The night began for Mikey, and the entire forest was soon filled with zombies, creepers, skeletons and some of the monsters that Mikey had fought in the labyrinth aswell.
Mikey started hunting the monsters all around the area with his duskblade. The reason for that is, that he wants to awaken the blade and learn how to use it properly before fighting the monster which he needs to carry to the mountain's peak.
(1 hour later)
Mikey has been fighting relentlessly, only taking a few minutes to rest. He still hasn't unlocked any kind of ability with his sword or anything like that.
He's starting to get fristrated because of it.
"I could just take care of these guys with my hands easily but I need that sword to evolve, I believe it will be a great asset."
Mikey ends up fighting the entire night without awakening his sword at all. He does manage to get something else.
[You have received 120 Emerald Nuggets from all the monsters you've killed. You can transfer them into an S point]
"You can get Emerald Nuggets for killing monsters? Since when?" Mikey asks himself.
"Ah yes, Emerald Nuggets." The ghost appears out of nowhere. "You received them because you're in my domain, that's the only reason." The ghost says.
"But, why?" Mikey asks out of curiousity.
"That's the rules." The ghost says and dissapears, that's when Mikey notices a something glancing at him.
Mikey prepares for the worst and takes an offensive stance waiting for the monster to appear.
Soon enough, it reveals itself, standing in front of him. It stays still and starts staring at Mikey.
The monster standing before him is the weirdest creature Mikey has seen in his entire life so far. Chicken legs and body with a horse head. Several tentacles growing out of its body. That's right... It's the Ultimate Chicken Horse Kraken that's standing in front of Mikey.
Shit, this timing couldn't have been possibly worse. Mikey thinks to himself. I am way too exhausted for this right now...
That's probably what that monster thinks.
Mikey smiles.
The truth is, I've been hunting all of these monsters the entire night, but I wasn't actually going all out because I expected something like this would happen.
I mean, just think about it. The ghost said that not a single person has passed this challenge yet, even though they all claimed to be really strong.
Which means that this trial has a trap in it that manny have fallen for.
It's simple, they thought that they could get it over with quickly. Climb down the mountain, find the ultimate monster, kill it, climb back.
That's what I thought at first too, but no, that's naive. This forest is way too big. Your chances of actually tracking down this monster are almost zero percent, unless you have some kind of a tracking attribute like Lucy.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
That's why this challenge isn't about you hunting the monster, it's about the monster hunting YOU. I felt a strange gaze at me the entire night, it was definitely watching me from distance. I decided to play along and act like I am going all out, this way the monster would eventually reveal itself to attack me.
"I want to exchange my Emerald nuggets for an S point and put it into my Strenght stat."
Mikey looks at the Ultimate Chicken Horse Kraken and points his finger at it.
"Try me!" He shouts and the ultimate abomination attacks Mikey.
The UCHK (Ultimate Chicken Horse Kraken) uses one of its tentacles to smack Mikey. Mikey pulls out his Duskblade and slices the tentacle in half.
The UCHK makes an atrocious cry, it backs off and regenerates its tentacle back.
[Do you want to use the skill "Kraken Slayer"?]
"Yes"
Good thing that this works on this monster aswell. It's called the Ultimate Chicken Horse KRAKEN, but I still wasn't sure if I could use it on such a monster.
[Kraken Slayer is a special skill that doesn't require any energy/mana or power to use and can be only obtained if the user is cursed by a Kraken. The skill can help the user defeat the Kraken that cursed him, or any other Kraken.
The skill differs with almost every user, adjusting itself in such a way that it fits the fighting style of its user.
For this user: Whenever you attack a Kraken with unarmed attacks, while this skill is active, it applies Kraken Slaying "stacks."
Each stack increases the damage dealt to the Kraken monster by 100% (Only unarmed attacks)
The stacks reset if you didn't hit the Kraken monster in the last 10 seconds.
Any kind of attack counts as a stack, as long as the user puts atleast 50% of his strenght into the attack.
Maximum amount of stacks: 9
After reaching the maximum amount of stacks, a red mark will appear on the body of the Kraken which only the user can see. If they manage to hit the Kraken in that spot, their unarmed attack will do double damage and the stacks will reset]
Mikey thinks for a moment.
Hmm okay, this means that if I just touch the monster it won't apply a stack. I need to actually attack it. That won't be a problem I think.
UCHK is enraged and starts unleashing a barrage of attacks at Mikey with all of its tentacles.
[You have activated an ability of the "Adaptive Fighter"]
Mikey's eyes change, he dodges UCHKS's attacks while slapping it back from time to time. Because of this, the monster manages to land a few heavy hits on Mikey, but that doesn't matter to him. He abandomed his defense and went for all of those counterattacks so that he could stack up his Kraken Slayer.
The UCHK suddenly opens its mouth and shoots out a large laserbeam out of its horsehead. Mikey barely dodges it. The beam dissapears and leaves a trail of holes in all the trees behind Mikey. The trees fall over and demolish a part of the forest.
If I get hit by that, I'll literally die. Mikey thinks as he looks at the destruction of the laserbeam.
At that same moment his stacks reset aswell.
Damn, I need to go on the offensive. Get all nine stacks and hit that monster with my strongest attack into the red mark area.
The UCHK charges at Mikey again not giving him any more time to think. They start exchanging blows. Mikey gets hurt badly and starts bleeding from his head. His armor is torn apart by the sharp tentacles of the monster. The monster is also instantly regenerating from Mikey's blows.
This is however, a completely winning situation for Mikey... thanks to his stacks.
Once Mikey reaches nine stacks, a red mark appears on the UCHKS's head.
[Hit the red mark to deal 2000% damage instead of 1000%]
Mikey, without even thinking goes for its head. The monster's instinct kicks in and it tries to dodge Mikey.
It manages to do so almost perfectly, Mikey only scrapes its forehead lightly, this attack still, literally blows away the UCHKS's horse head.
For a moment, it seems that the fight is over, until the monster's head grows back.
Alright, I can win this, all I have to do is trade blows with the Chicken until my stacks are up, then manage to land a good hit on the red mark once it appears...
Mikey takes his fighting stance again, with three hearts out of ten left, his armor completely shredded, and almost no stamina left...
