[Congratulations you have survived the first night]
...
[Is what I would like to say]
Mikey looks at the tab that just appeared in front of him, what does it mean by "is what I would like to say?" He thinks to himself.
[You're all too weak, both the ones who survived and the ones who died]
[Multiple civilizations from differents parts of the universe and multiverse are going through this process as well, but you humans... you're the weakest of them all]
[I put you into a world, a world which all one million of you know very well]
[And yet 30 000 of you died after the first night?]
[You are too weak and that's why I have to clean out the trash from this world]
[You will now be assigned a number that will appear above you, this number will range from 1 all the way down to 970 000. That's the number of all of you who are still alive. The lower the number, the more potential you have shown throughout the first night. That means that whoever has number 1 is right now supposed to be the strongest out of everyone. But remember, this doesn't mean that you are stronger than someone with a lower rank from you, so be aware]
[I am giving you TWO DAYS to prepare for your first fight against one another human. I will give you more details tommorow]
The last tab dissapeared, Mikey starts thinking.
"So, this whole time there was someone behind these 'tabs'? I guess that makes sense, but there is so much I don't understand... multiverse, other civilizations? Ranking? Wait ranking, there should be a number above my head."
Mikey looks above himself and sees the number 13. He got happy but also a little worried at the same time.
"Number 13, not bad at all. However, that is not surprising considering how much of a show I put on there. The real problem is that there were 12 people who did better than me. That worries me. On the other hand, there is 970 thousand of us which means that I am one of the strongest, that's good."
The tab also mentioned something about fighting another human? Does that mean we will have to fight against eachother? I don't want to kill someone... I promised myself that I wouldn't after what happened...
Mikey stares into the sunrise for a few seconds, he then gets up. As he is getting on his feet he receives another message.
[You have accumulated over 100 Emerald nuggets for the first time, you can redeem your reward here]
Another tab appears below this one saying "claim your reward."
Mikey taps on it without thinking about it too much, the tabs dissapear and a new one pops up saying that he received an attribute point which he can apply to any of his stats.
"An attribute point? Right, there is that status thing here. Open status!" Not like that's just going to magically open it, is it...
The status tab appears in front of Mikey's eyes.
So it really is that convenient huh, he thinks to himself.
[Name: Mikey Hunt]
[Highest Achievement: Craft a tool out of Diamonds]
[Special Attributes: Hidden(will show in 2 days)]
[Skills: None]
[Strenght: 15]
[Speed: 18]
[Stamina: 13]
[ONE ATTRIBUTE POINT AVAILABLE]
"Hmm, okay, I would like to put my one attribute point into my stamina... is that gonna do it?"
Mikey's status dissapears.
[Your status is being updated]
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
[Your status has been updated]
His status pops back up, his stamina has actually increased by one. The status then dissapears again.
"Hmm, what now?" Mikey thinks out loud. "I have two days until something happens, that's also when my special attribute will be revealed. Do I finish building my boat here? Or perhaps I could start a farm. I am running low on food afterall. And I still don't have a way to finish my sail yet anyway. I was thinking that I can make it out of wool, but first I am going to need a sheep to spawn.
Mikey crafted a stone hoe and started farming with the single wheat seed, carrot and potato he had. He got 26 bones, 15 arrows, 38 rotten flesh and a few damaged bows from fighting with zombies and skeletons last night. He combined all of the bows together, by combining them a new bow was formed, it wasn't stronger or anything, but it had the durability of all the bows combined.
"Now that I think about it, there were no spiders last night, I wasn't able to get any gunpowder from creepers, I had them explode on purpose because there were always some other monsters nearby. The creeper's explosion killed them aswell while I was able to block it with my shield." He says as he looks around the island, there are a bunch of holes in the ground, created by the explosions.
But that still doesn't answer why there wasn't a single spider, Mikey thinks to himself. Is there an explanation for it or was it just a rare coincidence?
Mikey then crafted his bones into bone meals. One bone can be turned into three bone meals.
Bone meal is an extremely effective fertilizer utilized in Minecraft and in real life too, the difference is, that it's MUCH more effective in Minecraft. Two bone meals can instantly grow any crop to a point that it can be harvested immediatly. With this knowledge in mind, Mikey started bone mealing all three sources of food over and over. In the end he ended up with 17 potatoes, 23 carrots, 26 wheats and 31 wheat seeds. He didn't use all of his bone meals, and planted everything right back in the ground.
In Minecraft, in order to get more carrots or potatoes you just have to plant them back in the ground and more of them will grow back, as long as they are nearby water, this is different for wheat and a few other plants. Whenever you harvest wheat it gives you wheat itself and some wheat seeds, wheat is used to craft bread and wheat seeds are planted back in the ground. Mikey already knew this of course, after planting all the food sources, and crafting all of his wheat into bread (3 wheats=1 bread), he started planting saplings all around the island.
Compared to the trees on Earth, trees grow MUCH faster in Minecraft, and their growth can also be sped up by bone meals. That's the reason why Mikey didn't use all of them on his crops.
After planting the saplings Mikey digs down until he reaches stone level, then he digs out a lot of stone. The entire island with the boat is lit up by torches, Mikey makes sure to lit up the underground area that he has dug out aswell.
"Two stacks of cobblestone, that should be good enough."
Mikey crafts all of his cobblestone into stone walls and places it around a big area on the island (not the entire island).
There is a special type of zombie in Minecraft, it's called Drowned. They always always spawn underwater, a normal zombie can also become a Drowned by simply drowning in the water. They never come out to the land whether it's night or day, UNLESS they saw you on the land, if that's the case they will chase you. However, for some reason I was attacked by not only normal zombies but drowned aswel the last night. Their appearance is different compared to the normal zombies so it was easy to tell. I can light up the entire island, and I already did that which means that no more monsters will spawn here, but the drowned will come out of the water. I can't do anything about that unfortunately.
There is essentially a rule in Minecraft which states that monsters cannot spawn in light, whether it's the sunlight, artificial light or light from torches. The problem is that I can't light up the underwater area for well... obvious reasons.
Thankfully there are no underwater skeletons or creepers so the next night is going to be just me against zombies.
By placing these stone walls around the area I will be able to reach the drowned and they won't be able to reach me, unless one of them has a trident... but if they do I will just figure something out.
Mikey finishes his stone wall, he doesn't close it up yet as he wants to move around the island, some of his crops have grown a little bit, they are inside the stone enclosure aswell. The reason for that is so that the drowned don't destroy them. They ignore crops, all monsters ignore crops, but if they walk over them they could destroy them.
Mikey gets on the boat and finishes the mast. Mast is the big pillar part of the boat which the sail is directly connected to.
After finishing the mast he is standing at the top of it, there are a few ways for him to get down but he decides to jump in the ocean. He takes of his armor, jumps and swims back to the island.
"Whew, that was refreshing, I also didn't see any drowned there which is a good sign. They can spawn throughout the day aswell because the light doesn't reach the bottom of the ocean."
(About an hour later)
Mikey spent most of the time by resting and waiting for his crops to grow. His health is regenerated to full ten hearts, but his muscles ache. One of his wheat seeds was ready to be harvested. Mikey harvested it and planted it back. Then suddenly out of nowhere...
"Baaaah. Beeeeeh."
A sheep spawned right behind him, he quickly took his wheat into his hand and the sheep started following him. Sheep and other animals will always follow you in Minecraft if you're holding a food that they eat. Mikey crafted a few wooden fences with a wooden gate using the last wood he still had. With the fences and gate he created a smaller wooden enclosure withing the stone wall enclosure in order to keep the sheep in there. He fed it the wheat which made the sheep satisfied, he then crafted shears with two iron ingots and easily sheared it which gave him wool that he needs for his sail.
Just how trees or crops grow much faster in this world, sheep will grow their wool back much faster aswell.
"Alright, this is starting to look good for me. Now I just have to wait and get more wool, after that I will be able to build a sail and start moving."
But just as everything grows faster in this world, time also goes by faster, Mikey was able to notice it throughout the first day, the sun is already almost above his head, which means that it's almost noon. He will have to start mentally preparing for the night.
