“Alright.” Roman pats William's shoulder “5 minutes still counts. This will end after you will feel like you can't continue. Or... Do you want to end it here?” he asks without concern. The previous rules he set for these practices still stand.
“5 minutes it is...” William mumbles as he forces his body to the seated position.
“Do you have some bandages? I don't think this blood is great in my eye.” William complains and puts his left hand over the side of his head. He has a small gushing wound around the temple, and the forehead.
“I don't but maybe that guy has? Let me ask. I know the pain of blood isn't great.” Roman walks towards Samuel, for the sake of continuing the practice without a problem.
Blood in the eye can be annoying, but the wound will close in the following 5 minutes, so he doesn't worry too much about William's wound.
“Vice-Director Samuel, do you have some bandages or something? It seems the wound on his head isn't so nice for the current him.” Roman explains his reason, which sounds reasonable, but his way of telling it isn't.
“It will heal though, why are you asking me?”
“Do you have something?”
“I do.”
“Then fetch it to William, or do whatever you want to,” Roman says,
“Huh... Alright.” Samuel closes his notebook and takes his suitcase with him without any need for the weak persuasion of what is Roman trying to accomplish.
Walking before William, he opens the suitcase in a way that William can't see what's inside. He takes a handkerchief out of there and wipes the blood away to check his head. Wiliam doesn't resist, as Samuel cleans his wound, which appears better already, even without his help.
“The Inner Enchantment is rather weak in your case. The further it is from the Emblem, the worse it performs. The Head isn't the furthest, but be careful about the left side of your head and body in general. Further in the rank, you can defend better with this Skill, but carefulness of the injuries is substantially important when a Walker is Outside on the mission.” Samuel says as he finishes the cleanup and that is about it.
William silently nods, but before hearing any other words, Samuel closes his suitcase and gets up.
“Is the wound fine?” William asks, just to be sure.
“This scratch?” Samuel points to his forehead in a dismissive manner. “Walker's bodies are built differently from the moment of the Awakening, so you better learn some things about your body, health, and status. It's quite important to know the abilities of your body, young man,” he tells as he turns around, without further ado.
This leaves William doubtful, so he checks the left side of the head, which doesn't have the blood gushing from some scratch. He knows that any head wound can be quite bloody, but it seems it's already closed.
“What a relief that is. I will have to go with the 3rd round, or return with the 2nd? Roman didn't explain to me how it's supposed to go.”
As William thinks of is not continuing, there goes Roman, activating his Emblem once again to start the show. “You have still 1 minute and 11 seconds remaining. That's how it will go, until the end of your cycles, or when I feel you had enough.”
“Crap...”
William curses out loud, feeling like he finally understood, how difficult this can be. To his lack of knowledge, this morning was just the beginning of what is yet to come. He has the whole day before them.
William will become dead tired, according to his System, and it won't be surprising him at all. It won't be the case for the first time, nor the last time for sure.
With the flow of blood, sweat, exhaustion, and trying to stay standing, William doesn't accomplish much, apart from following his limit.
He is yet to voice his willingness to give up. Even when the 6th round ends in him, losing his connection in the lower swipe of Roman's legs, towards his thighs, and the following knee to his chest. No matter how he protects himself with his hand, the power behind Roman's attacks always pushes him around. He always ends up coughing blood or feeling out of the breath. Those are usually the aftermath of that, but managing almost 6 rounds had been quite an accomplishment in his opinion.
That, or its accomplishment of his own stubbornness.
“Come on, William. That's still 3 minutes and 20 seconds to go towards your 6th round.”
“Yea. Yea.. give me 10 seconds to catch the glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel.” William mumbles on, hearing Roman's voice from his position on the ground.
Crouching down amid the exhaustion, and instability of his Vectors, he stands up even after going through more than an hour of this mess.
“Come on... Connect...” William clutches his arm, in a try to follow up with the remaining of this round.
It takes a couple more seconds, but William feels there are incoming limits to his little tries. If he can call it like that, that is.
“Huh... Here we go! I can keep going.” William gets to his feet, shouting in a try to appear fine and ready. It no longer works on Roman, who knows how exhausted William has to be, yet that is precisely what that man not so far from him wanted.
In truth, Roman already planned to end this charade in the 5th round, or lower, but that didn't happen. It even seems it doesn't seem to be the case even on the 6th.
Still, within his shadowy appearance, he walks towards William. It is the same old slow fist attacks that are a couple of seconds from each other.
William's defense is much better against them by now, but his exhaustion doesn't help much to go toe to toe against it. His Right hand is already screening in pain, and he is barely able to continue with his efforts.
At least, he no longer stumbles and flies away with bad stances. Instead, he gradually begins to understand how the flow of Roman's attacks works. He is forcing the intangible pressuring attack with each swing of his body, and also some form of pushing force that makes his defense quite obsolete. The force is considerable, so William learned it is better to deflect this sort of attack. Though, that happened at the end of the 4th round, after being a plaything of Roman's fists, and kicks.
It isn't like he is invisible though. Roman still hit him from time to time. In that case, William grits his teeth and endures the attack with another defense or a rare dodge.
His focus is solely on defense since that's what Roman wants from him. He learned so much in this little hour, that he will be shocked by how much he will improve from this simple training.
Roman knows how impressive this could be. To see the improvement,s and power beyond conventional means. But he doesn't say or even mention anything in the rounds.
All he does, is attack, repeat the word next, continue, end, or stand up. Apart from the end of the rounds where he gives him short lectures about defense measures that William could make, he doesn't add much.
The mention of pressuring attacks that William discovered wasn't even mentioned to him after the 3rd Round. William did it himself and acted until he succeeded in deflecting the slow, yet powerful, and firm attacks.
With the last 3 minutes, William goes on, until the last minute, when something he will never forget, happens.
Roman kicks in a straight line, which forces William's Vector Hand to flicker, as if it no longer has any power. Still, William endures this, and backs away only a little, before another kick goes to his right. Then another kick goes to his right, ending in him, losing something strange.
Roman forces 4th continuous spinning leg kicks to his left side, which William is no longer able to deflect.
It's too straightforward, with power, that could crush shoulder, and ribs, and cause much more pain without this defense.
William endures it, but can't do a thing when the limits are approaching. He still has his connection, but the hand no longer listens to him, as he collapses to the ground.
Watching his Emblem, and Vectors around to travel as they wish, the limits are broken.
“At last... I feared this would go forever.” Roman complains, standing firm while turning his head towards Samuel's location.
“W-what is happening? What is happening??” William cries out as he can't do anything about what is happening. He is no longer able to move his fist, or connect it with his mind.
“Calm down. Limits are fine to see. I wanted to see beyond that line.” Samuel tells as he arrives before William.
Carrying his suitcase, he opens it and puts forth a strange-looking gadget. It is a resembling some strange glass container, but not really. It is metallic in nature, with a small glass dome on top.
“Will you give me a hand?” Samuel turns to Roman, who couldn't help but nod.
Walking forward, he appears uninterrupted by the Vectors, which appear with quite a substantial Annihilation Element. Unobscured, they tear apart the surroundings around 10 feet radios around crouching William who is no longer a master of his Emblem.
Romans stop before him and grabs his right hand, which is full of Vectors. They are thick, crimson, and swirling in crazy quick motions.
Putting his hand upwards, Roman focuses the thick, and strong dark hand to become pitch black. It appears as if no light could be visibly bothered to go against it.
Vectors are so dense within his hand, that they appear as a singular entity. Roman swings his arm across William's hand, so damn wast, that William doesn't even see a thing.
Though, within Roman's hand, is a small thread of crimson vector. They are unhinged and unwilling to go away from the rest.
The pressure that is within his hand causes the little Vector to disregard any Emblem. As if the emperor of the night, is standing before it, Roman glances at it, pressuring his Vectors to do the job of turning these Vectors to submission. It is a very simple job to be exact. After all, it is a thing he did many times but never felt like he like to do.
It's not like it's important to him, but because the Institution of the Emblem is so important, he has no choice but follows it along. The current world needs it.
Any kind of new Vector, Emblem, and kind of mystery is fine to research. It's meant for the humanity and future that may, or may not change.
Who knows? Not him, nor Samuel, not anyone in the Institution.
Probably...
William couldn't move a finger, but he is conscious and could see, and feel things however he wants.
The thing that is strange is his body. It feels as if his body isn't listening to his commands at all while the motion of his Vectors seems, foreign, and out of his touch.
Seeing him retrieve what he wants, Samuel looks as if this is the most trivial thing possible. In some sense, it is, but not for a Walker who is undergoing this sort of thing.
This is a very niche practice, and it isn't as bad as it seems. Although it could lead to losing control if Walker is very unstable. But that wouldn't happen since the Instructor is Roman, who is experienced in this sort of thing.
He knows exactly what to look for in youngsters to see the limits, but this time, he couldn't really pinpoint what is William's problem. How he managed to go on within his limits for so long, was a bit suspicious.
William was reaching this limit step by step but never went overboard. That is praiseworthy, and Roman acknowledges it inside his heart.
Roman put the swirling Vectors inside the glass. Tossing the gadget to Samuel, Roman doesn't even look at him, as he sits in front of William on the ground.
Appearing calm, the boy in front of him isn't at all.
“You just reached the utmost limits with your body possibilities, which are used by the Arcanite matter. That is why you can feel everything around you. In fact, you can't lift a finger. You will have to be a little patient so it will restore itself, and so will your Emblem, Vector, and your mind.”
“Uhh... I figure that much... I thought I was supposed to give up?”
“Are you willing now?”
“Hell yeah. I feel terrible... this feels terrible. I am giving up for sure.” William says at last and shuts his eyes.
