Chapter 76 - Dinner

Chapter 76 - Dinner

Mikey and Lucy enter the dining hall. Standing next to the dining table, is Ignis.

"Thank you for escorting them here Reinheim." Ignis says with gratitude.

"Of course, I will get back to what I was doing." Reinheim bows and leaves.

"Now, come and sit. This food is some of the most delicious in our entire country. It's very healthy aswell. Master Chef is the one who prepared this. He is nervously waiting in the kitchen." Ignis invites Mikey and Lucy to the table and they both sit. He sits across them with some Nether speciality aswell.

"Why is he nervous?" Mikey asks.

"Well, he is very careful with each dish he makes. His life goal is to become the best chef to ever exist. An unusual goal, but it seems attainable with his skills. His cooking is really something else." Ignis says.

"Normally, he isn't that nervous, since everyone in this castle and the people that visit the king already had his cooking and approved of it. But you're the first humans EVER who will try out his cooking. That's why he is nervous."

"With that said, let's eat first, after that, I will tell you why I called you here." Ignis suggests. Mikey and Lucy get to eating aswell.

After taking the first bite, Lucy's eyes light up. "THIS IS SO GOOD! WHAT THE HELL!"

Mikey tries some aswell and he's left speechless. "Wow..." He takes another bite. "This is almost the best thing I've ever had."

"Can we meet the chef?" Lucy asks.

"Sure, go through that doo-" Ignis points at the door leading to the royal kitchen, before he finished talking, Lucy and Mikey both already rushed out and entered the royal kitchen.

"WHERE IS THE MASTER CHEF?!" Lucy asks one of the chefs in the kitchen.

"He is in his office, over the-"

Knock knock.

"Who is it?" The master chef asks. "COME ON IN!"

The door opens. "Are you the master chef?" Mikey asks. "Yes, oh no... was my food so bad that you had to make a complaint about it directly to me?" Master Chef slams his head on the desk. "I HAVE FAILED AS A CHEF!" He starts tearing up.

"No, I think you misunderstood." Mikey comes up to the chef, who looks up.

"YOUR FOOD WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER HAD, WHAT EVEN ARE THOSE FLAVOURS? HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?" Lucy starts ranting on and on to the master chef while Mikey nods at everything she says.

"You guys... THANK YOU!" The chef rushes out of his office, and starts cooking more food.

"Why did he just suddenly?" Lucy asks as she looks at him in the royal kitchen.

"Master Chef is always like this. Nervously waiting in his office waiting for a feedback from the guests. Whenever the feedback is positive he gets a sudden surge of motivation to cook even more. He truly is the best chef! I hope to be like him one day!" A young elven chef apprentice says while tearing up.

Mikey and Lucy decide to head back to the dining hall and eat the food before it gets cold.

After finishing their meal, Ignis starts talking about the expedition and Master Chef brings a special, sweet dessert.

"So, we will be leaving at the noon and going through a path that goes into the mountains. We will be travelling with Elven horses whose are extremely fast and agile. We should get there by the end of the day after. So we will be travelling for one and a half day. With stops of course." Ignis starts.

"Who are we going with? Besides you and Eula?" Mikey asks.

"Two other commanders who were at the negotiatons with Eula. They're both young with a lot of potential. One is a man named Rook, the other one is a woman named Alicia." Ignis answers. "By the way, can the two of you ride horses?" He asks.

Both Mikey and Lucy shake their heads.

"Hmm, I figured. Well, even if you did, I am not sure you would be able to ride them since Elven horses are tougher to tame. But, even though they're so fast, they're still pretty big. Miss Lucy, you can travel with Eula on her horse, and you mister Mikey can either travel with me or the other young man. I am sure you two would like to travel on the same horse since you're a couple, but it can't be helped." Ignis apologizes.

"Actually, it's fine, we have a way to travel." Lucy winks at Mikey who asks. "Do we?"

"Of course, my dragons." Lucy answers. "But, won't that exhaust you?" Mikey worries. "It will, but I have my own event quest, remember?" Lucy says, Mikey realizes that she plans on training as much as possible.

"May I ask you, what do you mean by a dragon?" Ignis curiously asks. Lucy explains her elemental powers briefly and explains that she can summon dragons that way too.

"I see, what an incredible power. Although, I would recommend that you don't do that." Ignis suggests.

"Why is that?" Lucy asks.

"You see, Dragons and Elves go back a long time..." Ignis starts explaining past disputes between Dragons and Elves. "And that's why you don't want to just fly around with a dragon in the skies." He adds.

"That's too bad then, so we will have to travel with your Elven horses afterall, what are they?" Mikey asks.

"What do you mean what are they?" Ignis asks back.

"Well, I personally only know normal horses, not Elven horses." Mikey answers.

"Normal horses? Elven horses are the normal ones in this world." Ignis answers back.

"Well, we aren't from this world." Lucy jumps in.

"Oh yeah, that's right. Well, I guess I will compare them to raptors and dwarven mules then. Elven horses are very agile and have a lot of endurance. They have a really long lifespan aswell, this is because they have a similar type of blood as us Elves. They are physically weaker than raptors and aren't as durable as dwarven mules, but that's where their speed compensates for them." Ignis describes.

"Mhmm, well, it's kind of hard to compare since we don't know about Dwarven Mules or Raptors, but I think I understand." Mikey replies.

"Wait, do those horses have pointy ears like you Elves?" Lucy asks.

"I think I saw one when we entered with Eula." Mikey says.

"Yes, they do have pointy ears, if you saw them then that must have been the night guard. Well, you will see how good the horses are for yourself tommorow.

Anyways, back to the main point. Since we will be travelling for one and a half day, we will stop by a village called Fior. We will spend the night there and move on from there." Ignis pulls out a map of the surrounding area. The royal city can be seen in the center of the map. Far to the north-east, there are mountains, he points at them.

"This is where the village Fior is, and this is where the village called Heaven is." He says and points.

"I've been meaning to ask, but why is it called Heaven? Eula told us a little bit about it, but not any details." Lucy asks.

"Well, it received its name because of the peacefulness there. Dwarves, Elves, Dragons, Monsters. All kinds of creatures live in harmony there. And besides th-"

"I am sorry to jump in... but dragons?!" Lucy asks in surprise. "Aren't they your arch-enemies?"

"Well, to be exact. Dragonkin. They're a hybrid between a Dragon and another strange species. To be honest, they look similar to you humans, actually, they look the same, besides the fact that they have dragon features. Some have wings, some have horns, some have tails, you get the idea. They are direct descendants of dragons, which simply shows how peaceful Heaven is...
