I take a breather and a man in a secret service outfit shoots a stone past my ear. I pull my pistol and he raises his hands. A demon squeals off the balcony. “Your welcome.” I lower my pistol, “What the hell is going on here?” “Soldiers and those things started killing people.” He waves his hand and a stone levitates, “And I can-“ he grabs at his hand and moans at the pain, the stone falls, blood pours out his arm. “Your arm-“ “I’m fine- You have to get the kids out!” The sound of bricks crumbling, cracking, “Why not you?” He smiles and pulls up his suit, white undershirt, drenched in a mix of green discharge, black sludge and blood. “Holy shit.”
He laughs, “Yup, the more I used this- power? The worse I got. It wasn't enough to stop that thin-” He coughs and blood comes up, he sits himself down, “Where are they?” He coughs, “Basement probably- Isn’t safe to be up high at this point. Careful though, the sludge out there burns bare skin.” I sigh as he looks up at the ceiling, “Won’t be long now.” I walk outside the hotel room. Hope you go to heaven, kid. My boots squish in something. I look down, a pool of black stains the floor, the walls. I gulp and carefully walk through the hall. Just like any hotel, the halls are painfully quiet.
The wall inflates, is it breathing? I wince and tip-toe through it. A scream upstairs, a series of loud pounding, something runs towards it. I turn the corner, pods line the walls, an arm hangs from one, What the hell? I march through, I grab my heart and kneel, “Gah!” Loud pounding comes from upstairs, towards me. My body’s on fire. It gets closer and closer as I wince. I pant as the pain subsides and stand back up. The pounding stops, right above me. A sudden sense of danger makes my body tighten and I just run for it, arms pop out and reach for my help. Something slams through the floor behind me.
It screeches and pounds towards me as I grab the railing, I stop myself from going over, 5 floors down lies the reception area, not a demon or anything in sight, just that black sludge. I turn around and giant hairy legs pound like pistons towards me, knocking off black sludge trapped on them. It grabs onto the corners and leaps straight at me. I run and slide straight under it. It crashes to the reception below as I roar in agony. Black goo steams off my bare skin, a mind-numbing pain.

My heart! I grab it as the giant spider pounds up to me, Am I getting worse?! I shake my head, stand up and limp away, the black goo still burns. I feel my body losing energy, but it’s starting to slow down- It screeches at me. I turn around and it raises its front legs at me. He towers over me easily. That's one big ass spider.
It crawls towards me with crazy speed. Screw it! I run towards it and it swoops in to bite me. I grab it’s filthy mandibles and dig into the slippery floor best I can, disgusting fluid spews at me as I twist hard as possible. To my surprise, I swing him over the railing again. I slap against the floor as he falls onto the fountain with a violent scream. He tries to move, but he got stabbed pretty good. I run down the stairs and look at the damn thing.
It scrapes into the black sludge floor, I tilt my head. It draws little spiders, pointing away from herself. I look up at her face. The light in her eight eyes start to fade. I look down and stare at the drawing. I frown and hear my boy shouting at me. Screams of children come from below-
I march downstairs and the agent that got pulled off the tank- He laughs and walks away with a bloody fist in the air, "In peace, prepare for war." I run past dead soldiers in differing uniforms and turn the corner. I just freeze, the kids didn’t stand a chance. I gulp, human fists caved their heads in. No sludge, only blood covers the walls- That guy's bloody hands! I run after him. “Where are you!?” The ground rumbles again. I run towards the exit as concrete slams down all around me. I reach the exit and an army of demons screech-
They leap at me immediately. I punch as best I can. Blades slice against me, but I roar and kick it into high gear, desperately kicking, punching. Past the horde, that guy runs towards the blockade. I roar and charge towards him, pushing over every demon in my path. He looks back as an army of tanks plow past us. They fire into the demons as I roar,
“You fucking killed them!” “No! I saw you! Demon!” I’m faster than him, even at my age. The sharp pain comes back, the death grip on my heart, I tumble over and scrape my chin against the dusty ground.
