9 Oakbury Boys

I sigh, no cars are in sight. "Couldn't we just take a train?" "Yeah, but they already left." I stop tilting my head and she points to smoke in the distance. We suddenly jump as a gun goes off. Sunny uses me as a shield as I get hit. "Get your hands up!" A man hops out a broken window with rock covering his fists and the gunman falls in.

We all suddenly jump as a trash can topples over. A racoon scurries out and begs to us. The shooter turns to it, "What the-" It's claws extend and it swings it's arm. A fence post flies into the gunman's forearm. In the confusion, I tense up my arm and punch at the boxer's arm. He blows me back with his right hook. I land on my chest and Sunny goes for the gunman's sidearm.

The boxer starts towards her and I grab his foot. He comes toppling down and Sunny points the gun at him. I straddle onto his back as Sunny gets overpowered. "Let him go or she dies!" My nose crinkles, "Do that and I kill him!"

The racoon clacks away as I stare him down with a straight face, "Put the gun down- Please, I don't want anyone else dying today." The guy under me looks up to him, "Just put it down man." He holsters his pistol, so I stand up and run to Sunny. "Who are you guys?" He points to the boxer, then to himself "Jimmy, Nell- You guys?" I shrug, "DH and Sunny. Came up from Oakbury. Going to kill the army."

Their eyes open wide, "Why? They're rescuing people!" "Tell that to my-" I take a deep breath, "My little sister was gunned down by them." Sunny rubs my back as they back away. "Shit, he's one of them?" "Relax, he's just pissed!" The bloodlust comes back, but not for these guys. I sniff the air like a dog, "A couple of soldiers on the other side of?" The boxer groans, "Ditchford."

The boxer grabs at his head. "Shit! He's right. Shoot on sight?!" "They can't!" We all look at each other as voices come within earshot. Jimmy shushes us and waves for us to follow. We go into a house as soft footsteps near. He squeezes into a low cabinet. The rest find places to hide. I pick the wardrobe, "Clear!" Another set of footsteps head into the house, they take their time, inching through like mice.

A soldier comes right in front of the wardrobe and opens it. "Anything in there?" After he looks around, a great relief envelops me, he closes it. "Nah!" "C'mon, we gotta keep patrolling before the airstrikes." Airstrikes?! If only Sunny wasn't in the crossfire right now!

They exit through the back door, "Clear!" A few minutes pass and someone gets out of their hiding spot. The rest of us follow suit. Nell scratches his head, "Airstrikes? They couldn't." He yelps as I march into the room. "They can and will." Jimmy points, "How are you so calm?"

I tilt my head, "I'm not." "Everyone like you turned into monsters." I smile, "The army'll see us all as monsters" His face tells me I'm spot on. Sunny mumbles something, "What, baby?" She slams her fist against the table, "They're fucking bombing us!" We all step back from her booming voice. She was never this loud. Jimmy even had to cover his ears good. "Relax-" Her voice trembles as she stands up. "We should gather up everyone still alive and fuck the UG-double A up."

Did she change too?! Or was this her breaking point? She looks at me, "Are you shivering?" She's so fierce, thank god I never pissed her off. She grabs my arms and I stop shaking. "It's just cold in here." Nell scratches at his acne, "How can we stop the UGAA?"
