Impractical Magic Chapter 65

"Whoa, amazing!" [Mooly]

"Do it again! Do it again!"

"Heheh." [Maria]

"My... thank you for expanding the road, Maria." [Michelle]

"No need to thank me, I just wanted to help." [Maria]

It has been six days since we've stayed in Libang. Blake and I trained the villagers in sword fighting then Maria taught them magic. Hehe, it's like what my parents did for the kids at the mines. While staying here we decided to improve their village lifestyle.

Maria was erecting walls and making roads with earth magic. Blake helps out with hunting monsters and food. Then I, imbuing magic crystals.

I got the magic crystals from Jose, you might ask how I got them from him despite this distance. What I did was I sent Kate and Regina to him to fetch the crystals and paid him the money that I earned through selling the stoves. I guess this pretty much covers all of the villagers.

I asked Michelle to use her telepathy as a means of communication and requested them to get semi-low-quality magic crystals. It's not like I'm stingy or anything, even low-quality ones will do the job, but they are also aren't cheap...

I asked Kate and Regina to buy something as a surprise for Michelle. Hopefully, they'll be here by the evening.

At this time, we saw how good Mooly was with a pitchfork... I'll just imagine it as a spear. She was truly capable of fighting by herself, but not to the level of Blake and I. Steven has really trained her well in just three months.

Maria is having fun teaching her students some Novice and Apprentice level magic. She even found one that can use Heal and Supportive magic.

While I have to stay locked in my room to fully concentrate on imbuing the crystals. Good thing that the distance of each house is quite far in between, yet our home is now situated in the middle of the village.

For now, I'm imbuing six magic crystals at the same time. It should be noted that when you imbue two or more crystals, they would go and float around you as you imbue them.

I'm giving them the fire enchant. Staying in this quiet village gave me a lot of ideas and I'm trying out various inventions as we speak.

Apart from cooking, I also used it to heat up water for a bath. Then, it could be used as a light source at night. Be it outside or indoors, so they don't have to buy candles or lamps anymore.

They can also use it as a heater for winter time and because my enchant has a low consumption of energy, they can now melt the snow from the roads to make them passable.

Well... with my wind enchant they pleasantly slept at night from the crystal fan. I also asked Maria to make three windmills, at first she doesn't know what a windmill is. When I told her about it, she said that it was ingenious and I should tell this to grandfather. Haven't they discovered how to harness the wind and water yet?

As for its use. Since nothing here runs on electricity, they can just use it like the early people did for milling grains and pumping water.

Using my wind enchant as a power source, it can run indefinitely.

My water enchant provided them with clean water to drink and bathe, but I don't know if it has any valuable minerals in it though...

They could also use this on their crops. No more problems with water shortages~

When I finished imbuing the crystals I exit the room.

"Ahh, are you finished?" [Steven]

"Yes, father." [Angelica]

"Thank you for your hard work." [Steven]

"I'm just giving back the kindness you've given me." [Angelica]

"Hahah! My beloved daughter, you are exactly like your mother." [Steven]

"Father you're messing my hair..." [Angelica]

"Oops, my bad." [Steven]

Steven grabbed me and roughly petted my hair. I'm not mad at him for doing it, in fact, it made me happy. I wish my dad in my previous life is like this...

"Father, what kind of enchant would you like to have on your weapon?" [Angelica]

"Hmn... can you tell me again the effects?" [Steven]

"Fire enchant lets you cut anything with ease. Wind enchant makes your attacks quicker and your weapon weightless. Water enchant makes wounds bleed harder without closing them." [Angelica]

"Can you try putting the wind enchant then? I think out of all of your enchants, that isn't the most deadly." [Steven]

"Ok-ay..." [Angelica]

That kinda hurt, it's not like I can go and pick the effect or something...

Oh yeah. I forgot to say that I've now discovered the effect of water enchant. We found out what it did when I accompanied Blake during one of his hunts. Water enchant functions much like a normal weapon, but once you get cut, the real horror begins.

I slashed a ground bear in the arm. The effect was terrifying, even with a small cut, blood gushed out like a fountain, it was like someone attached a tube and started a freaking water pump.

It made a big mess as it ran around and bled to death... Holy shit, I don't even wanna accidentally cut myself with this, so I made a mental note of it...

Evening came and Blake returned after a good hunt. Kate and Regina followed soon after.

"Tonight we shall have a feast!" [Steven]

"Yeah!!" [Everyone]

Regina, handed me over a bag full of crystals, so heavy...

"And the thing?" [Angelica]

"It's on my dragon, you can't possibly expect me to carry something like those right?" [Kate]

"I guess..." [Angelica]

"Thank you for giving me those magic crystals." [Kate]

"Huh? Who said that I'm giving those for free?" [Angelica]

"Wah?! My salary can't cover that many!!" [Kate]

"I was just joking godmo-" [Angelica]

"Kyahh!" [Kate]

"-ther... aside from that. I have discovered more inventions that they can use. I'll give them to you once I finished imbuing these new crystals that you gave me." [Angelica]

"Really? Thanks!" [Kate]

Apart from giving magic crystals to the villagers. I've also given some to the children at the mines. I was sure that it would help them greatly.

Everyone was having fun. Cooking, eating, and chatting together. It was such a festive feeling.

As the celebration was nearing a close. Kate, brought over her dragon by the table, there were two huge things tied on its sides covered by a cloth.

"Can you two help put this on the table?" [Angelica]

"Upsi-daisy." [Steven]

"Whoa, this thing is heavy!" [Blake]

It hit the table with a (Bagag!) Mooly who was talking to the other children came when she heard it.

"What is that?" [Mooly]

"Heh, a surprise." [Angelica]

"Surprise? For who?" [Michelle]

"For you! Mother! Happy birthday!" [Angelica]

I pulled back the cloth and it revealed two greatswords side by side with different designs.

These two swords had the same price as two full bags of low-quality magic crystals. They weren't cheap because only a few people buy them.

Those who are wealthy enough to obtain them brought them home as decoration. Even if I call them decorations they are still fully functional or battle ready. Only a few people could wield them, like dwarfs, but they mostly like swinging their huge hammers instead.

The reason these greatswords are functional is to show off the skill of the blacksmith. They find pride in creating it, not only because they are hard to make, but they also need to be precise, with their different length and thickness. They have to take great care in balancing out the weight, it would be problematic if one part is heavier than the other. Also, they need to spot for any weak points to prevent the blade from chipping or bending easily.

"Angelica... this..." [Michelle]

"Give it a test." [Angelica]

Michelle held the handle and tries to lift it up, but it wouldn't budge.

"Think of it as if you were lifting a knife." [Angelica]

Michelle closed her eyes and started to concentrate.

"Uwow..." [Michelle]

As she did what I said. Everyone who was present had their mouths wide open, even Blake and Maria.

Michelle raised the greatsword up with just one hand. Its handle is as long as her neck and head, from the torso to the foot is the blade, about half the thickness of the table.

Michelle's eyes glittered, as she looks at me smiling.

"Well... give it a swing..." [Angelica]

She stood in front of a tree.

"You're not planning on..." [Angelica]

"Hyah!" [Michelle]

She swung the greatsword with such force that when it hit the ground. It made a human-sized dent in the earth and as if watching an anime, there was a sound of crackling and the upper part of the tree slowly slid diagonally and fell.

Michelle turns to face me and started running in open arms.

"?!" [Angelica]

"Why are you running my daughter?!" [Michelle]

"Don't you run at me while holding that thing!!" [Angelica]

Despite open arms, she's still holding the greatsword. Seeing her running effortlessly with that huge hunk of steel frightens me...

The next morning, I gave the other one to Mooly just for the lolz. That cute innocent appearance, matched with a weapon two times of her size is a lot more terrifying...

Kate and Regina left early in the morning. Kate, went to the mines to deliver my new inventions for the kids and Regina had gone back to the capital. It's not like they can stay here for too long because they had their own duties to attend to.
