Chapter 31: Mi-Yung

William's mind is calm after a hectic day that is the lectures, and knowledge seeking in the Library. He even feels like he would not mind other days like this. He can get used to a lot of things since he is good at overcoming difficulties with new things. It was the same way in the camps, and the same thing happens right now.

He will become a Walker, even if he doesn't particularly like it.

As his feelings stand right now, there could be a change of heart, as he will walk further down the Walker's path. He doesn't know that well, since he is ignorant of the future.

Right now, his present is all that matters to him.

William reaches the 47th building complex in the West district. The night of the moon keeps the streets lit, even though, there are still street lamps on every corner.

Inside, he reaches the apartment and gets his keys into a keyhole, and walks into the apartment.

He greets no one since Luke has been gone for 2 days already. He said something about a mission or whatnot while remaining obnoxious, and mysterious. Saying nothing of importance because that is his style. William doesn't mind it that much and shrugs it off because he is already used to Luke after a couple of days of knowing him.

But, there is a voice here, a row of bags, and military equipment in the hallway. The kitchen has some hums of the person and clutter of other sounds is heard by him as well.

“He is back?” William assumes.

“Hello th...” William stops in his tracks as he walks to the kitchen. There is a beauty to behold, while half naked with a long towel around her tight chest. She glances at William with calm eyes, while the long black wet hair, makes it obvious that she got from a shower recently.

“I.. I.. I am sorry.” he blurts out as he moves his gaze away after looking at her for longer than he should have.

“Ohhh?” she exclaims, but not a speck of embarrassment is on her beautiful face. Young, while being at worst, 30 years old, she radiated a mesmerizing aura about herself.

One thing, other than the two below... William notices a crisp clean gem between her breasts, all the way to her neck. Line and tall thin emblem is embodied in her body. It almost reaches her neck, while traveling further down, with no clue how far down in the end.

She walks to William, who doesn't know what to do.

“Hello there, William Gale,” she says while touching his chin and raising his face.

“D-d-d-d-d-does we know each other?” he mumbles.

“Pfffff... Hehehehehh.” She brakes into a hilarious laugh as she could not help herself. Making fun of this situation, she is completely oblivious about struggling William. He already had enough troubles today, and this... is something else.

“My name is Mi-Yung. Su Mi-Yung. Did Luke not tell you about my later arrival?” she introduces herself, with a bright smile, on this otherwise calm night.

“M-mister Kaufman said something about your name, b-but Luke is gone for a couple of days already, and did not tell me anything,” William explains, with a further flustering expression. She still has not left his chin down. Even her name left not much change of expression on William's face, as he doesn't know her at all. He only remembers that Mi-Yung is someone who reasoned with the Federation to send him here.

Looking at his face, she ponders for a while and finally lets his face free.

“That asshole... HAVE anything to say to that, LUKE?” Mi-Yung all of a sudden shouts as a helpless figure appears around a corner. With a towel around his lower area, Luke walks to the kitchen, while scratching his chin.

“Well, I was busy, and...”

Before being given a chance to redeem himself, a hand is pressing around his neck, while the softness of Mi-Yung's chest is forced upon his body.

Mi-Yung, in anger and frustration, performs a choke hold, while not paying any attention to her attire, or, to be more specific, the lack of it.

“YOU! Stupid! LUKE! I told you to take care of William!”

“You told me nothing of this! Do you think the word sir Kaufman said is something that I like? Hell no!” Luke argues, while slightly enjoying the hold. Not because of the hold itself, of course. That would be weird.

“I will not forgive you tonight.” MI-Yung mumbles to his head.

“Yes, please... NO. I mean, I took care of him! Did I not? Tell her William!” He glances at William who stares at the pair of adults he feels like meeting for the first time.

“A-answer please...” Luke struggles, while the hold of Mi-Yung is not one bit weaker.

Alas, no answer comes. With her attitude with Luke, Mi-Yung still refrains from going too far and lets the choke hold go. Instead, she grabs Luke's face and drags him to William.

“Apologize to him for not explaining shit.” Mi-Yung orders.

“I apologize for not explaining shit,” Luke says while being held within her palms.

“Not one BIT of sincerity? You haven't changed at all?” Mi-Yung shouts as she turns Luke's head to hers.

“I like when you are angry,” he says in a smirk.

Blushing a little, Mi-Yung let go of his face and pushes him to the ground.

“You... You wait. I will punish you.” she gazes from the higher ground at Luke, who chuckles away to his room in a tactical retreat.

With this being done, she turns her attention back to William. She smiles at him, while completely obvious to her attire all this time. In some sort of miracle or curse, the whole towel still remains on her body.

“I am sorry for showing you all of this mess. Luke is a good guy, but he can be mysterious or wordless for no good reason but shake his own impression on others. He can be quite open if he can.” Mi-Yung asks for forgiveness in Luke's stead.

“I am... I don't have a problem with Luke at all, miss Mi-Yung.”

“No need for honorifics. I may be a high Walker, but I have no need for such words.” She places her hands across each other under her chest and smirks at William with her words.

“W-what women... ” William agrees since he is a healthy young man, but his obliviousness to a whole ordeal with Ellie is a... sort of his fault for being in a foreign territory of relationships.

“Do y-you live with Luke? I thought you were part of the national military department.” William asks.

“Who says I can't be a High officer in the military, and not date Luke at the same time?” she smiles while giving an obvious answer with her unyielding tone.

“I am not questing... anything,” William argues while moving his gaze somewhere else other than this fierce woman.

“I can tell that. When did you come here?”

“How are you liking the Federation?”

“It is different from the Outside.”

“Righ. I know about it, myself. Have you eaten today? I left you some lunches when I was dispatched to some bothersome mission.” Mi-Yung offers while crisscrossing her legs and taking a seat by a kitchen table.

“I had my fill today, thank you for asking,” William answers in the same polite way while hoping to escape her gaze the same way as Luke. She sounds and acts in quite a domineering way, yet not in an angry, or bothersome way.

“Have a seat.” she points with her hand to a chair in front of her. Not giving much choice to William, who feels like he should comply.

And he does.

Sitting in front of her, he gazes around in an awkward manner while Mi-Yung stares at him.

“D-does something matter? I... would rather sleep after a long day.” William utters the words after summoning his courage.

“I knew your father. You look similar to him when I am looking at you,” she spoke in a sweet voice while leaning forward to look at him more up close. Her chest, almost revealing itself in return.

“R-really? W-where?” William leans back to escape her gaze but to no avail. He cannot.

“He saved me from my former home... last remaining shred of Korea,” she says in pain of remembrance.

“You really look f-foreign...” he says while uttering random sentences that appear in his mind. “Well, I am Korean beauty, if I say so myself.” She utters in confidence, while no one could question her words. Most often than not, no one would dare.

Leaning back in her chair, she ponders for a while, before continuing with the topic she is interested in.

“I suppose no one told you anything yet?”

“I don't know what you mean,” William asks in return.

“Yeah, I figured that much already. Can you show me your Emblem?”

“Again? What does it mean when everyone is asking to show off my emblem... at least she doesn't want to see me naked...” William thinks to himself as this happened 3 times already.

Still, he pulls the sleeve of his right hand and put his palm facing the ceiling. A crispy clean crimson gem is facing the night in the kitchen.

There are no lights, apart from the moonlight coming from the wide window that makes Mi-Yung all that more enchanting. William's Emblem summons a bit the light, which is common across every Emblem. A crimson matter is a source of energy or a matter that is unconventional in today's age. It is the sole reason why the Emblem are what they are.

Mi-Yung grabs his hand and leans forward to take a better look.

“B-beautiful crimson. You have the same colorful life as your father. So pretty.” She blushes while gazing upon the beauty she acknowledges.

“D-does it means something other than being like my father?” William mutters while enduring the woman who is leaning over his hand.

“Nothing crazy. You could have gotten some bloodline connections through the Emblem's System. After all, both of your parents were Walkers. Quite high ranked as well.” Mi-Yung says, straight to his face.

“H-How about calming down, m-miss Mi-Yung. I am quite... unused to this.” William finally utters his concern, while not even figuring out her words that talk about his parents.

“Oh, my... How embarrassing of myself. I apologize if I made you uncomfortable, but I have no need for that.” Mi-Yung says while resting her hand on her cheek. Still looking normal as ever. She does not need to feel embarrassed at all in her own home.

Pulling his sleeve back on his wrist, he, after a while of pulling his gaze back, looks at her face.

A kind, yet unfamiliar to his standards of beauty, yet very charming, honest, and grown-up face is there.

“W-what kind of matter was it that caused all of this?”

“What do you mean?” she asks as she smiles.

“I meant... it is not every day that they pull a young Walker right towards the Federation? Most end up in the facilities, around Canada, or the USA. Is it not true?” William assumes from the little research he has done so far. He already interconnected some information he had already known, to brand new expanded ones in the library. This question is the fruit of his deliberations and research.

“Oh? Have you already guessed that? It is true. It is not every day, while it is also not every month. I requested your presence here. So my standing gave me this choice in the Federation.” Mi-Yung says in a tone of experience and an utter calming voice. There is no question, of whether it is a lie, or not, as she knows the answer, while William doesn't. It could all be a small lie.

“Just who are you?” William gets an urge to get to know her a little better. A person who could perhaps be more reasonable, to talk about his parents and not run around the boiling soup like everybody else so far.
