Chapter 66 - Time To Stop Holding Back

Chapter 66 - Time To Stop Holding Back

"I would like to ask you something if you don't mind," Mikey walks up to Roger.

"Sure, but in return, I want you to answer my questions aswell," Roger looks at Mikey.

"I am okay with that. First of all, why did you not react to Alayen's announcement like everyone else did? You stayed calm during the whole process." Mikey asks.

"I saw it coming, let me explain. I got to this continent from the east, when I came to this world, I spawned on a big island with a bunch of people, that includes Alayen," Roger replies. "Several people from that group already died, but that's besides the point. When we departed to this continent, we explored a bunch of smaller islands on our way here, on one of them we found this strange old man. His ranking was 333," Roger says and notices that Mikey is shocked by this information.

"You know him?" Roger asks Mikey based on Mikey's facial expression. Mikey tells him how he got to know him, and that his friend (Zoro) fought him during the bounty event. Mikey also mentioned that the Old Man and Zoro are travelling together at the moment.

"What? How did he travel so far in such a short time then? You came from the far south, and I met him on the far east." Roger says, he wouldn't even believe Mikey, but Mikey gave him a detailed description of the old man, so there's no way that Mikey is lying.

"Must be some kind of an attribute..." Mikey replies.

"I guess so, however what I wanted to talk about was what this man told me. He told me his predictions, it was thanks to these short swords that he talked to me, I'll explain what they are later." Roger points at the short swords at his back, Mikey planned on asking about them earlier, because normally, you would just put your weapons inside your inventory, and yet, Roger has them on his back.

"The old man predicted the bounty event, he didn't say much, but his words were puzzling, it was hard to decipher what he was trying to tell me, but once the bounty event happened, it all made sense all of a sudden. After the bounty event ended, I decided to trust the Old Man's second prediction.

His second prediction sounded like this: "The Fair Folk shall assail mortals, for they hath absconded with their domains." After the bounty event ended I decided to decipher it, I knew something was coming but I didn't know when or where from it was coming. Now I know.

"So, you're telling me, that this old man is a seer?" Mikey asks. "When we met him, he lashed out on Zoro, but his words weren't that confusing.

"He spoke normally to me aswell," Roger says. "When he started predicting the future, his purple eye started shining brightly and he started spewing those words that made no sense at the time. I think one of his attributes allows him to predict the future somehow," He adds.

"That's the only reasonable explanation..." Mikey responds.

"Alright, my second question, those swords on your back, why don't you put them in your inventory?" Mikey asks.

"Yeah as I said I was going to talk about that, they're a relic, which is also the reason why that old man got interested in them." Roger gives a confusing answer. "A relic?" Mikey asks to confirm. "What do you mean by relic?" He asks.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

"So, you know how there are weapons that are enchanted with either blue or purple affinity?" Roger asks Mikey, who pulls out his Duskblade and says; "Yeah, purple ones have one special ability, while the blue ones don't have special abilities, but they're stronger in some other way, like sharpness or durability." Mikey answers.

"Yes, precisely. Relic weapons are a combination of both, and also have more than one special ability. They're also unbreakable, but cannot be put in an inventory. Additionally, a relic isn't something that you can just find lying on the ground. Well, technically you could, but that doesn't mean that you're going to be able to wield it. A relic chooses its owner, which is exactly why that old man was interested in me and decided to tell me the future. He trusted me because a relic chose me as its owner I guess?" Roger says unsurely.

"He told you his predictions simply based off the fact, that you have been chosen by a special weapon as its wielder? To be honest, that actually sounds like something that the old man would do..." Mikey says and stays quiet for a moment.

"Well, now to my third question: What do you plan to do? Do you plan to be one of the people negotiating with the Elves? Do you plan to escape from this Island? Do you intend to fight the Elves?" Mikey asks a series of possibilities.

"The responsibility of being one of the negotiators is very heavy. I personally don't want to have a part in that. I would like to meet that old man and ask for guidance, but since he's travelling with your friend, I imagine they're too far away from here. I don't plan to escape from the island, that isn't my way of doing things, even though it could be the best course of action. I am going to gather information about the Elves, as much as I can. I will give the information to the people whom I trust." Roger answers every single one of Mikey's questions.

"Gather information? How exactly?" Mikey asks out of curiousity. "I have my way of gathering information, so that's what I will do." Roger gives a mysterious answer.

"Here comes my question, what do YOU plan to do?" Roger asks Mikey.

"I will make sure that we don't go into a war. However, I am going to need your help. You said you are going to gather information, if you give me that information, I'll be one step closer to winning the negotiatons, and stopping the war." Mikey answers.

"Why should I entrust you my information? What's in it for me?" Roger asks again. "Since the Emerald Nugget Shop opened, players can trade their nuggets. I will give you Five Thousand Emerald Nuggets." Mikey announces.

"I see, the people who defended their bounties received a bunch of Emerald Nuggets. The only condition is, that they can't give their Emerald Nuggets to themselves or someone else who had a massive bounty, this rule was made so that the strongest players can't just trade with eachother and become even stronger." Roger says.

(This announcement was made when Mikey was asleep, it was made so that people with higher ranking can help out people with lower rankings, only if they want to however. Mikey received twenty thousand Emerald Nuggets that he can giveaway.)

"But why are you so eager to stop the war from happening?" Roger asks Mikey. "I want to limit the casulties on the human side," Mikey says, "I've seen too many people die who didn't deserve it," Mikey clenches his fist.

"Good point, there are people on this continent who are prepared to die, but there are also innocent people who didn't even join the bounty event, people who just want to start a new life in this world," Roger agrees with Mikey.

"Alright, I will give you the information, but I don't want those five thousand nuggets. I will name my price after this entire dispute ends." Roger suggests. "I don't have a problem with that, but I won't agree to do something that is too demandful from you." Mikey remarks.

"Of course, I am aware of that, but before I go one last question," Roger says. Mikey is expecting some kind of a question regarding the war.

"Are you and Lucy dating?" Roger asks, Mikey isn't shocked by the question itself, but by the fact that it was Roger who asked him the question.

"No, me and Lucy aren't dating, why would you ask about that?" Mikey asks. "I don't know, out of curiousity I guess." Roger says as he leaves the area and dissapears into the darkness.

"What a strange guy." Mikey tells himself and starts leaving aswell. "HEY MIKEY! WAIT FOR ME!" Alayen shouts at him from distance.

"Alayen? What's up?" Mikey asks him. "We are going to have a meeting in two days at the Unity Nexus. Every community representative is inviting some people from their community. I already asked Roger, he said that he would join me. I would like to invite you and Lucy aswell, even if you don't think you can bring any news to the table, I want you guys to be there, since you could help us a lot," Alayen begs Mikey.

"You're that desperate to stop the war from happening?" Mikey asks him. "Yes, I don't want to see innocent blood being spilled again," Alayen replies.

"Don't worry, I plan on helping in the war, I will join you on the Unity Nexus meeting, and as for Lucy, I will ask her, although I don't see why she would decline either," Mikey answers.

"Thank you Mikey," Alayen stands up and they shake hands, after that, they both head their own ways.

"I guess I can't hold back anymore, if I want to actually stop this war." Mikey reveals his secret...
