William sees the needle, which leads to more panic inside his mind. Though, he can't do shit about what will go into his body. Even if he dislikes it, this isn't like a needle-thin syringe in the hospital. It is a thick one, the kind which has questionable use. So it's not a surprise, it leaves the nerve-wracking fear and pain, which are obviously the first things that William experiences. The skin is moved apart, while even a bit of blood is visible in insertion.
Although, the insertion goes right from the wrist part of the arm with a sharp angle underneath the Emblem itself. He feels it all, through his senses, while the pain, instantly erupted the moment the string pierced his skin.
Gritting his teeth, William endures it so far. At least he tries to, but he couldn't help much at all.
The true terror begins when Hough presses the syringe. The fluids flew through the tubes, and enter the needled before going right to his arm. This was excruciating pain, which one wouldn't imagine, or hope for his worst enemy.
William feels hotness, and pain, while also swelling feeling goes through his right hand, across his whole body.
This went for 1 and a half minutes with no changes to the Emblem. Though the pain continues to rise tenfold, and William long grunts in pain, while screams are hiding from his lungs. He doesn't want to do so, since he promised himself to be a quiet boy.
As with some promises, some are meant to be broken, and in a couple more dozen seconds, he screams through closed teeth. Yet there is nothing happening within his emblem, which Hough doesn't find normal. There should be an immediate reaction.
“Very strange. Strange.” Hough inspects the Emblem upon retreating from the chair for 10 feet away. This is a regular practice of his since he is a regular old man who doesn't want to force himself through potential dangers. But this isn't so regular as he sees it. So, he walks back to the chair to check things up.
Placing his hand on William's right forearm, he could see the swirling motion of the Arcanite matter inside the gem. It is trying to go out of there, but it's not enough for it to escape whatever is happening within this procedure. Something that hasn't happened before, but that doesn't mean he has no idea what to do. With the amount of experience he has, Hough figured some problem occurred somewhere.
Seeing the whirling motion of the Arcanite, Hough figures out the next course of action, without any idea what was happening with this.
“Switch. Let's continue with a switch!” Hough, with the next course of action, steps behind the chair and pulls one particular big switch down. Activating some sort of mechanism within the Accelerator.
A certain mechanism goes on, with steam, ventilators, and electricity much more active throughout the machines behind the chair. Seeing the activating successful, Hough still watches the Embl... William's condition on the chair. Maybe the problems disappeared with this part, but he isn't sure. He walks forward, and placed the bracelet-looking metallic mechanism, that Hough secured around William's right hand. This goes well since this leather is a special kind, which won't tear apart from any attack or force. It secures whatever Walker who would sit here, so there won't be any issues.
A sudden outburst of pain enters William's body even more. Even more so than ever before. Starting convulsing, he feels the inability to speak amidst the screaming he couldn't stop. Veins are visible throughout his body, while he feels his right hand is on fire. He even feels on the brink of losing consciousness, but this isn't possible, as something going on is within his mind. A call... something... not right. This time, the pain goes throughout his whole body, and not just the right hand.
This second part of the Acceleration releases accumulated knowledge of Hough, and many tries and experiments were necessary to achieve perfection. One could imagine what a failure means in this case, but that is a story of a buried past. That is one of the reasons for Hough's surprise, as this goes rather unexpectedly. Arcanite should be much more prone to activating throughout this procedure. They should, but this time, not so much.
Right now, the liquid inserted into Wiliam's bloodstream is going around the circles of his bloodstream. A couple of minutes are enough for the blood to circle a couple of times throughout the heart and around the body. This is the main problem for this, but this isn't about this liquid, but more about its underlying origin of it. Most of it is all about the insertion to the Emblem's location, which is the conglomeration of the liquids. It hurts for many reasons, with the basic, that the blood flow of this injection causes blood to become wild with speed. Something unfamiliar is within the body, which is a common reaction with the blood vessels, nerves, and muscles. It goes throughout the body, which isn't surprising for it to hurt like hell.
This liquid speeds up, as currents of electricity and magnetic acceleration make something awaken. The Emblem, to be exact, should stage much more effectiveness and process whatever mysteries of the Emblem are. It is painful because it's a basic human feeling. It goes through the inner body, after all. Organs, cells, and most important parts of the bloodstream and nerves are screeching under this pressure. The pain is caused by acceleration, while the liquids are the source. The aftermath of the few more minutes should be the Arcanite, which should awaken to its full potential. At least, the first part of its potential, that is.
Another minute follows, with screaming William, who twists his body in a wild manner. His hands and legs are tense and tremble wildly. William forces his head against the back of the chair, but it doesn't help shit. His mind is long, dumb, and numb. He wouldn't be able to speak even if he wants to, nor that he cares. Even curses wouldn't stop coming from his mouth at this point, but that isn't possible.
“T-this... What is happening?” Hough complains with questions and wonders over the course of the events. Nothing is happening within the body of the Emblem. This... that never happened.
William's Emblem is unyielding and not releasing any stress which is accumulating within its body. The Arcanite is supposed to fuse with the bloodstream before making a brand new Emblem. Yet, it is still preventing itself from doing so. Something... to be exact.
“Impossible. The Accelerator can already process any differences with calculations, and the human body is the same, no matter what. This should never happen again. The only answer could be the issue with the Emblem, but that is subjective. They were a piece of variable in my calculations before, but this shouldn't be the case any longer.” Hough panics and hurries towards the screenings on his computer.
There, a graph is jumping up and down. A tremendous change occurs, that goes drops from the bottom of the graph, towards the summit.
“Instability... he is... Not ready? He should be Rank 0 if he was let into this room in the first place. No... every 15-year-old is supposed to be ready for this... I tested it so extensively, so this shouldn't be the case. The injection would...” Hough mutters in uncertainty and starts mumbling while staring at the screen.
At last, to his short disappointment, William's Emblem cracks at last after another minute, which promptly shocked Hough to the ground. It releases too much dense force of the Arcanite than any previous one before.
Up to a dozen of feet up, towards the ceiling, William's Emblem releases steam of lines within the crimson color of dark red, and blackish red. “V-vectors. Such strong vectors.” Hough exclaims as he grabs the table to stabilize himself. From his position beside the screen that went mayhem in this single moment, he looks at the screenings and sights before him. The graphs are reaching the constant maximum quality, then go back to zero, and so on. It isn't stabilizing or goes gradually up like usual.
All of this is unknown to the figures beyond the mirror, who are watching the show like usual. The only difference was the strange behavior of Hough, but they don't question the ways of that madman. The screenings and calculations haven't stopped, so they can't know what are the results.
Some look in interest, some in boredom or questions. The crimson veils of Vectors are quite intense after all, and most of them see very few colors of this intensity.
Standing in one corner, Kaufman looks at his screen, but it is still too soon for that. While glancing with much more intensity in front of himself, he awaits the result. William is out there, going through the process of Awakening, which could mean something interesting, and he knows it.
“Interesting, isn't it?” A familiar voice sounds from his back. One which he expected sooner, but considering the time, it isn't late.
Kaufman glances back and sees the familiar face, much to his amusement.
“Well, I was curious about this, to begin with. Is miss Mi-Yung afraid someone will snatch him from you?” He mockingly asks the lady who finds him at last.
“I am not afraid of anything, nor you, old man.” Mi-Yung stomps forward and sits beside him without politeness. It has been another forceful guest of Kaufman, but this one, he expected.
“I was generous enough to not bother you since that time on the street. I had soma work, while the care of something was more important than this. After all, so much can be done prior to the Awakening, and I wasn't sure about the results.”
“What does it even matter? You can lie with a straight face as usual. Some things never change, I suppose. Do you believe the rise of any Walker is a walk in a park? You never taught anyone as far as I am concerned, and you suddenly want a disciple or someone... special for you? Why William?”
“You are asking this by now? Even to me? I want certain things that someone like you who has so much work and responsibilities on your shoulder, couldn't imagine. I want talent, someone who can share the much-needed burden on the world.” Kaufman says in hidden meaning. One which goes noticed by Mi-Yung, but this meaning could be different, for all that she knows about Kaufman's shenanigans.
“Again... Why William?” Mi-Yung says once more in a serious voice and looks straight into his face.
“Is miss Mi-Yung aware of him reaching Rank 0?”
“Rank 0? It isn't of an important stage for a future Walker, so I wasn't aware. Although I am aware of some effects some of them could have, the research I know about doesn't voice any importance on it. Do you know something that I don't?”
“Obviously. I am Rank 8, after all. So much can be known, while the shrouds of the Apocalypse are deep... as you know.”
“That means you are not willing to tell me anything at all. Am I right?” Mi-Yung unhappily asks.
“Yes. Though, I have some means of seeking some of these effects through some of... peculiar methods of mine. William reached that rank when he was 5 years old.” Kaufman reveals the information he got, through the effects of his.. special method.
“5? 5... Are you sure?” Mi-Yung asks with a raised brow. She also almost grabs his collar in agitation, but she doesn't want to stir any trouble in this place. Many eyes are watching, and many ears are listening, which comes as no surprise, considering many powerful Walkers. Though the former is not as much of an issue. Many secrets and exchanges are revealed on this occasion all the time.
“T-this crimson, is... accumulation of 10 years?” she asks quietly.
“I guess so. However, there seemed to be some issues. It takes a bit longer to perform the Awakening than usual. I wonder if Hough has some problems.” Kaufman turns his head away from hers and goes back to the marvelous sight beyond the window.
Before Mi-Yung has a chance to voice anything else after she found him after so long, he shuts her up. “Let's wait it out and see what's in front of ourselves first.”
Mi-Yung, to her disappointment, agrees with him and clenches her hands on the table, which screeches in terror of her grip.
Beyond the window, the crimson lines of barely an inch thick keep going forth in what could appear to be a pillar. Coming from the shattered Emblem on William's arm, it keeps expanding before a sudden change of events shocks Hough into his position once again.
The pillar changes, and it becomes to warp in density. It cracks, which unravels, the explosion of Vectors, which wraps everything in a dozen feet radius under half of a globe. Like a cage for a bird, it travels around the perimeter of the Accelerator but causes no damage to that. Hough looks forth with approaching crimson vail of Vectors and touches it with his palm. It envelops him, as he too, is soon enveloped inside of this half globe.
Speechless and muttering inaudible words, he looks around in a distinct new world around him. He had never seen something like this in the past. Such a huge effect of the Emblem is rare to see, but even though he has seen similar things, this was a bit too strange. After all, this involves the Vectors of rather an abnormality.
Those are the Vectors. A strange pattern of Emblems, where the Arcanite matter forms into particular lines, and acts in some set of rules and directions. Almost like a side of the energy, but more special and strange. They are part of the Arcanite but named Vectors because of the lines and patterned behavior. It's a substance to the Arcanite, but denser, and special
Hough looks at the source of everything, an Emblem on William's arm. He still sits there on the chair but is no longer conscious. The force is too big for him, which causes him to lose consciousness.
Hough looks forth, from a distance of a couple of feet. At least the Emblem that should be on his forearm isn't there at all.
It is gone. Disappearing somewhere amidst the explosion, or it's gone because of the Vectors that are traveling around this veil of crimson. Quite a quantity is around this perimeter that makes this half globe cage.
Hough doesn't even express any curiosity or doubt. He doesn't even notice it, as the surrounding sight is a huge stimulus to his mind. He wishes he would have a notebook to write and draw everything at the moment, but it would never disappear from his memory, so he doesn't have to worry about it.
Not far from him, he almost steps on it. A swirling matter of Arcanite and Vectors is going around the former Emblem that at some point exploded from William's arm. Perhaps the change of the pillar caused it, or the source of this is much deeper.
It no longer presents itself as a gem, because the Vectors aren't smooth. They are rough, like tentacles, lines, and blood vessels that are tiny in comparison to the surrounding ones. Its appearance and shape are the same as the Emblem from before, but more crimson looking, and rough.
Though, there is still something different, which soon happened. The crimson matter around it jolts back and forth as it changes to a humanoid figure. One that was bathing in sunlight from time to time beyond William's back, or knowledge.
Yet this time, it appeared more pained. Struggling to hold the Emblem matter through its connections, as if something was lost. It wants to touch something, which is no longer here. It doesn't know what is happening, yet it knows that something that matters is important.
This being struggles a lot amidst the swirl of the vectors that make its small body. Below it, is still the rough-shaped Emblem, with 3 corners, which makes a coin-like shape. It is unnoticed by anything or anyone. Not even beings beyond the mirror know what is happening inside of this half globe that obscures the human eyes.
Without a face on its head, the humanoid figure, barely a foot tall, presses its limbs around the former jewel that is the Emblem. It forms a much stronger whirlwind of Vectors, as everything becomes one. The being disappears into the presence of the Emblem without alerting Hough.
As if undergoing a jolt of electricity and shock, the Emblem Arcanite matter revolves at an incredible speed and causes it to raise to the air. As if a small black hole is happening, it keeps sucking the surrounding Vectors into its body.
This, at last, alerts Hough, as he turns around his back after he marvels at the feeling of the Vectors passing through his body. It did not hurt him, and even the machines still work fine. Though, the screen shows different results this time. A steep bottom is in the graph, which isn't noticed by Hough, who has a mind full of other things.
All of a sudden, a steep voice of a man echoes throughout this enormous room. “Everything alright, director Hough?”
It jolts Hough away, but he is already paying it no attention. Before him is a new sight. A small crimson hole eats up the Vectors.
“What is it? Who are you?” He asks as he walks forth. Placing both palms forward, as if he wants to grab it. Alas, he stops himself, as his skin, is peeling off his fingers. He backs away since the vortex's intensity is hurting the atmosphere. It does... something dangerous. No, the vortex and the energy are dangerous in itself.
“What... What are you?” Hough asks again while finding it unfamiliar. It doesn't even resemble William's emblem, so he can't guess any correlation to it at all. He still doesn't notice William's arm, which is without anything in it. Just a hole, flesh, and strange liquids going within his arm, bone, flesh, and bloodstream that are visible.
