Chapter 75 - A fake servant

Chapter 75 - A fake servant

"WHAT?!"

"That's right, my event quest is to destroy the village called Heaven." Mikey says.

"Can't you just reject the quest? Sure you will get punished for it but maybe it's worth it." Lucy suggests.

"Well, my punishment is death..."

"I see... well, I am sure that there must be a reason that they want you to destroy the village right? Surely they wouldn't make you do it for no good reason, right?" Lucy tries to be positive.

"Yes, I hope so too. I mean, I really do. I don't want to kill anyone innocent..." Mikey says with a worried face and Lucy tries to make him feel better.

(After a few minutes)

"Well, let's gather some information now."

Lucy uses her attribute to find where Ignis is. She creates a screen that shows what is she seeing, this way, Mikey can see it too.

"Lord Ignis, what are we going to do?" Lucy and Mikey see Reinheim and Ignis talking.

Did Reinheim just address Ignis as 'my lord'?

"My lord? What kind of relationship do they have?" Mikey wonders.

"Reinheim I already said it before and I will say it again. Don't adress me as my lord! If someone overhears our conversation it would be troublesome!" Ignis shouts at Reinheim.

"How ironic." Lucy and Mikey laugh.

"Anyways, I need you to arrange a meeting with those two. I was able to mostly uncover what that young man was talking about through my truth indicator. He was lying about a few things. Well, he was partially lying about everything but I didn't want to intrigue any further. I want the king to be kept in the dark." Ignis tells Reinheim.

"Why is that?" Reinheim curiously asks.

"I think that the young man knows some kind of a secret that the king sinply shouldn't know about. Anyways, you know our plan. Go grab the food and bring it to them. Make sure to arrange a meeting between me and them." Ignis gives orders.

"Won't it be dangerous to talk to them directly?" Reinheim asks.

"No, I am sure that the young man, Mikey, plans on destroying the Heaven village. We share the same goal. I don't know he needs to destroy it, but we both know that this village stands in our way, the king doesn't realize it yet, but it would be pointless to even try to convince him, you know very well just how stubborn he is when it comes to Heaven." Ignis reveals his intentions to Mikey and Lucy without knowing.

"Wait, but didn't he say that he doesn't know who is going to destroy the village?" Reinheim asks again.

"Are you doubting my Truth Indicator?!" Ignis raises his hand at Reinheim.

"No, of course not! Anyways, I will get to what you told me to do!" Reinheim quickly gets to work out of fear.

As Reinheim leaves the room Ignis mumbles to himself. "That young woman lied too... about the two of them being married. But Princess Eula didn't react to it in any way... why was that?" Ignis starts getting suspicious of Eula. "Is Eula working with them? No, knowing her, she probably wouldn't even know if they're married or not, she just doesn't care about stuff like romance. Well, she is a royal elf so she gets to live even longer then us." Ignis sighs and stops his suspicions over Eula.

"What the hell is happening?" Lucy asks totally confused. "I am as puzzled as you are." Mikey simply replies. Neither of them understands Ignis's motives.

Lucy changes her perspective to Reinheim who is in the royal kitchen.

"Master Chef! Is the food ready?!" He shouts and asks.

"Shut it Reinheim! Do you not understand the essence of making good food?!" The Chef shouts back. "Well, you're just a servant so I guess I can excuse your foolishness. Listen, the best food needs to be prepared perfectly... not a single mistake can be made while preparing a delicious meal from the Nether cousine. So if you understand... GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE I KILL YOU!" The Chef litteraly throws a knife at Reinheim who barely dodges and gets scared. He quickly runs out of the kitchen.

"What's up with that chef?" Lucy and Mikey start laughing. "Can you change your perspective to the chef?" Mikey requests.

"Sure." Lucy changes her perspective again.

"Damn that Reinheim! He doesn't know what's good!" The chefmaster keeps cooking while still being mad at him.

"That food looks quite delicious. How do you think they got all of those ingredients?" Lucy asks Mikey.

"I don't know, well, both Reinheim and the Chef have now mentioned that they're from the Nether. I was expecting something more exotical but this looks quite delicious." Mikey replies.

Lucy switches her perspective to the king, who is speaking with Eula in the king's hall.

"Father, we should be establishing good relations with humans, this will only make us seem hostile!" Eula reasons.

"One simple reason Eula. You heard that young man.. I mean Mikey Hunt. The one who will destroy the village will be a human. That alone is a sinful act!" The king explains.

"Come on, if one human plans on doing something like that, it doesn't mean all of them are the same. You wouldn't kill all dwarves just because one of them stole some of your livestock would you?" Eula continues to reason.

"You are right about that. But you're comparing two things that shouldn't be compared..."

"The Heaven village is a lot more important than some livestock. Hell, it might be even more important than all of the livestock here in this entire city!"

"You always say that but never explain anything! Why do you care about the village so much?!"

The king suddenly calms down and simply replies: "You will understand when you become my successor. For now, you don't need to know. Listen, lead them to the village and let them do their thing. Ignis said that they're speaking the truth so they must be. However, don't forget to doubt the two of them aswell. Keep investigating them that's all I need you to do. I will deploy the Secret Police here to investigate every human staying in this city."

"I am telling you father! Mikey and Lucy are not suspicious and if there is actually a human who wants to destroy Heaven they will stop him and I will help them!" Eula leaves the king's hall and shuts the door loudly, visibly angry at the king.

Knock! Knock!

Lucy quickly turns off the screen and keeps watching through the King's perspective.

"Come in!" Mikey shouts.

"Hello, unfortunately Master Chef persisted that you guys eat in the king's dining hall." Reinheim says with a nervous smile. "I am really sorry but you will have to come with me. Also, mister Ignis will be joining you on the dinner."

"Ignis? You mean the king's servant?" Mikey asks acting surprised.

"Yes, that's him." Reinheim replies.

"What business does he have with us?" Lucy asks while still watching Eula's and the King's conversation with her other eye.

"He wants to talk about tommorow's expedition to Heaven, he will be actually tagging along with you because the king asked him to do so." Reinheim explains.

What?! He's coming with us?! Mikey and Lucy are both dissatisfied with this but keep their composure.

"Alright, we will come, just give us a minute. By the way... why did you address Ignis as mister, aren't the two of you equals?" Mikey suspiciously asks.

For a moment, Reinheim seems flustered but then he simply answers.

"You see, he is more of the king's right hand man, I am just a simple servant, he has also been serving the king longer than I have, which is why I respect him." Reinheim bows. "I will wait in the hall, I will lead you to where Ignis wants to meet, so feel free to leave the room whenever you are ready." Reinheim leaves.

"Mikey, we have a problem." Lucy says as she keeps watching the King giving orders to someone with her right eye.

"What's up?"

"The king is planning on sending a special unit of Elves to kill us on the expedition..."
