With my right hand out the window, for no reason at all, I kept playing with my Energy barrier and blast spells trying to modify them into different spells.
After an hour of hard work, all I had was a new Perk, Mana Manipulation.
Not bad, but also not what I wanted. It seemed that Magical teaching was still required. Or maybe a tome of magic.
"I thought the Council of Wizards was long gone. " Emilia spoke after a while.
"A council. There are thousands of universes and dimensions around, each with their own brand of Magic. Plus, higher and lower dimensions, such as hell. With demons and such." I answered in a far away voice.
"What? Really?" Emilia asked in a disbelieving voice.
"Yeah, really. There are also Gods, demigods and synthetic intelligences, plus metahumans and aliens of all kinds. These butterflies are like, level 2 or such, on a scale going to 1000." I offered in a wise voice. It might be even worse than I knew, going from what I remembered from my comics readings.
Poor Emilia was way over her head, as was the entire D.E.O. and most superheroes. Maybe the Martian Hunter or J'onn_J'onzz was close enough in strength to matter, mostly for his mental powers. The rest, not so much.
"We're fucked then." the blonde agent muttered as we reached a motel. The rain had also stopped, or maybe we drove far enough to leave the cloud cover.
I smiled at her, then drew my hood over my head. "Ask for a phonebook as well." I continued without a change in my tone.
"Sure." she muttered in a weird voice, then entered the reception to get us a room.
'Cmon system, don't let me down. I need more clues beside a Cow.' I grumbled inward as I sneaked into the motel's courtyard and entered just behind Emilia.
Then I grabbed her phonebook and sat in an armchair, ignoring the tired agent as she fell on the bed.
"Boring...I thought you'd try something." she muttered in a low tone.
"Firstly, I don't know you. And secondly, you didn't invite me. But yes, you're very pretty, in shape and possibly quite attractive." I answered while flipping through the phonebook at speed.
*Ding.
Grove Farm address located. Proceed to destination and terminate the Cow.
Ah, so it did work, after all. I did have to supply a source for the information, not just extract data from thin air.
"...Possibly?" Emilia growled at me, while stretching her toned body in a enticing manner.
A honey trap, if my senses were any good. And they were. Spies were trained to use any advantage they could, and a young female body had many advantages.
So, instead of creating more problems, I took out the alien spaceship, and began working my magic on it.
Some miniaturized tech would be helpful. As always with tech, smaller was generally better. And since these butterflies were rather small, their tech was small too.
A few hours later, I began to decipher the first principles of these alien tech, mostly by cheating and inserting mana everywhere.
*Ding
Engineer Perk unlocked. You can now use any technological device that you know the purpose of. Int +1. Per +1.

Uh? That was also not what I wanted, but much better in some ways.
Since Emilia was sleeping soundly (probably), I closed my eyes and began exploring the system, just so I knew what to expect later.
Pef Wizard, Level 7. HP 80, MP 110, SP 9
Main profession: Gamer (+1 to all attributes, +10 all Skills)
Secondary profession: Wizard (+2 to Int, Will and Mag)
Tertiary profession: Detective (+2 to Per, +10 Awareness, + 10 Logic)
Strength: 8
Agility: 8
Endurance: 8
Intelligence: 11
Wisdom: 9
Willpower: 9
Magic: 11
Perception: 11
Charisma: 8
Free points:0
Hmmm. A lot more attributes than I expected, and way too many mental ones.
Also, no free points at level up. What the hell?
*The System will begin offering +1 free point at level 10, +2 free points at level 20, and so on.
Alright. Not ideal, but then again, I wouldn't desperately need points yet.
Opening the Perk menu next, I took a peek at what I achieved so far.
Perks:
*Gamer body. Your body now mostly follows the rules of a Gamer and is immune to aging effects. If your HP reach 0, you will die again. +1 to all attributes.
*Gamer mind. Your mind is fortified and will withstand most mental and psychological attacks. MP create a buffer against any mental attacks.
*Gamer soul. Your soul is fortified and will withstand moderate attacks. SP provide a buffer against any soul attacks.
Wizard. +2 to Int, Will and Mag.
Detective.+2 to Per, +10 Awareness, + 10 Logic.
Mana Manipulation. You can now manipulate mana easier.
Engineer. You can now use any technological device that you know the purpose of. Int+1. Per+1.
So, a base equal to my level, plus the gamer bonus. Then perks added more attributes. Good enough, for now. Perhaps I could change the professions for other bonuses? Not the Gamer, not to the wizard, maybe the detective.
Next, I opened the Skills tab.
Athletics: 10
Awareness: 23
Carouse: 10
Commerce: 10
Demolition: 12
Intimidation: 10
Logic: 23
Lore: 10
Medic: 10
Persuasion: 10
Tech use: 10
Weapons: 10
Free skill points: 35
Hmm. I would need to reach level 200 to fill all the Skills, if I kept receiving 5 Skills points per level.
*The System will begin offering +10 Skills points per level, at level 10.
Oh, good to know. Probably a landmark of sorts, or maybe I got to choose some kind of development path. It also fit with the attribute points starting to grow. I already got +9 attributes only from the Gamer perk, so I didn't complain much.
I should try to unlock more Perks in the meantime. Possibly something for my body, and maybe my personality?
What amazed me was how both attributes and skills followed the progression of my new life, boosting the things I used more. It seems the System proposed specialization as the way forward, or min-maxing as we called it in Gamer terms.
Become good at one or two things, and reach as far as you can, before shoring up the weaknesses.
This required a lot more thought and planning.
