I short stopped by L-corp, the company lead by Lena Luthor and gained me a lead-particle dispenser, meant to poison the Earth atmosphere with lead, which was more than toxic to Daxamites.
A rather idiotic plan, in my view. Why poison OUR planet, when we could poison the air inside their ships?
Lead wasn't a safe substance for humans either, producing a disease called saturnism , or lead poisoning. And not the 'bullets made of lead' kind of poison, although that also counted.
Next teleport brought me just below the Daxamite mothership. Rhea teleported down beside her general, and measured me with distaste. "You are only a human, are you the Champion of Earth or his second?"
I held out my arms and brought Wonder Woman in my arms by summon. "Wonder Woman will be my second. I will represent Earth as their Champion."
My drones were filming and transmitting the show, almost live. A 3 second delay would be enough, when things got violent.
*Ding.
Your Perk, Defender of Earth was recognized by most of humanity. When dealing with aliens, you also gain +100 to all Attributes and +20 to all Skills.
I smiled at the notification, while Diana took her bearings and stepped to the side, opposing the Daxamite general.
"Know that you are too late, Grey Wizard. My son, Mon-El has already married Lena Luthor, thus creating the first new couple of Earth and Daxam!" Rhea announced in a proud voice.
"A wise decision, I agree! The people of Daxam will be received as refugees after they surrender. You will be dead, Queen Rhea, but your people may yet live. Now, let's fight!" I countered in a peaceful voice, then brought out my twin chaingun and began shooting.
"Brroroooom" like a kryptonian eyes beam, twin streams of molten lead peppered the alien queen, pushing her back slowly. It wasn't the bullets themselves, but the lead inside them.
Rhea might be fast and durable, but she possibly expected me to punch her. Or use magic, not a chaingun.
Soon enough, a few bullets managed to touch her skin, and her skin began to crack and split, while she wailed in pain. "Now! Attack!" she demanded and teleported away.
I stored the gun, just as a fist of steel smashed me in the head. Superman. I did have my headband under the cowl, so I only lost 10% shields.
Diana fought the Daxamite general, while Superman ignored them, focused only on me.
"Please don't kill Kal-El! They must have him under control or something." Kara yelled in her ear com, just as Superman rushed me again.
But this time I was ready, and dodged his attack, and also triggered his blue ring. He stopped to fire his eye lasers at me, and I held a hand out. I timed it just right, as the beam fizzled out, just as I blocked the beam.
Superman was still mildly super, like 20 humans of so, but without the yellow sun's boost he wasn't my match, and his abilities didn't work anymore.
I caught his next punch easily, then knocked him out with a solid smash of my tonfa. "Just rest, Superman. I got this." I spoke gently, then placed a T-bracelet on his arm and teleported him to Kara.
As I turned around, Wonder Woman had bested the enemy general, while the Daxamite fleet was powering up for combat. A bright laser fired in the distance, striking Air Force One with a lethal blow.
"So, you have chosen death." I spoke my favorite Grey wizard quote and entered my Fighter limit.
Although President Olivia Marsdin would have survived the blast and even the fall to the ground, she was disintegrated by my Nth metal tonfa moving at lightspeed. See, the problem wasn't that she was an alien, even if shapeshifted as a human to fool the electorate. Nor her Democratic Party agenda. She simply wasn't born in the USA, but some distant planet. Thus, her election was unconstitutional.
Olivia will have a great funeral though. Few Presidents died by enemy action after all. She'll be remembered as a great hero.
In two seconds, I pasted every armed Daxamite, and spread out lead dust inside every invading ship.
Then I stopped beside Lena Luthor, and read her Observe file. It seems she wasn't exactly brotherly with Lex, nor her mother. But she wouldn't try to fight them either. Not yet.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"Mon-El, you have a chance to right the wrongs of your parents. Ask the survivors to surrender honorably, or I will kill every last one of your species." I spoke in a level voice, bristling with hidden violence.
Rhea was slumped on her queenly throne, slowly dying from lead poisoning. The civilian crew was chocking already, as the lead dust touched their skin. I guess Rhea was more durable, since she had been on Earth for a month or two.
"Grey Wizard! I don't..." he muttered in near panic, and also began to cough.
"Just speak to them, on that video feed of yours. I will rescue those who surrender." I urged him in a kind tone.
Lena Luthor glanced around, her high intellect already inferring what has happened. "Lead dust?" she asked to make sure.
"Lady El, congratulations on your marriage. Mon-El is a good guy, you're lucky to have him." I said in a mild voice, while I went to sit on the throne, and simply washed away the decaying corpse of Queen Rhea with a telekinetic wave.
"The marriage was under duress, Grey Wizard. Any judge will annul it, at the first hearing." Lena muttered a bit displeased.
"That's irrelevant. Your marriage legitimizes the refugee status of these Daxamites that survive. They also bring knowledge and technology from the stars. It was also the last wish of President Marsdin, before her heroic death." I added as an emotional point.
She hesitated for a minute, and looked at her unwilling husband. "Something to consider. Lead dust seems highly lethal to their species as well." Lena muttered while Mon-El spoke passionately about peace and a new land of hope.
The speech would have failed, most likely. But survival instincts took over, as more and more Daxamites began to crumble and die.
"I surrender!" a voice shouted on the feed, followed by dozens more.
"Teleport the new refugees at the DEO medic bay below, Mon-El. Lena you go too, your skills may be of use." I demanded in a light voice, simply pointing my finger at them.
As the last ship remained empty of crew and refugees, Mon-El turned toward me, then stared down at the ashes of his mother.
"You will take over the Daxam fleet?" he asked in a dejected voice.
"Indeed. All these ships are now my property. Earth needs a fleet for defense, and now I have it. You managed to save 57 of your race as well." I explained patiently.
"I couldn't stop my mother. And she killed my father as well." Mon-El complained and fell to his knees in pain and sorrow.
"Even so. Your people will need you to help them adjust to their new world. And Lena, your new wife needs your help too. Her Luthor family is just as bad as yours, maybe worse. Maybe you can keep her safe. Or maybe you'll get caught and dissected by her mother again. Cadmus has a thing for science." I said in a careless voice, yet hinting at possible danger in the future.
Mon-El looked around, then rose to his feet and bowed. "You could have killed us all, Grey Wizard. On behalf of Daxam, I thank you for your mercy."
"Give it a month or two, then gather some 20-30 people who you think are worthy. We'll train them and equip them to fight Cadmus, before you're all dissected or worse. They may be refugees, but they also can be Heroes." I added gently and waved him away.
With a nod, Mon-El teleported down at DEO as well, leaving me with a decent war fleet. A few tries and I managed to slave the empty ships to my command throne. Then we began to rise into high orbit, before some eager grunt fired their positron cannon at me.
Diana appeared in my arms, as I observed the Earth beneath me, getting smaller every second. "You defeated Superman easier than expected. Are you that strong, Wizard?" she asked in a wondering tone.
"Perhaps. My magic gives me an unfair advantage." I mused thoughtfully, mostly to myself.
"You didn't use any magic!" Diana yelled at me, then sighed and embraced me tight.
"Exactly. It would have been unfair." I answered with a wry voice.
I lost 5% more shield points, but it was worth it. Diana had a mean kick. Especially in her amazon dress.
"I saw your panties!" I exclaimed happily."Idiot. Now take them off. It's not the Moon, but close enough." Diana muttered in a fake anger. She was simply horny.
