Upon having enough rest, William gets to his feet, stretching. “Since I have different ways to summon my Emblen and System, which should I choose?” William asks Roman, who is close to him for the past 20 minutes. He sits about 6 feet from him.
“You will probably fail to completely differentiate the previous gestures. The System and the Emblem alike are different from each other, and doing something more with that isn't great, or needed. It's still early for you to worry about wordless summoning, but since your wordy solution works, you can start working with it for now. You just got yourself another issue to work with so summoning your Emblem when needed by your words is your task for now. Having it separate from your System is a great way to make subconscious differences. That is the benefit of having it this way, which is already very good to have before the Trial of the Academy.”
“Great... Another obstacle before me.” William sights. “Is there some way to make it more separate than that? Having two ways to awaken the Emblem seems like a bad idea.” William says, indicating his problem of having his fist for his System which also summons his emblem. His word of choice summons his emblem alone outside of the interferences of the System.
“It could be the same as your previous method, but that was rather... peculiar. I wouldn't recommend you try solving this for now. The System isn't something that we use outside of confirming something and Skills. For now, your Emblem is enough for your worries. After all, the way most Walkers do their comprehension is through the whole body experience, while only a portion of them focus their attention on the System as a whole. It's rather subjective, so it may not work for you. That's where you should work with your own intentions without caring for my suggestions that may not work for you.”
“So that's the reason why I heard Mi-Yung told me so little before... It seems it's a much more complicated process than I thought.” William wonders, but doesn't voice his opinion out loud.
“The Emblem alone is better activated when undergoing anything outside of the System.”
“Oh? Really? How and why?”
“Various reasons. Fights, comfort, Mindless Eyes, and so on. Go on to the System again. I will explain this throughout the days we have. It's hard to put into the words since the various reasons Walkers have is rather complicated.” Roman explains.
William shuts any of his wandering questions. He rather motions to the method of seeking the System, which is summoned the same way as before. That is his motion of fist, following the call of his Mindful Eyes. It works in a rather peculiar way. It's like a button for an elevator, which moves after putting forth the decision to go up. William thinks of it in the same way, which is a fist that will act with Emblem, and the System follows with it too.
Following this, William's Emblem explodes much more wildly than ever before. It also surprises Roman by how much, which in turn, causes him to fly a dozen or so feet away. The proximity of almost 10 feet around William's is a storm of wild Vectors.
“W-what is that?! How come it's so wild?” William cries out, unable to comprehend the reason for this at all. He watches as his right hand is full of the deep crimson Vectors, that are twisting themselves, straining his whole right hand as if it's clutched by anacondas.
“Hoh... That surprised me a bit...” Roman sighs, returning to his previous calmness. “This. This is the reason why I am here. I didn't anticipate this so early, but whatever. It seems some things moved differently considering the last strange encounter with your System and the Emblem. It seems your Emblem is a bit special in its activations. See? It's straight toward the claw appearance even with the full chaotic Element. The majority is more subsided while appearing more gradually. Yours go straight for the kill, which isn't wrong but could be dangerous for your surroundings. We don't want needless destruction unless it goes straight against the Dark beings, of course.” Roman explains the reasons he knows well while hiding his surprise back.
That claw... it wanted to grab him this time, and it wasn't William's will. He subconsciously dodged it by backing away quite a bit of distance.
“I've got it... But how do I calm this thing down?!” William panics a bit, as the hand, and the Vectors are bathed in chaos.
Now, it even destroys the surroundings around William. Even his clothes are turning to ash in some portions, which he has to discard, so he won't end up without them. They are gifts, so he wouldn't dare to ruin them. Tossing them away, he stands there in his underwear. William is a bit embarrassed but does not pay it much attention as Roman does too.
The shirt ended up the worst since he had to fold it through the claw on his right hand. The good news is it isn't that forceful in its destruction, since the time needed to turn something to dust is a few seconds, to almost 5. This leaves William and Roman in wonder since the properties are changing in some form of rules or power fluctuation.
“You... Your emblem's Element can change its power? How peculiar. This could be very nice. Is there something in your System about it? Element affinity or anything that has to do something with your Element?”
“Tsch... Jeez... This freaking hand. I see the screen alright! It never told me anything about this Annihilation Element before. Mi-Yung probably thought it was because I need to open and understood my Emblem types before thinking of something else.”
“Types?” Roman says, intrigued by his choice of words.
“Hmph! It's Vectors and Mutant, alright? William confesses his secret that feels should be told right now. It's not a time for secrets. “They are beside each other on my System's sheet,” William explains while struggling more than ever with steadying himself amidst the abrupt power and pressure. It goes around, destroying the concrete grounds that are who knows how thick.
“What?” Roman shouts. “And you are telling me that now?!”
“Yes.” William bluntly answers.
“I swear...” He sights and shakes his head in disappointment. “It's Mi-Yung idea isn't it?” Roman understands the little he knows, and in fact, he is absolutely right in his guess. “You have two bloody types?” Roman asks again to be sure for the sake of his own safety in his mind.
“I do. It doesn't feel like it, though. I have no idea how, or what's the deal with this... at all.”
“No shit it's the case. Nothing much is known by the motions of the two types. There were some occasions of them or those with the two Elements, but even that... is a stretch. You even have your Annihilation Element. What's up with that?” Roman says in quiet agitation.
“Are you asking yourself or me? I have no clue whatsoever.”
Hearing his pressuring answers, Roman sights in helplessness and takes a deep breath instead. It's not time for argument, since William isn't in a state for that. “I am sorry for this,” he utters in a single moment, and a change follows his last words.
The air freezes and the motions of everything stop.
Like the gaze of the god, Roman's entire body changes to a hazy darkness, which ate the light, and makes everything dimly dark.
Two big hands of dark shadows appear from his back, and it isn't over with everything.
Roman's face is no longer visible, as dark shadows envelop his face. His 4 hands both engulf the shadows, making them appear inhumanly strong and long. Though, his face makes him the most mysterious and strange. There are 2 dots indicating the eyes or something of that sort.
His mysterious change of appearance shocks William, who only watches as his new appearance walks toward him. It almost doesn't resemble the human figure at all. Walking toward the unsure William, Roman stands there before his shocked and frozen expression. He is fearful and even forgets the issue of his Emblem that is losing any sense of control whatsoever. It all stems from the terrifying pressure that Roman emits in this form.
William for once understand, that Roman activates his Emblem's powers but what sort of appearance is that? What power does he have? It's unlike Mi-Yung's and Luke's which are the only examples he could think of.
Through the pressuring appearance, Roman ends up a step away from William, who appears looking at him in question. As for his own issue, he doesn't even notice the change in his Vectors. They appear calmer, as if afraid of what is upon them. A step away from him, Roman motions his single, dozens or so feet long hand forward. The surrounding 10 feet perimeter is long free of the chaotic Vectors. Instead, they move away from Roman, flowing back to William's proximity. With a flick of his finger, he motions a breeze of shadows, enveloping William in a single second, before disappearing.
Like a motion of slapping a mosquito, William's wild Vectors are blown to pieces, scattering into tiny particles, but charging back to William's hand soon afterward.
William, too, ends up shaken, and the powerful blow ends him on the floor.
“Calmed down at last?” Roman's voice says from the shadowy figure, sounding hoarse and deep. One wouldn't be able to recognize him from his normal voice.
William has trouble speaking from this shock, but he nods at least. This leads to nothing but a calm, shadowy figure, who recedes into the previous figure of Roman. The shadows disappear to his back, and his shoulder, hidden behind his clothes. It made him appear quite savage and taller, unlike his real appearance.
Crouching down, Roman watches motionless William, who is unable to move a muscle.
“It's almost impossible to calm the wild Annihilation Element when it's out of control. They would go wild until the host would die. It's that simple. You should be glad I am here to provide you with the option to never undergo what you did. Are we understanding each other?”
William nods after forcing his muscles to move.
“No more secrets?”
William doesn't nod.
“Alright. Some secrets are fine as they are, but this is surely something that you don't want to experience ever again. Do you?” Roman says, indicating quite a problem for William's current circumstances.
He has no option but nods.
“Good. Good. I swear I will ask some good questions when I will see Mi-Yug again.”
“It... isn't her fault...” William mutters, finding his voice back at last.
“Yea? And whose fault it is? Yours? Your's father? Mother? I wonder that myself.” Roman chuckles, helping William to a seated position.
“What even happened?” he asks as his head hurt like hell, and his whole body aches much more than before. {as if it's possible}
Yet, he could still see the System before his face, but his Emblem is struggling to flow the chaotic Emblem around his right forearm.
“I was a bit forceful. Since I am Rank 7, there is nothing that a tiny vermin like you can do to me.” Roman says, chuckling in a strange manner.
“That... is true, I guess. Thank you for that, even though I feel like going to the hospital instead.”
“That's not a big deal. Tomorrow will be a better day, I bet. In fact, the 8 more days like this will follow until I am sure no accidents like this will even happen.”
“That's great...” William sights, looking at his right hand, he feels like shit.
“I agree with your previous words. Mi-Yung is right at her suggestion of figuring out your Types before anything else. That doesn't mean much for the Mutant, but your Vector type must be understood. Roman says, appearing calm after his initial outburst at William's reveal. It also appears that the 2 types aren't something shocking to him, which, in turn, surprises William.
“Why?”
“Why? The reason is simple.“ Roman says. “The Annihilation Element within your Vectors seems crazy enough. Figuring more about Types is a high priority since it can lead to more answers than anything else. It's also great way to stabilize the Vectors in your body and System interferences and roughness will move away. This way, your Emblem's most important stat sheet will be finalized before going to the combat training. That, and your Element.. which could be part of the Mutant type? No... I don't believe that. Elements are parts of the Vectors, while very few exceptions were discovered with Mutant types.” Roman says, leading his words to his own question that he isn't sure about either.
“But... I heard many explanations about the three types. Vector, Elemental, and Mutant. How come... this Element isn't... right?” William asks without certain words that he couldn't find.
“You are wrong in your assessment, nor do the researchers know everything about it. Those types are the System's words. They may as well be just a placeholder for something else, but it stays the same. The Vectors are quite the average type out of the three, with no distinct strangeness. They could even have a small hint of Elemental type, which they call a partial Element. That way, it's not correct to assume them to be a lonely Elemental type. Those are holy.. if I am blunt with my choice of words. When a Walker has the Elemental Type alone, they have no Vectors, but their Arcanite has a full affinity for the choice of the Element. Are you following so far?”
“This... this makes sense.” William nods. “How come I never read about this, nor did someone tell me about it?”
“Mi-Yung did, didn't she?”
“I... don't know. I thought it was the case... but it's different. I guess that's my bad for thinking about it in the wrong way.” William shakes his head, figuring his previous knowledge was indeed lacking.
“It's not a wrong way to think about it, William. It's a bit complicated, but figuring the Vectors is the same as figuring the Arcanite, and Emblem itself. It is... quite frankly, a complicated process since many variables can lead to countless complications.”
“I can see that.” William couldn't help but agree, still watching his right hand from time to time. “What have you done to me? My chaotic Vectors disappeared by your influence?”
“Heheheh.” Roman chuckles. “I extinguished you Vectors into the state of instability. An external factor, you know? It is the only choice one could make in this regard. Your Vectors are imbued with the Annihilation Element that went completely out of control. Simple as that.”
“I see... So, if there would be someone who would have the Elemental type, while it would be Annihilation Element, what it would be like?” William asks one question that has been on his mind for some time.
“Good question, considering the circumstances. It would be disastrous, but the whole System and the Emblem would provide some answers and Skills. It would be... extremely powerful Emblem, but who knows what that would be like?”
“Since you said it like that, I guess there has never been someone like that?”
“Right.” Roman rightfully nods. “At least I never heard of some Walker having full Elemental control over the Annihilation Element. And that comes from me, someone who is watchful over every Annihilation Element out there.”
William nods to himself in understanding, while understanding a bit more about his situation once again. Since he couldn't provide his own wondering answers, it feels great having someone who knows their stuff.
That's right. Roman here is quite similar to William. That is, his Emblem has a basic affinity of Vectors, which have a sliver of Annihilation Element within. It's not enough to call it a full-blown Element type, since it's some basic principle and mystery of the Emblems. Some scientists even believe that going from one type and not, is a path to greatness.
Tom Hough even has a very particular opinion. One that is unfounded by anyone, but it has some popularity among scientists. It's about affinity and how the Emblems are set from the very beginning. He also thinks there are some possibilities of changing them midway through. His reasoning, or guess, is the following research of many decades. It's about the Vectors with partial Elements. Having the partial Element is an intriguing concept in itself. He believes it is the reason some Walkers have the Elemental Type in full effect without anything else.
Meaning, the Vectors with partial Element can become Walkers of the Element alone. Though this sort of reasoning has some sense, the actual work is anything but theoretical.
In practice, the Walkers are kind of unchanging, thanks to the System that appears to be their decision-maker.
