I pull myself up out the pool of sewage. I exhale and lie down. Buildings battered in the corners of my eyes. The smell of death and concrete linger in the air, bringing in a fresher scent to the sewage. What's left of the mushroom cloud, passes above me via the wind.

Am I even lucky? I touch the back of my head and look at my fingers, I'm bleeding green?!

I blink and it's red. My head got hit too hard back there. Gotta clean it. But radioactive- Gunshots come from the distance, I struggle to my feet and look up to the sky.

In the distance, there's our fleet, among them, Lady Liberty. The radioactive cloud heads their way. Right, there should be a perimeter set up to take in survivors. I start walking as offices, homes, all buildings fall apart slow, bit by bit.

A mile in, I can see the perimeter, just outside the city. I gulp at the sight, corpses in piles and left scattered before the perimiter. Not too tight, but they have trucks patrolling. A couple tents, white suits. Some black creatures hide from their view, but also civilians. I wave to them and a flash comes into my view. A bullet smacks the ground next to me. I jump at the sound, That was just a warning. But why? They can see my camo, right?

I put my arms up, like "what the hell?" I grab for- Their dogtags, I couldn't hold on to a single one. I put my hands up and start walking their way. Not too far from them, one shouts, "Smoke color!" I point towards the civillians behind debris, "Survivors over there!" "Smoke color, soldier!" I put my hands down, "Pink!"

He walks up with a Geiger Counter and gags, "Oh god. What the fuck happened to you?" He waves it over me and gags again, "I'm the only one."

He grabs his mouth, "Huh? Oh god- that smell!" "I was the on-" He grabs his knees and pukes. I get closer, "Need help-" He waves, "Tent- Now." He retches as I head towards one of tents. A guy in a white suit comes out, he looks down at me through his gas mask. "What in the hell?" He waves a Geiger Counter, "You're fine?" I shake my head, "Sewer saved us for a time."

Vibrations pound against my forehead. Gunshots come from behind me. I turn immediately to find shadows shooting at innocent ones. They're running away from the chaos and they shoot them? It can't be.

"Lasal.." I turn back to the doctor, "I need to take a look at that head wound." "Oh." I look back and the shadows are gone, "Uh, yeah. Go ahead."

He touches the wound and I wince, "You were in the sewer?" "Yeah, got sucked through to a pump station."

"How is this so clean? There isn't any dirt, nothing." I shrug and turn around, "What the hell happened here?"

He pauses, then speaks, "Uhh, we just followed orders." I raise a brow, "What does that mean?"

"It means we suffered civillian casualties." I march with purpose, he scoots back and puts his hands out, "Take it up the chain, man." I growl, "Just patch me up."
