Helen]

"Okay, sleep well, and thank you for the hard work." [Angelica]

Helen with a nod went up to sleep while carrying Sadie in her arms. I closed shop and waited inside till about midnight.

(Knock-knock)

I open the door and see Blake and Maria together. We do this twice a week since I started doing business.

I stayed at the shop till midnight and if I didn't return at the inn by then. That means that I was going to imbue magic crystals and Blake and Maria would pick me up, then we'll go to the lake.

"How is Mooly?" [Angelica]

"She's sound asleep." [Maria]

"Alrighty. Blake, can you carry this for me?" [Angelica]

"Leave it to me." [Blake]

Blake picks up a sack and he wobbles a bit.

"Hmm... try holding this Blake." [Angelica]

"Okay, then what?" [Blake]

I give him a wind-enchanted magic crystal.

"Try carrying the sack and think of it, as if it was light." [Angelica]

"Oh?! The weight is gone!" [Blake]

I just discovered something new, this can be very helpful in construction. We all got to the lake, each carrying a sack of crystals.

If someone saw us they may mistook us for gravediggers. We wore hooded capes, a sack on our backs, and a fire-enchanted magic crystal as light instead of a torch. You can say that we've now leveled up lol.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Three sacks... this may be able to last us three weeks or a month, but considering these are new inventions, it may get sold out pretty quickly.

That would be, one enchant per sack. Fire, Wind, and Water. I open a single sack and peeked inside "Whew that's a lot!" I muttered.

I dragged the sacks over the water before it sinks, I used the crystal again this time to make it float. When I got to deeper water, I started to imbue them.

I'm gonna try imbuing different elements at the same time. This is also my first time imbuing this many... I hope I won't fail, for it will be a kick in the... never mind...

~~~Maria~~~
Angelica is about to imbue a vast amount of crystals at the same time. Doing her normal routine of floating on the surface and looking up at the night sky.
The magic crystals began to resonate and fly around her, one by one they float, forming a circle. Wait... three circles?
She starts to imbue them. The formation of circles forms atop of one another, each glowing at different colors. At the bottom, the crystals emitted a red glow, in the middle blue, and up top yellow-green.
Then, the magic crystals moved in a gear-like fashion. The top and bottom parts moved clockwise and the middle moved counter-clockwise.
The glow was very intense. I was sure that it was completely visible in the city as it illuminated the lake.
"She's taking a bit longer than usual." [Blake]
"Yes." [Maria]
Blake tries to start a conversation, but I cannot think of any good answer. Angelica is indeed taking her time, it should've been finished in a few minutes or so, but it is almost thirty-five minutes.
"Hey, do you see that?" [Blake]
"What?" [Maria]
"Those lights in the woods." [Blake]
"Blake, if you are trying to scare me stop..." [Maria]
I was getting scared, I never liked scary stuff in the first place. Both Blake and Angelica knew that and they sometimes scare me.
"There it is again." [Blake]
I now see the lights, they're flickering behind the trees opposite of us, slowly getting nearer.
"Do you think they're bandits?" [Maria]
"It's possible..." [Blake]
I readied my staff and cast ▪Night-vision▪ and ▪Falcon Eye▪ Only then that I realized that the city folk was watching at the banks of the lake.
They were watching this amazing light show with their children and families. The flickering lights came from the torches they held as they navigated through the woods.
We also see a few merchants selling alcohol and snacks to the spectators. This spectacle lasted for exactly one hour and twelve minutes.
"It's ending." [Blake]
The glow receded into the crystals and they now have the color of their elemental properties. The lake again darkened, and what followed was applause and whistles from the spectators.
~~~Angelica~~~

When I finished imbuing the crystals. I heard clapping and a few whistles from far away but I cannot see where they were.

While the magic crystals were still floating around me I swam back to Maria and Blake. They don't seem to be alarmed, so it was probably alright. As I got to the shore, I tensed up when the cold air hit my body. I also checked my hands and saw that the wrinkles were huge.

"Here." [Blake]

"Thanks." [Angelica]

Blake covered me with a towel. I used a fire-enchanted crystal to make it warmer. Fire, enveloped the towel as it hung from my back. Dropping the coldness to a comfortable temperature.

"What you did was great! It was like a light show!" [Maria]

"Really?" [Angelica]

"Yeah. The applause you just heard is from the city folks." [Maria]

"How long was I imbuing?" [Angelica]

"About an hour..." [Maria]

"One hour?!" [Angelica]

I cannot believe it, I haven't even noticed that time flew by. That was dangerous...

"Ugh..." [Angelica]

"Here's an energy potion." [Maria]

Maria offered me a potion when she saw me massaging my temple. This drained me quite a bit, haven't I gotten used to imbuing already? Or is it just because this is a crap ton of crystals?

Because I was tired, we went straight to the inn to sleep. Hugging this cute Mooly pillow gave me a good nights rest.

The following morning at breakfast, when I read the news it goes like this.

"Has a goddess finally descended in Cagban city?! Descending on the staircase of lights during midnight. The residents went to the lake as soon as they saw it from their homes. When it finally ended, she revealed herself at the shore with her radiant wings of fire."

"..." [Angelica]

"What's that?" [Blake]

"Can I read it too?" [Maria]

"Mmn?" [Mooly]

The three of them looked at me as I moved the article uninterested to the side of the table and ate my bread. Curiously, they started reading it.

"There is a goddess?! I wanna see her!" [Mooly]

"..." [Angelica/Blake/Maria]

You're looking right at her Mooly...
