There are no feet, or fingers on its limbs. Just stubs, with layering lines of matter in dark crimson colorful ripples. No eyes, no expression, or mouth could say something about its emotions.
Yet, it is alive, and moving its limbs fine. The creature walks forth while stumbling by the clothes it crawls from. Getting up, it walks into one place which is extremely interesting to it. A tall, majestic view that is within the window.
Since it is small, it has some trouble getting up towards the frame of the window, to enjoy the view. It also seems it looks around in confusion as if it wonders about this new place or room.
Unfortunately for it, it is too small to get towards the window, so it temporally flew there. Like a breath of crimson breath, with lines that follow the ride up, into its former appearance.
There, it looks around. With no eyes, but a clear body language of someone mesmerized by the sight in front of it. Particularly the sky, with an endless flow of stars, that goes went up, back, towards the horizon.
Then, it glances down. Where buildings of all sorts are standing there, bothering no one. But there is still something interesting for the little creature. The sight of the small sun intrigues it the same way as the stars above.
The creature seeks out the brightness and it's infinity far away. It puts its arms towards the window as if it wants to grab the light of the many lamps in the places beyond the window's scenery.
William was equally intoxicated by this sight where he came here the first time, yet he had no need to do so for two days in a row. As he thought, even the sight of the extraordinary would soon become ordinary.
It is a regular thing and an absolute pattern of the human psyche. Same with the wealth, where one had none, and suddenly has some. What could happen? One could be happy, get accustomed to it, or fall into a hole of greed. That could also be a possibility.
Not like either were bad or good since all people are different.
Yet, this being is not human. Who knows if it has thoughts or feelings? Not even William is aware of its presence, since he sleeps after a long, mentally draining day.
Hours pass and disappear into obscurity, where no one would think of them. For many, it is a night when they would regain their strength for the next day. Such ways are the same, even now, as they were in the past. Humanity would keep going, even though the last century was not pleasant for them.
The small creature still stands there, occasionally crouches down, and walks back and forth on the parapet. One thing remains the same, no matter its core conflicts. Its head, which is the same color and matter, is still fixed to the window.
Seeking the sight beyond, until the wrapping rays of light appear beyond the horizon. It looks, with flaring hands rising to the air. As if it wants to bathe in its glory and praise the sun.
It keeps going until its gaze on the sun stops. The creature in content disappears into a pile of dust, matter, particles, or who-knows-what it could even be called.
All that remains is a gem-like object, with a crimson color, which is instead bathing in rays of the sun this time around. A new day arrived, and the bustling of the city intensifies, like every morning.
Unlike most, this is not the worry of William, who has no need to wake up early. Not like he doesn't want to. No... He dislikes the morning.
But, as all things have their ways, William wakes up with the continuous attack of the sun, which would not leave him alone.
“Ahhh... There we go... I should ask for the damn curtains against this evil sun of a...” William stops there, as he looks at the clock on the ceiling. It is past 8 AM, so no matter what, there is no excuse to not get up.
“I slept like a baby today. Nice.” cheering himself up. He slept completely naked this time around after a very long time. It is a quite different environment, in the middle of the tropical ocean. It feels kind of refreshing to him.
William still doesn't know where he even was, since the general common knowledge of the Federation is not known to the multiple camps. Just the truth, that it exists, and it is somewhere in the ocean.
Sitting up in the bed, William thrashes with his black hair and scratched his temples while doing so. In a moment, he notices something missing in his forearm that faces the bones of his arm's palm.
“Again? It is 2 days ago when you disappeared last time. Huh...” William sighs and looks around himself to find his Emblem. This is something that he doesn't understand, but it occasionally happens to him. Although, not too often. Not within 2 days from each other.
Not finding it in the bed, he glances around and finds it in the glossy sunlight of the window. Its beauty is there to catch his eyes in a bath of the sun.
“I don't remember going by the window, but whatever...” Willian, unbothered by this mystery, jumps from the bed and grabs the Emblem.
Turning it upside down, he notices the same structure of the gem's body that is all the same around.
Gritting his teeth, he pushes it back into his arm.
“Ouh... I swear... I will find something about this in the Library today...” William promises to himself by the expectation of the 6th floor.
This little episode of lacking Emblem happens since he lost his parents, where he was stranded by himself, with no one around apart from a crying boy named Dann. This always reminds him of that day, when the home of his, and his parents, was destroyed by a few hordes of incredible numbers of Dark beings. Though, he learned about it later where he grew up.
He always wondered what is wrong with his Emblem, but no one bothered to answer or care about the questions of a kid. He never asked anyone about it since he was 8 years old. Not like there would be scientists in the camps who would be interested in the strange happenings of the Emblems. Scientifically put, Emblems are as alien as Dark beings.
Not like it bothers him too much, but he fears that one day, he will lose it forever.
That would be both a tragic and hilarious aspect of a Walker, who lost an Emblem.
It almost sounds like a parody.
Standing still, he greets the city view from the window with his open, naked body. Unfortunately, he took too long, and the door to his room opens up.
Luke sweeps the room with his gaze and notices the naked cheeks of William.
Coughing in slight embarrassment, he places a key on the empty shelf. He says no words before disappearing with his military uniform. William glances behind him, as Luke disappears. He notices the key on the shelf.
“Uhuh... Maybe I should take my clothes first. Who knows if someone is watching from the other side of the district?” William laughs at himself and put his new set of clothes on him.
He also does not ignore the wooden box. With new shoes, everything is up to his size, even when the owner of the shop did not ask him for them. William wonders about it but does not question it, since that old man knows his craft very well.
Knitting each shoe, he firmly and tightly jumps and runs around the room to try them out.
New clothes, new person, but the same insides. William is happy that he even got a brand new set. He would be equally happy even with the second-hand stuff, which is very popular and used in every camp to his knowledge.
“Luke probably went to his work... At least he left me the key, so no worries about waiting outside. Credits are also fine, but I should be sporadic about them. I don't think I will get more.” William guesses as he is ready for a new day.
Suddenly, a strange sound creaks the space.
It is his stomach, which remained empty, even after the last night.
“Right. Right... Food, let's check the fridge.” William decides and strikes the fridge in the kitchen without hesitation. There is still the last box, like the day he arrived. It has the same message as well.
“Oh, someone is taking good care of me. Nice!” William cheers the small box itself and went ham on it without delay. Not even warming the food with the stove, comes to his mind, as he finishes the box in a matter of few minutes.
“Rice is truly blessed food. I can't understand it enough.” Willem leans on a chair in a dining area. Satisfied, and respectful of the food, as always.
“I can only imagine what would kids in the orphanage think about food like this. Although we have occasional rice, the meat of this quality is almost nonexistent Outside. Meat, what I remember, is tougher and chewier, but the taste is not bad. This tastes... kind of fresh, with well-done rice that is not made in batches for dozens of people. The meat itself... I don't dare to think too much about this. Not even the sauce, which tastes like something sweet. Is it the sugar?” William wonders with an open mind.
Like a food enthusiast, who he in truth isn't. He always ate what he got, while being glad for the care of madame Anderson and few other people like her in his youth.
This meal will fuel him for a long time, so all he could do now is to spend the second day at the wonders of the library in the presence of Ellie.
“Current plan is simple, so let's keep on going.”
Getting up, he, of course, does not leave out the bamboo bottle to quench his thirst. He has seen some people in the library have some of those bottles, but it did not pique his interest when he was constantly taken care of by Ellie, who more often than not, did not shut up with her constant lectures and lessons.
William hopes for the same, since he doesn't her mindful attitude. He comes to this conclusion after some deliberation this morning, and some time of thinking as he waited for Luke before his apartment yesterday.
Ellie's help will be very helpful since it has already been proven. She provided him with quick answers and information which could be accessed in the library. Unfortunately, getting to find them is a completely different thing than trying to find them by himself.
With Ellie, she was like a walking encyclopedia of life in the Federation, and knowledge of the Library. One would expect at least this since she works here and went through many years of learning programs in the Federation.
William is hopeful that she would be able to beg her to accompany him for longer than a few days. Although, he is hesitant, and doubtful because of that stern-looking Burton who seems like a prick he probably is.
Getting everything, William does not forget a few more credits, library card, bottle, and that is about it. He has nothing else of importance.
“Oh, right... A key!” William stops himself as he almost opens the door. It hit him soon enough, otherwise, he would be locked again. He takes the key from his room and walks forth from the apartment towards the reaches of the Grand Library of the Federation.
