Intruder

Getting bored of playing with a cat, I eventually summoned Fortuna in my arms instead.

"Wizard...is this your spaceship?" she asked after a second of disorientation.

"The cat is called Wildcat. I'm teaching him to hunt." I answered instead, and threw out a bullet at normal pistol speed.

Wildcat rushed to batter it to the floor, then tested if it was hot, before grabbing it and bringing it to my feet with a proud demeanor. "Good job, Wildcat! You can hug Fortuna now." I allowed him magnanimously.

In two rapid leaps, Wildcat wrapped his paws around Fortuna's neck, and nozzled her while the shaman blinked in confusion.

"I saw telepathy before, but rarely for animal taming. Although some Amazons used something similar for their horses. Maybe empathy." Fortuna said with a careless voice.

"Anyways, this city is called Argo City. Millions of Kryptonians live here." I pointed at the screen, the poured her some of my fine whiskey.

Wildcat jumped off the chase after my small water dragon, leaving Fortuna to lean on me like into an armchair and sip some booze.

"I see. This is the place where they make those Worldkillers. What's the plan?" she asked a bit more interested.

"Just waiting for now. The High Council will meet to discuss what to do with the intruders, meaning the prince of Daxam, plus Superman and Green Lantern." I pointed at a different screen.

"Hmmm. Sounds simple enough. Investigate a bit, find out who the criminals are...and then leave?" Fortuna mused in a doubtful voice.

"Come on, my love! Would I travel light-years from the comfort of my castle just to babysit a murder trial?" I quipped in a wry voice.

"Find some Kryptonian babes to bang, at least. It won't be long until even I won't be enough, for your insatiable lust and increased strength." Fortuna deduced a bit closer to the truth.

"See? All the wisdom from the ages, comes in handy sometimes. But there's more. Worldkillers need more than dark magic and Kryptonian blood to be made. They have a special black rock called Harun El here. It's what I used to make the latest Miracles, like the Bastion and Magic potions." I explained patiently.

Esrin perked up at once. "Oh! And a large amount of Harun El, I would wager. Enough to make many more Miracles, maybe stronger ones. And denial of assets for these Argo people, in case they would make more Worldkillers. You got really smart, my dear Wizard." she observed and became more interested in me suddenly.

*Affection +5. 60/100

Oh my! A radical change for someone like Fortuna. "Was it the power upgrade for yourself or my higher intellect?" I asked curious.

On the screen, J'onn produced evidence of the three Worldkillers and images of the Fortress of Sanctuary.

"Kal El, I promise you, we will investigate this affair and find out the guilty people." Alura Zor El said in a confident voice, but her fellow councilors weren't as supportive.

"Baseless accusations, for all we know! The Cult of Juru was abolished in ancient times, and Krypton is no more. Everyone here is a devout follower of Rao!" another councilor argued, and things began to heat up.

"This council believes they hold power? Really?" Fortuna asked a bit surprised.

"Well, compared to regular Earth tech, Argo City is far more advanced. A single Daxam ship wouldn't pose much threat either. As for personal power, their Kelex robots are quite dangerous. Even to you, Fortuna." I allowed in an understanding voice.

"How long would it take you to level this city?" Fortuna asked curious.

"How long? 0.1 seconds if I don't mind blowing the asteroid to small bits. Maybe 0.3 seconds to simply kill everyone and leave the buildings intact." I answered with a tiny shrug.

A Green Lantern could do it even faster, perhaps. All it took was summoning a moon-sized hammer and smashing the city with it. Or teleport everyone into the sun at once. Luckily, Lanterns were the opposite of smart.

Fortuna sighed and leaned into me again. "Divine levels already. And to think I was amazed when you created a locus in Star City."

I nodded and hugged her for comfort. "I do lack skill with my magic, my dear. What I want is this amazing city, landed on Venus. Then I can extract their black rock without killing everyone. The Kryptonians will also become minor gods, almost like Superman. Our sun increases their powers by 200 fold or so."

"On Venus? Right, they have terraforming tech. And to think they only live like civilized humans now. I don't even see spaceships around." Fortuna noticed with a sad grin.

"Hmmm. They lived some 40 years here, protected from invasions or news of the outside. The new Argosians must not even realize what they are missing. They even have diseases." I added with a disgusted tone, and focused another screen on a kid dragging an oxygen tank after him. .

Not long after the Earth delegation was kicked out of the High Council without any result, Alura and Thara met with them in a separate meeting, to try to help, unofficially.

"Do you have a lead that can help, Kal El?" Thara asked professionally.

"There was a woman called Selena. She guides the Cult on Earth from here. Called herself a High Priestess of Juru." Psi answered instead, just as bored as always.

"Selena?" Alura and Thara exclaimed in surprise, just as the building they were in began to collapse on itself. Quite a coincidence.

"Grey Wizard, is this enough or do we wait to get crushed a little?" Imra asked with a wry voice towards J'onn, who was wearing my headband.

It was a bit early but fuck it. I was getting bored too. 'I have three incoming priestesses towards the ship. Capture the rest for evidence.' I sent into her mind, just as three surprised Kryptonian death-worshipers magicked their way on board the ship, and froze when they saw me.

Fortuna jumped off my lap and went to poke at them, rather curious. "How do you hold them, telekinesis?" she asked in an interested voice.

"Nah. Fear. I'm showing them Lucifer in his real skin and might." I answered a bit amused.

"Haha. Clever. But you know he will sense this. Might even show up for a re-match." Fortuna warned me in a wary voice.

"It's all the same anyways, unless he takes his father's throne. I just don't see Lucifer returning to Heaven somehow. He drinks more than me." I quipped with a careless voice, and sensed a black wing flutter behind me for moment.

Then it vanished.

Talk of the Devil, and he appears! Proverbs were quite true, often enough.

But to make sure, I drew my Spear of Destiny and turned around. However, instead of a Fallen Archangel I found a magic book, floating in the air. The Book_of_Destiny rank X, my clairvoyance notified me instantly. I just stored the scary book into my inventory beside the spear, and returned to my normal mode.

*Ding.

You were given a quest by a Tier X entity.

Errr? System, be a bit more clear. There were too many Tier X entities around. Not only God and Goddess, but others even stronger. The Monitor and the Anti-Monitor for once.

I thought for a minute, and concluded this was most likely the Monitor. He did give the book to multiple people in the movies, just for fun.

Or as a test to create Elseworlds more likely.

I grit my teeth and took out the book, and asked it make a Lesser Radiance 8.9.

Then stored the book again, and just stared at the Miracle in my hand.

"Is that for me? It looks so powerful!" Fortuna exclaimed a bit later, since her perception wasn't even over 1000. I could have murdered everyone in this city twice before she noticed.

I smiled a bit confused. Although both the Spear and the Book were marked as Tier X and had Destiny as their domain, the book was even more powerful.

"I was thinking about this, Fortuna. A miracle like this one would raise you to near-divine levels too. Not just in magic, but everything else. So, will you wear this helmet for me?" I asked and took out my Dominator tech memory scanner.

Fortuna hesitated, for obvious reasons. She had too many dark secrets. Diana wasn't wary of her for no reason, after all.

I just placed the helmet on the nearest Kryptonian witch, and waited a few seconds. Then evaporated her with Dark Magic. 10 more attributes in all categories wasn't bad anyways.

*Gained +4 Lore, +2 Medic, +2 Tech Use + 2 Weapons.

*You have drained the lifeforce of a Kryptonian magic user. +20 to all attributes.

Even better.

I continued my quest, and extracted the memories and lifeforce of the remaining witches, including this Selena.

*Quest complete. Daughters of Juru defeated. +50 MAG.

I collected the carbon dust into my storage, then began mixing myself another drink, while Fortuna thought and paced around nervously.

"Things were not as civilized in the early days, Wizard. I did bad things to survive. Good things as well, but many bad things too." Fortuna muttered a bit indecisive.

"I am not a saint either, Esrin. Draining these witches granted me a full percent more strength. While I do a great deal of good, I always take care to match them with bad stuff. Thus my Grey title." I answered her, with a casual tone.

"... I'm so dead!" Fortuna grumbled and lowered her head towards me.

As if I would kill my best dark ally in this world. I knew from clairvoyance most of her story anyways. I just wanted her magic skills.

I left the helmet on her head for an entire minute, just to make sure I got all I needed. Fortuna just stared at me with empty eyes, having lost most of her memories. "Drink this" I urged her while the download hit me hard.

An immortal had plenty of knowledge in their head, not only dark pacts with spirits and demon names, but also history, commerce and lots and lots of magic lore.

She even knew some bits about the Flaming_Sword used to guard the Pearly Gates. Three Tier X components, that would combine into a weapon able to kill even a God or a Goddess.

Hints and clues gathered from demons and angels and ancient lore and sacred tablets.

When I opened my eyes later, Fortuna had began to regenerate her memories as well. She looked around the ship a bit confused, and caught Wildcat in her arms with a smile. "I used to have a cat once."

"Get some sleep in that room, for now. Your senses will be out of sync for hours." I pointed at the captain's ready room beside the bridge, using a soft whisper.

She went out like a log, still holding Wildcat in a deadly grip.

On the main screen, the Martian Hunter took the lead as to hunt down the rest of the death cultists, not that unpowered Kryptonians were any obstacle.

By the time Superman and Alora returned to the ship hours later, Fortuna woke up and petted the bobcat in her arms. "I still live." she observed as the two Kryptonians entered.

"You must be the Grey Wizard, which Kal El told me all about." Alora spoke in a dignified voice.

"I am. And you must be my alien mother-in-law. And a grandmother, soon." I offered with a wry grin.

"Can I punch his smug face? Only once?" Alora asked her nephew with an angry voice.

"You'd shatter your hand for nothing, auntie. Just ignore him. He's mostly harmless." Superman said in a careless tone and glared at me with a knowing look.

Sure! Mostly harmless. I sensed Fortuna cough and grin at me, without even turning. "Fortuna is a witch from Earth. Used to eat babies in the past, but now she's reformed. She cooks them first." I introduced my favorite shaman. Nobody believed me though.

Superman sighed and glanced at the screen showing the fake Mon El escorting cultists to prison. "At least nobody died."

I shrugged calmly. "We should get back soon. Another Worldkiller is being raised."

Alura sat down in a chair like she owned the place. "I'm coming as well. I want to see my daughter."

"I could use a maid, I guess. I expect you don't have any money or a place to stay, mother-in-law." I countered with an innocent voice.

"You!" my mother in law shouted in anger.

"Raaawr!" Wildcat roared and took off as Fortuna let it go by accident.

"Protect the wizard, Wildcat! Intruder on the ship!" I yelled in fake panic, making Fortuna giggle as the brave bobcat jumped to defend the fragile wizard.

"Raaawr!"
