BEGINNING OF BASTION, Book 1: HOME
15 Mortus, planet of the dead

15 Mortus, planet of the dead

"Let her go!" They raise their guns and open fire. I charge and bullets crack into me. I reach them and punch through a guy's body armor like it's jello. I snap another's neck and grab his gun. I fire wild at them. Men on the wall behind me hop down. "Take him down!" I run away and ram the gate we came through.

Tanks point towards me and men hide behind barricades. The speakers shout, Surrender! You're surrounded! The smell of death fills the air and their hearts beat so loud. Sunny's in cuffs. If I lose focus, it'll take over again.

A bullet penetrates my skull. I reel back and roar. They want to see a monster? Fine! Let's go!

The soldiers start firing at me, "You will pay for them all," Black sludge covers every part of me. My body grows, "You hear me?!" Every time I slam them down, my arm squeezes the life out of them. Snipers try to take me out, but I fire back with the bullets lodged inside of me, one by one.

I take a breath and the tanks take aim. The man in charge gets on the speakers again. There's no way out of this! Come quietly!

I roar and charge at the tanks. They all fire but to no avail, I cleave down on a tank and it's tank explodes. It's armor plates sink behind my extra skin to soak up even more bullets. I yell out in pure, bleeding rage, "I'll kill all of you!"

"Why won't he go down?!" "Clear out! Clear out!" They run away as a giant laser blasts down from above and it hits me. I look up as Lady Liberty's laser burns through my meat-suit like jelly. I forgot about Lady Liberty. My body tightens on it's own, until all the ooze, metal, and bullets, and bone explode outwards like the biggest, baddest nail bomb towards Liberty.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The laser stops and I fall to my knees, all the pain hits me, all at once. I'm back to normal? Not now! They hold me at gunpoint, the commander walks up and pulls out a pistol. I snarl at him, "You killed them. You gave the-"

He whacks me across the face with the grip, pushing me onto my back, "You think america will accept you!? You are feared! A terrorist!" He walks over to Sunny and his gun goes against her head. "Well then, ladies f-" Before he pulls the trigger, I instinctively zoom up and smack his gun away. "You say the world won't accept us, well....lets make a deal!"

"What kind of deal?!" I back up while my bones snap and pop. "I gather others like me, we will live to a confined area. We aren't killed unless we attack you. We have rights from the United Galaxies Constitution, in said confin-" They aim their guns at me, "I can't make deals with terrorists. I'm sorry!"

"Dallon!" They open fire and I fall, but I'm fine. I look up when they stop, "I'll never stop fighting you, unless you strike for peace." His eyes widen as he looks into my eyes. His hands fall when he looks around him, destruction everywhere. Up above, Part of Lady Liberty's on fire. I actually hit it?

He waves, "Move out, men!" They all march off, with plenty of bodies to carry back. "You get your peace, for now!" Sunny walks up to me with a hand over her mouth. "Oh my god! Are you-" I lay here with a smile, my body soaks up bodily fluids like a sponge, "I did it to protect you." My body heals on it's own as the sludge slowly fills my pores.

She sits next to me, "He'll be back, DH. When he does, he'll end up killing all of us." "Things are going to get a lot worse than that, Sunny." I laugh as the ships flee off Martus. Now I defend my home. Did I do the right thing?

I sigh, My life flashes before the endless sky.
