William, upon seeing this kid so proud, couldn't help but ask. “What is that?”
“Can't you read?” Takker pushes the card onto William's face in whatever attempt he is even trying to clear up.
An inch from his face, William read. “Premium Walker pass?”
“Righ, you little shit. This is a pass for important figures of the Walker world. Though you must be a young Walker like myself, our position is not the same. I can access the information that no Rank 0 Walker should.”
“Wow. Such as?” William sarcastically asked, while completely unbothered by the gaze of 6 grown ass man who looks at him as if he is a chicken, ready to be slaughtered.
“Such as Rank 6 monster information! Do you think these little pebbles called Hellgars are so important? They are only cannon fodder in the ranks of Dark beings.” Takker voices his profound information that would guess any kid Outside. For the most part, that is. He managed not to see the other document regarding the Jawran, which should be restricted for young Walkers.
“Sounds impressive, but I think they are plenty powerful. Have you ever seen a person being munched by the Hellgar right before your eyes?” William asks.
Yet, the answer that Takker chooses is not one bit what Wiliam expects.
“Why should I care about such an insignificant question? That doesn't bother me at all.”
“Alright. Alright. That sounds fair when I think about it. Please, go on. I will finish my research while you can do yours.” Before is Takker given a chance to respond, the slapped person named Connolly talks first. “This is not a request. Leave.”
“So unyielding... Fine. It's not like these documents about Dark beings will get lost all of a sudden.” William sights to himself, while with a quick motion swipes every single folder with papers into his hands.
Getting to his feet, he takes his card and stores them back in their rightful place. As if the gaze of the Takker couldn't be more victorious and proud, he nods to himself in approval.
Takker glances at William in a sliver of contempt, while being proud of his win. If it even could be called that. He is here for a lesson, while Connolly is the teacher provided by his father. The best place for this is, of course, the Grand Library of the Federation. Even when one is the son of the Prime Hunter of the Assembly. It would not take that long for William to learn about this famous figure amongst the Walkers.
Still, it takes him some minute to store everything, and Takker shouts in impatience.
“What takes you so damn long!?”
“Well, some noisy asshat made the mess of order about the folders. I have to rearrange them.” William half saying half focusing on the task in his hand without much thinking.
In a few strides, Takker shoves William against the cabinets while grabbing his shirt's collar.
“I don't like you one bit, you little shit.”
William is pushed onto the open cabinet behind his back as he is yet to be finished. Looking at the all-so-arrogant face of this youth, he couldn't help but be surprised by how this person act and speak. He has never met someone like that in the Federation and he is quite unreasonable and a total asshat.
“I suppose I am done, sir howeveryouarecalled.” William replies after the rearrangement of the documents takes only a couple of moments more to the correct order. That is also one of the unspoken rules about the library, so he has to do that.
While Takker keeps on pushing him against the cabinets, William has no place to move yet.
“I guess you don't understand the situation you are in,” he says to the face of calm William that drives him mad.
“Sir Takker. Let this go.” Connolly asserts behind Takker's back.
“Yeas, sir Takker, let this go.” William asserts as well without a hint of bother on his face.
“So little shit is a jokester, joke about this.” Takker flips his right hand back, and swings in at William's face whose appearance turns serious in a moment.
Just as he was about to be hit, William kicks his left ankle. Slipping away, Takker's swing travels from a frontal direction, to downwards with a clear swing around William.
His face ends in the cabinet, while the pain is twisted on his face as the hand hit the floor.
“Arghthhh. You little..”
“You should be a bit more careful about swinging the hand of yours, or you gonna hit yourself instead,” William tells at last and takes his bottle from the table. Before giving a chance to the group of bodyguards or whatever this group is, he jumps at the inner door, which has to be opened by the card as well.
Opening the door inwards, William scratches his hair with his card, before glancing backward as the Takker gets on his feet.
“Give me your fucking name, you little shit.” Takker flickers his hand to stop his man from seizing this boy.
“William Gale, you noisy asshat. That name is quite nice sounding, considering yourself and your strange eyebrows.” William says in a clear mockery.
“Stark Takker. I will see you in the examination.” the boy proclaims without anger. He only watched as William disappears behind the self-closing mechanism of the door without any other words, but a smirk on his face.
Only one person in the room notices the Full pass card in William's hands. That one, being the Connolly who sights upon the troubles that could have been solved with relative ease. To his abysmal, his little master before his eyes is a rather troublemaker. He is also somewhat playful and vivid, to say the least.
“Heheheh... It has been a while since I met such an unyielding and interesting person.” Stark chuckles with satisfaction.
“M-master Takker, y-your forehead...” One of the bodyguards says and points to a bulging mountain on Stark's forehead.
Finding it with his fingers, Stark curses out loud. “That little shiiiit...”
Out in the hallway, William quenches his thirst as he leans on the railing. Enjoying his view a little, nothing could bother him. Not even the situation of a couple of minutes of the past.
“So, there are people like this in the Federation? I wonder if the world of Walkers has more of these people or not. At least Mi-Yung is nice and... yea. That is about it, Ellie too, but what else? I don't know about them... people.” William assumes, while not including Luke.
Even though William wasn't in the room for long enough to call it a the end of the day, it was better than no time there. The information would never cease to exist, so he will look for them tomorrow. The only hope he has is not the return of today and this group of people.
“Oh well. It is not that bad of a deal, considering the bad luck of my lost Emblem this morning. Let's go to the 3rd floor.”
With the decision to end today's time on the 3rd floor, William is ready to roll with the magnificent stories of Jules Verne. Since Ellie has recommended it to him all the time, he expects them to be very good, since it is her opinion.
“She should have quite good taste, considering she works here. She must have spent the majority of her time of her life in the Library.” William assumes as the literature book named Around the world in 80 days is open for William to see.
Sitting back on his comfy sofa, he sees old but manageable pages. This one is an older and rather different kind of style than the book he is used for. Nonetheless, he will get through it the same way as with many books on all the floors. His reading and understanding of the written words improved quite well over the last 2 weeks. Even his vocabulary improved in a small way.
Yet, he still feels lacking, but that comes from the expectation that he put on himself when it all started.
Even Ellie finds his improvement notable, but she hasn't voiced this to him yet. She has other things in her head that want to be told instead.
Alas, the time is the same every day, with more days that follow in a steady flow of learning and lectures.
3rd week, and before William knew it, the 4th week passes as well.
William is in the Federation for an entire month.
The sun in the barren view of the butt-naked William leads to another day of his time.
It is the same struggle every time, where he curses the sun of...
“There it is. Another day.” William stretches his palm while feeling refreshed after a comfortable sleep. Even his Emblem hasn't been lost this week, so no need for made-up worries.
Extending his right arm towards the ceiling, William does the same old ritual for the past few weeks. Clenching his hand tightly, in the motion of grabbing a new day. With a few stretching and exercises, he is ready to follow up his routine.
“Another day, though, a year older, isn't it?” He asks himself in wonder.
Today is his birthday, to his knowledge. A day of his birth, on May 5th.
Glancing outside, there is a sunny day as usual. In truth, only a couple of days of the last month have been raining with the occasional storm.
“Seems like a nice day.” William puts on his clean and washed clothes and goes out of his room.
In the kitchen, Mi-Yung alone greets William, since Luke has been away on some mission for the past 10 days.
“Good morning.” he greets Mi-Yung, who has prepared breakfast for both of them. Buttered sandwiches with some ham and tomatoes are on two plates on the table.
“Morning, William.” she greets him with a warm smile, as usual.
At this point, William is quite used to her shenanigans. From what he could gather, Mi-Yung is a bit unhinged, but she is taking good care of him. Once, she even visited him in the library for half a day. It was the only day ever since their first one a couple of weeks ago.
William still remembers it quite well, and even more so, because of the distinct shine. The storm of light and emotions amidst her appearance of activating some sort of power against Kaufman left him speechless to this day.
He could still remember the sight of her back, while he only watched their exchange and nothing else. He couldn't do shit because from the sight of a higher rank walker for the first time at such a close distance.
Her position in the Federation is already very firm, while none questions her at all. She is one of the youngest in the Assembly halls, but not just anyone can get there at all. That, William understood after many conversations with Ellie for the past weeks.
Only worthy and expert chosen ones would get into Assembly Island.
From what William could gather, it is a place on an island that is not so far from this the mainland of this archipelago. A lot of important military operations are decided there, with Walkers being the rulers.
Through some motions and harvest by lack, Mi-Yung explained to him a few things. For example, the Korean push 18 years ago, led to a lot of trouble.
Mi-Yung came from that time when the Federation was being barely functional. Still, the Federation back then had at least many powerful Walkers at its ranks. Be it Kaufman and the others like him.
Mi-Yung herself is a proxy for many internal and external affairs in the forces of mankind. For the most part in the Federation, with deals with China, India, and New Zealand.
“What are you planning for today?” she asks before biting her sandwich.
“Same as usual.”
“Aren't you bored already? It has been a month.”
“It has been a month of your questionable glanced at what I am planning every day. Are the plans so important?” William argues while being more relaxed around Mi-Yung than in the past.
She hasn't changed one bit, so all William assumes is that she is simply put, very honest and easygoing. That and open-minded about a lot of things, while obvious to others.
Such as her personal space, and... some decency.
