Jon just stares ahead at the wall as the car teeters him. "The Governor's gotta die." I sigh, no Jack to lighten up the mood. Jean's lips tremble under that out-of-place medic's helmet, "She was already dead. Why kick her?" Norbert looks back at us, "Try killing him, Humble guys are dead set on killing demons, soldiers don't like us either. Damn Patriots." It's a shame Dave ain't here to back us up neither. I shake my head, "We gotta do somethin" Jon calls out, "Diesel?" I look his way, "I told her not to." "You knew her?" He stares at the ground with a pout, "She was always tougher." "Than you?" He wipes his face, "All we ever had was patience. For a better life, better rights." I open my mouth and he points, "We deserved better!" I press my lips together, He ain't wrong. I frown, "Y'all couldn't even get close to a good start." "And Mama, she just wants to bide time." He hesitates, then comes out with it, "I have to make that good start. But- Will Mama be okay when I'm gone?" Jean frowns, "You're leaving?" I smile, "You sure that's what you want?" He takes a second, then nods.

Norbert shouts, "Look alive!" I peek out the bulletproof sheeting, Demons. Unmoving and hunched over. One twitches and hops straight at me. He smacks against the truck and bounces off. I burst out laughing, dumb ugly monsters. I open the door as one runs up. It leaps at me and I punch it away. I glance over to my arm, black goo wriggles towards my open wound. I scrape off a layer of skin quick. It stings, but that stuff's off me. Norbert turns on the radio, "Scout team, Splendora's clear." I seal the door and Jon gets on the turret. "Burn em' Jon!" Red fiery light comes from the windows, violent screams surround us.
