William thinks little of such demands since he would do so anyway. The time limitations of his Cyckles are just that. A limiter of his body that can get stronger in the following months, and years. That is at least how William perceives it.
The timer between activations of the skills is one of the major concerns of the Walkers, and Roman talks about it at least twice a day.
“I am ready, Arise!” William says, taking a stance, while his whole right hand is covered in currents of deep crimson Vectors. The rest of the usual Vectors that go around his shoulder and back are also present, but because of the dominant factor of the Annihilation Claw, they aren't as pronounced. In the same manner as before, William appears collected, focused, and his Vectors are so densely packed together that it seems like a singular hand.
Roman looks at the incoming boy, whose right side of his body is visibly strained. His muscles, veins, and vision in his eye speak for themselves. It adds a certain power to a Walker. This situation that William has. Roman knows how hard it must be for him.
Regardless of how he feels about it, he wants to see William go at least to the same time as last time.
“Began.” He tells as William summons his Inner Enchantment, and strikes straight with his palm, which appears sharper than ever.
Roman dodges in a backstep, but William forces his step, pushing faster forward. In a moment, he appears right into his side chest, stabbing his finger into Roman's shadowy chest. For the first time, the shadows subside, making the fingers travel a bit deeper beyond these layers of shadows.
William's hand gets stuck while doing so, but Roman flickers his hand and pushes William away. His shadowy Vectors return to their previous appearance, causing no hole to be present.
“Again,” Roman says in an unbothered tone. He doesn't make it obvious that he didn't expect his defenses to be breached. Unlike the flat-out fist and striking motions, the sharpness that William has seems to be quite effective.
It was fortunate, that Roman's true appearance beyond the fog is much smaller. William missed him by quite a lot of inches.
Though, William doesn't think that he nearly injured his instructor, since he thinks Roman is someone like Mi-Yung. Someone who he can't possibly injure and defeat at all.
Unfortunately, he may be mistaken. Not every Walker has a robust body that can take any strike. That is a fact that William is yet to know.
When Roman is in the state of Imitation, whether an attack passes through his Vectors, he is prone to them with his physical body that is unprotected by anything. In this case, his Skill has clear cons and pros, according to the System and development on his own. Unless his defenses aren't breached, Roman has full confidence that none would pose much threat to his real body.
William attacks in the same pattern, pouncing at Roman with a straight palm strike with his claw facing upwards.
Roman, this time, places more emphasis on deflecting and defending. As he should since that's how this training is supposed to go. He won't let his small mistake go, when he, at last, wants to get a taste of the sheer sharpness and force of William's attacks.
William dances like a madman, striking and using his feet to move at high speed. They almost appear like playing a game of tag. Roman is in retreat at all times, while he rarely deflects.
Palms, slaps and even more stabbing finger attacks are flying left and right. The speed seems quicker than in the last round, but William doesn't pay much attention to the past. He is too focused on the task at hand. He is in a trance of figuring more out of his possibilities.
In the past few days, this small amount of familiarity with being a Walker worked wonders for him. William feels a surge of adrenaline, and his beating hurt doesn't seem to be something he finds all that bad. After the last practice in the last round, his mentality changed after gaining more confidence in his Feel of the Annihilation. Since there weren't any issues, he decides to go all out in this round.
Though, the timer still doesn't reach better marks than before. William fails to strike Romans, and by this extension, stumbles to that wall when his right hand distorts into the wall. His arm travels to his elbow, all the way into the wall thanks to his piercing fingers.
“Oh?” he mumbles, feeling the limits approaching his hand.
“Heheheh. This is funny. Are you stuck?” Roman says in a mocking tone behind his back.
“I am.”
“Ceasue your Emblem and get out. This is about to be your limit anyway. Look at yourself and your body.” Roman says, ceasing his own emblem away this time around.
Seeing him return, William looks at himself, unaware of how sweaty, unkept, and strained his body looks. He has no choice but complies. Even though he doesn't know the exact number, he feels his heartbeat going crazy. It is at least 150 beats a minute for sure, but he can't be sure about the exact number. It's the usual stuff where he fights like mad, causing the flow of his whole body to be strained like an unreleased bowstring. He is ready to pounce, but the course of his Emblem, Cyckles, and Feel of the Anhililation strains his muscles quite a lot.
From these rounds, Roman can tell that his body can take this strain, but it isn't flexible enough to work for longer.
The body of the Walkers isn't indestructible, or it is a work of inhumanity. The physicality of human anatomy still works for them to a large degree. Albeit, the further Walker goes, the more inhuman their body ends up like. Humanity won't last forever against the Dark, and Roman is sure of it. In order to get stuff done, a loss of humanity in Walker's body is mandatory. Without it, it would be a disaster.
That's why a break is necessary when following beginner training. This break that Roman tells William will cool his body down, relax his muscles and calm his heartbeat back to normal.
“Begone.” William connects his mind to his Emblem, returning the dense vectors back to the gem in his forearm. He pulls his hand from the wall down to his hips, resting it with a few shaking motions to feel it. The flow of vectors that goes back to his hand feels like insects crawling inside. It is a bit uncomfortable, but it's over in couple of seconds.
Leaning on the wall, he sights in relief for a rare stoppage in the middle of the round.
“How did it go? You wanted to see and feel it much better yourself, didn't you?” he asks Roman, who appears puzzled, but calmer than before.
“I did. It's quite an interesting way to go about the use of your Claw. It is quite peculiar if you ask me. What if you use the Annihilation element with this kind of attitude with less density?” Roman asks.
“Less?” William raises his arm and looks at his Emblem. “The Vectors would become far from each other. Then the control would get much harder since I am using quite a bit of my will to work with 3 or so Skills already. Fusion is harder to use as is, while Inner Enchantment, and Feel of the Annihilation are better.”
“That is the usual stuff. Some Skills are worse in control than others. Figuring them out is done in individual manner and System requirements.” Roman affirms Wiliam's answers. “Then, what about a proper power of them? Do you feel them working too hard, or it's manageable?”
“It's... manageable, but when all of them are in use, then it becomes harder. If I want to include the controllability that the Feel of the Annihilation is doing, then I suppose maintaining what you asked me about for 3 or so minutes would be possible. Maybe less if I am wrong with my guess.”
“That doesn't seem that farfetched,” Roman says. “It may be quite a good guess I would say so. Your skills work great together while your footwork is getting better too. Though, this could come as a disadvantage, since your whole body is kind of focused on attacking alone.”
“Yea. Glass cannon is the term you are trying to say again. I suppose it's something for something. I know that placing some protection with the use of the Feel of the Annihilation could give me some benefit, but that would need a new mold or work. Perhaps some other possibilities will happen if I will work on them for a couple of weeks.” William says, uttering his words with curiosity that befits his age.
“Making your Claw denser is definitely a great idea to attack much faster, thus stronger. Let's consider this method of attacking as a great success.” Roman nods, giving William his opinion. “Next will come your less chaotic and more well-rounded Annihilation Claw.”
“Well rounded?” William asks.
“You showed me the well-rounded vision of that in the past, so let's go with that. It's that one without much change. It's average, so it's well-rounded. It's not dense or overly bulky.”
“Oh, that? I suppose that isn't a bad idea to try in this offensive spar. Making it denser is great and all, but it has more drawbacks than advantages.”
“Depends on context,” Roman adds. “Master your footwork deflects, and use of your right hand's movement and it won't matter what kind of problem you will face.”
William chuckles at his comment. “You make it sounds so easy... I fear it's nothing like that at all.”
“Sure. Whatever you think, boy.” Roman chuckles, giving him no real solution. “However, I must say, there are a lot of things that depend on a few of things. Now, I want you to go over this Annihilation Skill, and the things you learn, figure and recognize. With this overview, work with it into the near future.
“So demanding...” William mumbles, scratching his right arm.
“What?”
“Nothing. Nothing. I will do it, don't worry.”
“Thought so. Now, get ready. It's time for the remaining round.” Roman gets up, not really caring that William waits a few more minutes to steady his Emblem.
When ready, William gets on his feet, while taking a few glances at his body. It is somewhat strained and leaner than usual. Veins aren't as pronounced, but muscles have some definition to them.
“Where did I get so muscular?” he asks himself, pointing his attention to his arms of all things. Maybe he is pumped with so much adrenaline that he appears a bit bigger, but that doesn't explain the power he feels throughout his body.
“I guess these are the effects that Roman explained before. It isn't that bad, but I like the leaner build. Too many muscles aren't great. I feel the speed is a much better fit for my Claw and faster movements.” he assumes, summoning his courage by light jumps on the spot to pump his blood. After that, he summons his Emblem.
This time, William places more attention on the vision of his Annihilation Claw. He wants no density to matter, so he uses the Feel of the Annihilation, he makes a bigger kind of claw. Spikes around knuckles add a hefty sharpness to each punch. Even the back of the palm has sharp edges to them made of Vectors that cycle around the Claw, filling it with Annihilation. This, right here, is his Anhiliation Claw filled with Annihilation to about 40 to 50% effectiveness. It is about what William thinks is the optimal, well-rounded use of his Claw. Though, he could only guess how this would feel while fighting. He may as well lose control again, while not even 5 minutes would pass.
“Well, only one thing can be done to find out, isn't it right?” William whispers to himself, clutching his bigger claw with resolution.
“When I see it like this, your Fusions skill indeed seems like a big deal. It's not bad, but I wonder about your strength and core strength of yours more. The effectiveness of your fingers seems rather restricted, aren't they? They are thicker, thus bigger and harder to control.” Roman utters in a deep tone. Before William notices it, he returned to his Imitation.
“I am not used to this yet. Let me test it myself, as I barely did something with this Skill since yesterday.” Wiliam replies, placing his right hand which is about 6 feet long forward.
It's longer than his whole body, so it's quite noticeable that it should feel rather poor to move and adjust one's body according to the attack.
And that's precisely what William wants to experience next.
He could already tell the difference in feelings. The smaller, denser claw is different than this one. It has trouble controlling the joints, making the movements stiffer. The first attack he does ends up rather slow, even when he activates the Inner Enchantment.
Though, something unexpected occurs instead.
William's first attack may be slow, but when the fist arrives and hits Roman's palm, a forceful kick to the ground and push of his upper body forces Roman's whole arm away. In this matter, he even lost his footing, and almost fell over, since he focused on the upper defense, and not the lower one.
“Oh? This has been rather unexpected. A steeper raw power than the dense one? Seems rather balanced, but it has its unfamiliarity, so let's go again.” Roman says as a matter of fact, that he wasn't jsut pushed away by rank 1 Walker.
William adjusts his hand closer to his body and feels his Claw's movement of the Vectors. As Roman explains, he needs more familiarity, and there is no better place for that than an actual fight. For that, the best action seems to be to use the upcoming rounds as well as 1 or 2 more series to push his familiarity up.
Unlike the dense and small Claw, this Annihiatin Claw has a drastic difference in cycles. The residual Vectors are flying around his back, neck, and shoulder, and are also part of his bare chest. The chaotic cycling paths of Annihilation Vectors are nothing normal in this form. They don't act around his whole body as armor would, but he for sure knows that these wild Vectors act like some sort of armor. Even though it isn't stated in his Skill description that he read in the morning, he is sure of it.
“This has been a fist, so let's try my pincher!” William says out loud, smiling in the process of turning his palm in Roman's direction.
“What? What is a Pincher?” Roman asks in confusion but anticipates the attack nonetheless.
William makes the same motion that he did not long ago. His 5 fingers pointed towards a singular tip. He pinches them all, thus making it a pincher. Then, he pounces forward with his whole body weight behind this attack. He goes even faster and stronger, leaping with 3 large steps of his legs, which are quite strong thanks to his Inner Enchantment.
“Oh? A Pincher? A fitting name, I guess.” Roman chuckles, using a bit more strength than necessary to form a defensive stance by placing his both palms forward.
Though he may try his best, it once again goes out of his touch, as William arrives in a single moment towards him.
Bigger, fierce, and forward, William's whole pincher ends up vanishing into Roman's palm, disintegrating into the fog, until it charges into his chest. Waves of Vectors disintegrate Roman's upper shadows, but the rest of his body remains in shadowy vectors.
William flies over Roman's shocked expression, leaving flickering shadows around the shoulder area of this giant.
He miscalculated the sheer focused power that this attack just did, which ends him flying over the air to the other side of the bunker.
“It is quite strong, isn't it? How big defenses have you even used? It went a little hard on me, but I flew through your shadowy shoulders and disintegrated your palms.” William says. Satisfaction is all over his face.
In 2 seconds, Roman laughs in an unfamiliar rough tone. In a mere moment, he restores his appearance as quickly as it dissipated.
