I grab my side, fall to the floor and groan at the pain. Rose laughs with her sword buried in me. "Give me yer booty!" I groan, "I'll walk the plank before you get your hands on my gold!" She pulls the sword out my armpit and I go limp. "Again! Again!" Norbert!? I stand up fast and hold my earpiece, "Your highness?!" Rose perks up, "Mommy!?" Is she safe!? I sigh, "I'm keeping her calm." I trust she's okay?! I sigh, "Looked bleak for a moment. Luckily, the Americans have someone capable in their midst." Are you okay? "Madame, I'm not worth-" You kept my baby safe! You deserve my praise. "What happened to the comms?" Something to do with our satellites. They're all damaged or something. She starts cutting out, "Your Highness!?" Ke-p -r safe!
Rose tugs on my uniform, "Is mommy okay!?" I rough up her hair and she giggles, "She told me to tell you- She loves you very much. She hates that she can't see you right now." I hold out my hand, "Hey, come with me." She nods and grabs it, I walk out and a woman in a wheelchair smiles, "This must be Rose." I look around, "We were just leaving." She rolls with me and I start darting my eyes around every corner. People with hands in pockets, the soldiers hold firm, rifles in arms. "No one's out to hurt you two." "I have a job to do, leave us alone." She sighs as a kid with an emotionless stare passes us. "Jack! There you are!" Rose turns back to the two, I tug on her hand gently. "Where are we going, Norbert?" "You'll see."
I march up to a soldier and he lets us past, into a tent. That old man that saved us argues with the Governor as some girl wraps his arms in bandages. Rose slips out my grip and hugs the old man's leg. He looks down and smiles, then at me, "You have a wonderful daughter." I shake my head, "Rose-" She shakes her head and looks up at him at just four feet tall, "That was so cool!" The governor crinkles his nose at the sight, firm grip on his holster. I march forward, stomp and stare at him. He looks at me, then rests his hands on the table quick. "Look who kept far away from the fight, our British guest." "And you're willing to shoot an old man, maybe even her." Rose runs over and hugs my leg, a shame she's heard my tone change before. "This man killed my children." The old man cuts in, "You know who did it, it was not me-" The governor turns, "Say, how did you two get away from that hotel, glorified bodyguard?" "Some people in the hotel attempted to hurt her hours before the city started falling. Americans." The old man looks to me, slides over a photo of a man. I nod, "Yup, that was one of them."

The old man points, "This man killed those children, he was that thing that we all just fought. Said something about-" He pauses and stares off- He waves, "Nevermind." I look over, "Governor, you're sweating." "Must be all this heat." I sigh, "What's is our situation then, Governor?" "You sure she can hear this?" She peeks over the table, "I'm his first mate!" I smile as he raises his brow in disgust and confusion, "We're pirates today- She can take it."
He rolls his eyes, "I cannot guarantee your safety back to England. Comms between worlds are now down and we have to stabilize America before we help you." I smile, "I am surrounded by Americans, anyone here could be an assassin. Your ally's heir to the throne isn't priority?" The old man's jaw drops, "She's royalty?!" I forgot he was here, "Who are you?" "Diesel Jaggentide, local farmer." Rose giggles, "You sound funny." Diesel chuckles and grabs at his chest. The blonde smiles, "Jean, friend of Diesel's." The Governor clears his throat and Jean walks out. "She is not priority, Red Coat." I growl, "My name is Norbert- I demand you take us out of harms way." "Okay Norbert- Last time I heard, New York is flooding, Tsunamis coming in from the south, here to Kentucky, we got earthquakes, but worst of all, we got demons around every corner of America!"
