Doomsday

New optional quest:

-Intercept and defeat Doomsday before his casket arrives on Earth.

My patrolling body glanced at Starfire who seemed oblivious. 'Hey, sexy. We have an incoming threat.' I warned Starfire in her mind, then patted her Nth-metal pauldron for encouragement.

The latest version of power armor was even capable of space-flight, not mention being coated in N-th Metal for incredible resilience and durability. It also had on board scanners and weapons, and a dumber version of a Kelex droid mind for auto-piloting and recovery in case of accidents and battle damage.

'Ypoc!'

'Ypoc!'

'Ypoc!'

I summoned 3 magical copies to cover a larger volume, and not long after they detected the casket carrying the immortal body of Doomsday, heading directly towards Earth. Because Earth was the junkyard of this universe, every bit of trash or dangerous tech finding its way towards the planet, by accident.

In a minute Starfire and I arrived on scene, just beyond the orbit of Jupiter. The casket held an intact Doomsday, still bound with chains, made of Eight Metal. Almost as durable as the Ninth Metal, known as N-th Metal.

Almost, but not quite.

I stored the casket and the chains, letting the mindless brute awaken in the cold depth of space, illuminated by a distant yellow star.

"Hoooowwwwl" the brute howled and punched the nearest Ypoc with formidable force. "Ridiculous!" the Ypoc muttered, as he couldn't stop the punch with a single hand, and had to use two hands for the block.

'Let me!' Starfire demanded and plunged into melee, kicking and punching the insensate beast, who took the beating like a champ, and simply regenerated all damage.

My Ypocs joined in, adding their own overpowered strikes, and slowly began to dismember the dangerous monster. Eyes, throat, and more organs. It was mostly flailing the beast alive.

Sadly, while the flesh was still weak, his bones were nigh-indestructible. Even after cleaning off the entire flesh, the skeleton was fine and beginning to regenerate again.

This is why I had a new version of the power-draining device invented by DeVoe installed in my left armbrace.

But of course, even if I was trying the save the world from a dangerous monster, the Green Lanterns weren't going to let me have an easy win.

A minute into power drain process, two Green Lanterns arrived on scene.

"What are you doing, Grey Wizard?" Guy_Gardner demanded in a clear voice, despite the void of space normally unable to conduct sound.

"I think he's fighting Doomsday." Hal Jordan answered for me, while Starfire hesitated then stood back, having been warned the Lanterns were a tier above her, in most aspects. Not intellect, but the ring provided everything else.

"My ring says he's draining Doomsday's powers. We cannot allow that to happen. The Grey Wizard is already a major danger to the safety of this Sector." Guy Gardner decided and immediately attacked me. ME!

Hal Jordan sighed audibly, then joined into the attack, against me as well.

I had two Ypocs turn and face the two intruders, while my third was still restraining the struggling skeleton.

Hal Jordan was the smarter of these two, so he summoned his Energy Twin to help him fight my Ypoc, while Guy Gardener got his ass-kicked back towards Mars by my magic clone.

*Ding.

-Minor adaptation gained. Weapons and powers used on the Gamer start to inflict reduced damage, proportional with the damage received.

"What do you want, Hal Jordan? Do you want Doomsday to land on Earth and kill a billion people?" I asked in a mild voice.

The Green Lantern stopped his gigantic drill, which was actually working at piercing through the Ypoc's resistance, especially as the Energy Twin was able to restrain and immobilize the Ypoc with its astral hands.

"I don't want that, Grey Wizard. But my colleague is correct. We cannot allow you to drain Doomsday powers. It is already dubious if four Lanterns can defeat you, if you go mad." Jordan explained in a gruff tone.

"Grey Wizard gives you magic potions and Miracles to make you stronger, and you dare to use your new power against him. While he is fighting an alien invader!" Starfire shouted in outrage, and began to power up in my defense.

Her hands gathered a pair of starbolts, which would damage even a Lantern. 'Hold that stance, Starfire. The threat of using a weapon is better than actually using it.' I told my sexy babe from outer space.

I just pointed a finger at Jordan, and continued to drain Doomsday. "It's not only the lives of the people of Earth, Jordan. Doomsday is an evolution weapon. It will adapt to anything, then escape and return ever stronger. Infinitely."

Hal Jordan held his ring out, and scanned the slightly weaker skeleton. "My ring...agrees.It says we should destroy Doomsday now." he spoke sad, and began to craft a giant positron cannon made of willpower.

"You're still missing the point, Green Lantern. That cannon will kill him, and then Doomsday will come back, already immune to it. Doomsday's powers will only add a few percents to my own, but then it won't return." I said in a voice just as sad.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Jordan clenched his hand and the cannon vanished into motes of green energy. "Damn it. I was hoping to shoot my cannon at something...." he admitted a bit embarrassed.

He waited at my side while the skeleton began to lose its luster, and simply made small talk. "Don't think your activities in the criminal world were not detected, Grey Wizard. Oa tech can scan the Earth even better than your magic powers can."

"Again, you're missing the point. The people I appoint to rule of the dark underworld are loyal to me. The Justice League seems happy to receive constant tips about terrorist plots, drug shipments and child slavery rings all over the world. But I guess you prefer people like the Joker or the Penguin in charge. Thousands of civilians dead, for their mad plans...right?" I countered with a disgusted voice.

The Green Lantern glanced towards Earth, where the Teen Titans were in big trouble fighting Kobra and Bane over a island filled with Venom drugs. At least all kids were bullet-proof now, which helped with their safety by a 1000 fold.

Most heroes still managed to die from bullets on this planet. Less than a hundred independent heroes accepted my Ypocs offer for a Fortify potion, and a hundred more for a Nomex suit. The other 800 will die in their duty like heroes, from easily blocked bullets.

"Santa_Prisca , you were the one who tipped the Justice League?" Jordan realized with a scowl.

"That Venom drug is already comparable to the Miracle 2.4 I made a few years ago. Further research and increased distribution will see Earth flooded with overpowered criminals. And thus more income for the villains to produce even better enhancing drugs, to sell to criminals so they can rob more people for cash, to buy more drugs. In 3 years, the entire Earth would fall into anarchy." I predicted with a shrug.

"I don't like you methods, Grey Wizard." Green Lantern muttered in a scowl.

"And yet, soon enough your Guardians will rescind the no killing rules, when they will be faced with their own destruction. Let me know if you find any human with cancer anymore, Green Lantern of Sector 2814." I uttered in a bored tone.

-New Fate point obtained.

-New option in Fate menu: extra life.

The Pef body in Appletown glanced through the windows of my castle, to find the red skies beginning to brighten again.

The aptly named Doomsday has ended.

And with my Adept Path gaining +1% to all resistances every 10 levels, I finally obtained 100% All Resist. Of course, if my enemy had something like my Spear of Destiny, then my resistances will be useless. Until I adapted.

The System has given me another immense boon, with the new perk. And the bonus attributes from the quest were not bad either.

Jordan had left while I stared at the lifeless bones of Doomsday with a silent gaze. Then I stored the bones for some heretical experiments. Perhaps minute shavings of the bones could help me create a better Miracle.

A minute later, Guy Gardner arrived as well, to find me and Starfire holding hands like a pair of lovers flying trough space on an exotic vacation.

His face was rather comically deformed from my Ypoc's punches. The Ypocs were still stronger than Superman, after all. "I won't forget this, Grey Wizard!" he shouted at me in pain.

I simply flew close to him, then grabbed his nose and turned it back in its proper position, followed by a Regen spell to fix his face. "If you ever intervene to aid an alien invader, I will replace your face with your ass, Gardner. Talking shit to a wizard is not a wise move." I warned Gardner instead, and meaning it too. I could also turn him into a pony, then transmute him into marble and have him stand petrified in park, for kids to ride him.

Stupid Lanterns! I swear they were all chosen for their lack of brains.

Guy Gardner held a hand to his mouth, perhaps worried he would say to wrong thing and have to shit though his mouth from today onward.

"Just go, Green Lantern. Surely, there are some villains you can catch and beat up with your fists." Starfire interjected with a wry tone, but still holding a starbolt in hand as a warning.

As the Green Lantern flew away at hyperspeed, I took a plunge into Jupiter itself, still holding Starfire's hand. I wondered how she would look with drops of Jupiter in her hair.
