81 Been here before

I groan at the pain and confusion. It all comes back as I move rocks off me. The energy flushes from my body, forcing me to hunch over.

I gulp as eyes stare back with the help of scattered light from the flaming remains of the soldiers' oil lanterns. I get myself up as screeches and snarls come through the darkness. I shake the dust off of me and go back towards the entrance. Rook's voice echoing from the shadows, "Demonio?" I gasp and limp towards where the exit was, "Governor!? Rook!?" Rook's voice echoes, finally words that I can understand, "Diesel, is it?" "Yeah! Where are you!?" He zooms past, coat and all, that machete glides against my leg and I fall to the floor with a grunt, "Not even a demon's reaction time is good enough to stop that? A pity."

What feels like crazy amounts of sweat, is my blood. I try to stay on one knee, but I fall onto my hands, "Why?" "You know too much. As do I." I feel around in the dark for something, anything. I chance upon something sharp, pointy. "So why try to kill me?" "There's gold in it for me, let's face it, who will trust dollars after this disaster?" He zooms in again, I explode up and cut into his shoulder. He roars as his sleeve tears off, blood drips from his hand. In the fire's light, thick, bulbous pustules line his arm, he plucks one off and pops it, green smoke explodes from it as I cough. A series of slashes dig into my hard skin as I gag and claw at my feelings to get my bearings.

I finally take a deep breath and shut my teary eyes as my heart booms. I swing my fist and hit him. The smoke dissipates and there he lays, on the floor. I wobble as every inch of me screams to get out. I limp to the exit and my hands lean on the very stones that blocked it. I can hear the animals surround me as I keep losing blood. I force stones to pack my wounds and they lock into my skin. An animal squeals in pain and with the sound of a blade slicing out of it, it stops. "Get off me!" He marches towards me and the animals burrow me a way out.

Rook roars and cuts at the animals attacking him. I limp as giant moles burrow upwards. Herds of bats, birds, even worms surround me, aching to get away. Rook screams at me, "You'll regret striking me, Demon!" I look back as daylight shines through, green smoke explodes and encroaches up towards us. Screams and squeals with the sound of a blade slicing through flesh. I pick up the pace and stumble, but a flock of bats push me upright. One bat holds on for dear life with one wing torn. The sun's heat finally touches me as I fall down. Herds of animals burrow or run away. But that bat that clung to me, it stands upright and spans it's wings with a smile. I feel a gust push up and there he goes, flying without any need to flap it's wings.

I quickly try to stand, but the energy once more flushes from me. As it does, a great impact slams through my back. "I said, you will regret it." Teeth saw at my insides on his blade's malicious exit. Green smoke envelops me and my vision goes black.

"Where the hell is that Crumpet boy?!" I gulp with my knife in hand. I crouch up silently, then stand. I slit a soldier's throat and pull him into the wild bushes. I pull his weapons off him under the moon. I tap my side and watch them guard that one garage. A scream comes from it as a soldier points my way, "He's gone! Fan out!" " I'm right here, you bastards. I quietly chamber a round.

I exhale hard and slowly look up at Rook, "Well, you know my secret." I smirk, "Demonio." He hacks into my arm and I shout in pain. "I am going to enjoy killing you, Perra." "As I hear they say in New York, Screw off!" He hacks into my arm and I scream. I jump as I hear part of me thud against the floor. He grabs my face, "Aww, it just fell right off. Look-" I bite his hand and he slices deep into my leg, "Maldita perra!" I scream in pain as gunshots go off outside. A firefight breaks out as Rook takes his time cutting into me. Someone falls into the room and Rook gets behind me, the machete goes to my neck.

Norbert rushes into the room and shouts like a maniac, "Put it down!" Rook snarls back in an even scarier way, "O qué!?" He looks at his arms, "I'm already dead!" He jerks the blade near my throat, "Don't breathe in the fumes!" Rook shouts, smoke envelops us and Norbert opens fire. The blade slices through the skin of my neck, but my blood doesn't pour out. A series of clashes explode from inside the smoke.

With my eyes shut and slow deep breaths of the fumes, I hear him rush in with that suitcase. He slams me with the suitcase, but I lean into the strike. I ram my blade into his side and knee the handle on his retreat. I only know it a success from the two gasps for air, then the door creaking closed. The smoke clears and I kneel before Diesel.

Chained to a chair and drenched in his own blood, cut up beyond repair. I cry as he mutters, "Where's Rose?!" I sob, then manage to stop myself. "I should've killed those tank crew soldiers. Whatever they had, spread through every soldier." He dozes off for a moment, "Notes from higher command." I grab at my head, "What's going on here?" He taps lightly with his one foot, "The army's rotten." He dozes off again and I get up. "No! No!" I slap him lightly, "Wake up! You hear me!?" I lean in and no air's coming from his mouth. I jerk myself up and shout at him, "I'm at the end of my goddamn rope! I ran from those soldiers, away from Rose so I have a chance at saving her. And you-" I poke against his hard skin, "If anyone could help me, it was you! Now Jack- and merry Christmas to me, MY ROSE, IS GOING TO DIE!" I punch his chest hard as I could and fall to my knees in a sob. "My own daughter!" A deep breath in and a great glow explodes from him.

He wheezes awake, eyes glowing orange. "Norbert!?" I look into his eyes as the ground quakes, "Get out!" I run outside without a second thought. I watch as the place collapses in on itself, as if a black hole was birthed in that garage. And the garage implodes on itself, and out of the condensed mess, comes a body. Diesel stands up and walks up, eyes glowing. On a closer look, a new arm and leg, but they're all stone. "Let's go save our family."
