Green Lantern

Much later, in the privacy of my Applebase, I took out the Green Lantern and simply stared at it.

The fun thing about my lucky find was not simply a Green Lantern, there were thousands of them in the universe. This was the Starheart , a sentient gathering of all magic from the universe gathered by the Guardians of Oa.

*Green Lantern Battery, contains the Starheart. Tier 1 sentient artifact. When bound to a user grants +2000 to All Attributes via a Power Ring and + 50 Lore Skill. Partial release via willpower grants up to +10000 to all attributes. Recharges automatically via the Starheart.

Ah, my friendly System was able to bypass the Oa code locks and bind it to me so easily? I called hacks! Too OP! Not even an oath?

But sure, let's bind it first.

-Due to the Gamer's WILL being over 5000, there are no detrimental effects. Due to the Gamer being immune to mind-control by Tier 1 entities, there are no detrimental effects. Due to the Gamer being immune to soul possession by Tier 1 entities, there are no detrimental effects.

A green power ring appeared on my hand, and I stored the battery in my storage. No need to leave it exposed, like other users did.

The Gamer has become a Green Lantern (unofficial). Gain +1 Fate point.

-Matter creation obtained, range 2 meters. Matter type must be in Oa library or in the Gamer's memory.

-Energy field creation obtained. Range scales with WILL. Color range scales with WILL. Field strength scales with WILL.

-Gain +2 Deflection per level. Current bonus +74.

-Gains Phasing, Pocket Dimension and Energy Twin as extra abilities.

-Portals can reach places you know about, at galactic range.

-Flight speed in inter-planetary vacuum set at 99% lightspeed. Inter-galactic speed scales with WILL.

Nice, I had another Fate point now, making it two.

I thought for a moment, and decided to use 1 point right now, for my WILL. It wouldn't do anything bad, and might provide me the edge I needed to control the powers of the Green Lantern.

Fate point used, +1000 WILL

-Soul perks increase one level. SP regen increases by +1% SP/Sec, MP regen increases by +1% MP/sec, HP regen increases by +1% HP/sec

-Your body, mind and soul are fortified. HP increase by 40 per 1 END, MP increase by 40 per 1 MAG , and SP increase by 40 per 1 WILL.

-Pain threshold reached. Extremely painful events can ignored or be absorbed by your Power Ring. Beyond painful and incredibly painful events are mitigated by your Soul Block as well, beside the Pain Perks.

*Fighter and Psionic paths can be merged into Adept Path. Costs 1 Fate point.

Ah, the System was showing me the good stuff now, since this merge quest didn't show up until now. It could be from the extra WILL, or the extra attributes from my ring.

And also, it was a hidden quest. Even if I wanted to boost my AGI next, as to possibly gain another Dodge boost or some cool feats, that could wait.

*Adept Path obtained. The Gamer has become an Adept.

-Gain +3 attributes in STR, AGI, END, WILL and PER per level, also retroactively.

-Gain +2 free attributes per level, also retroactively.

-Gain +3 free skill points per level, also retroactively.

-Gain +3 Deflection per level, also retroactively.

-Every 10 levels, gain +1% All resistance, +1% Dodge, +1% Parry, Current bonus 3%.

-Every 10 levels, gain +3% Hit Chance, +3% Crit Chance, +3% Pierce all resistance. Current bonus 9%

-Psionic powers evolve to the next tier.

-Clairvoyance extends to planet-wide range.

-Telepathy extends to planet-wide range.

-Teleportation extends to system-wide range.

-Matter reconstruction extends to 10 meters range and sub-atomic precision. Range and complexity can be increased by INT, WILL and MAG.

-New Limit Break obtained. Adeptus Astra. At your will, enter an absolutely invulnerable state and move at light-speed for 5 seconds. During your limit break, all attributes increase by +10000. Can be used once every 24 hours, or fractionally until 5 seconds are used in 24 hours. Continuation of the limit break past 5 seconds incurs -50000 SP/sec, -50000 MP/sec, -50000 HP/sec and pain beyond pain. The limit will be engaged automatically once HP reach 0.

This hidden quest was well-worth it. The psionic path was slightly disappointing at first, but now as an Adept it had become a true superpower, and likely at Tier 2 already. Only divinities had planetary-range powers from what I knew, and not even all of them. I was climbing the power ladder rapidly, and with a few more levels I would reach level 40 and a new Fate point.

And I still had my Great Radiance miracle that I was wary of ingesting before, due to the 'incredible pain' tag attached to it. Sure, it would give me almost 9000 attribute points and a few other perks, but still. Something beyond that pain beyond pain? Only the Lazarus pit had kept me alive the three times I tested it, and I wasn't willing to waste Radiance potions just to train my pain resistance.

But now I could train my pain resistance every 24 hours, while also doing stuff like crafting or dungeon murder, if I could withstand the pain enough to still function.

Plus I also had my Green_Lantern_Ring . The 2000 Attributes boost wasn't bad, but that could be increased to 10000 with a partial release and enough WILL. Add my Spear of Destiny and the Adeptus Limit Break, I could gain +30000 attributes for a short time.

I also had the Extremists and Kryptonian dungeons now, so I could grind some exp very fast.

And so I did, entering the Dungeon to butcher General Zod and the Worldkillers a few times, then Dreamslayer and the Brute several times more, while enduring the crazy pain of going over my limit.

Level up, Level 38 reached!

Exhausted and feeling my mind nearing its crack-limit, I fell on my back and consulted the ring. Only 4 seconds had passed in the limit pain, but it felt like days. I also moved at light-speed and my perception was increased too much, causing even more pain to my sensible nerves.

Unintended consequences, again. Extra attributes were nice, but not when they also increased my pain threshold by making me more sensitive.

I searched in the ring's database library for something to help, until I mixed myself a dozen serums to reduce PER by 50%. Which I could create out of nowhere using my new nice ring.

Which was a problem. I didn't want myself to be known as a Lantern.

More study and asking the ring revealed I could cloak the ring under invisibility and power masking, which should work against anything lower than Tier 1. But I also coated it in N'th metal and placed a blue kryptonite gem inside the crown, just to confuse people, if they did detect my ring.

I wasn't sure where Tier 1 powers began or ended, but it wasn't at 30000 Attributes. Possibly 100000 attributes, I mused for myself, with my rather genial brain.

While still a good deal away, it wasn't that far. I could obtain 92 Fate points with some effort, and become an Entity of Magic, for example. I did have the Starheart inside the Green Lantern as an obvious model.

As for the Adeptus Limit, it was just as painful as I imagined maybe even worse. And I still didn't gain another Pain Perk to mitigate the effects.

Sighing to myself, I opened the System screen to admire my stats.

The new stats and my HP regen at 3.3 % allowed me to maintain the Spear of Destiny all the time, or at least any time I wanted.

The MP regen at 27000/sec allowed me to cast spells at an incredible rate, and also 5 of them at the same time, due to my 5 minds perk.

The only thing that bothered me was how the Green Lantern powers worked, being mostly an external aid than really part of my powers. But then again, Lantern rings could be lost after all, unlike my potions, especially those that would stay after death or that couldn't be removed.
