Rubble's all around me, the first things I see is Sunny, little Suzie, and my stupid little radio. "Hey! Wake up you guys!" My father is buried under a bunch of bricks, with his head caved in by a few of them.

Sunny gets up and picks up Suzie, "Oh my god! Mister Hart!" Sunny tries to help him, but I pull her back,. "We gotta find help, Sunny." I flip on the radio, *These storms were random-I think we shouldn't have left Ferron to find other life! H-y, wh-they're jamm-us!*

We go search for anyone in the broken suburbia, we watch the military spaceships landing in the distance. "I'm hungry, brother." Suzie's now pitch black skin almost makes me drop her.

Sunny stops waving to the ships and looks at Suzie, "What the hell?!" One swoops down, I point at it, "Here comes a dropship!" It lands and the airlock doors open wide, out come soldiers with machince guns. Suzie hops out of my arms and before I can speak, they point guns at us. "We heard what happened, we're here to bring you to safety!"

My sister starts flailing on the floor. Immediately, I start to run to her, but a man fires at my feet to stop me in my tracks. "Don't go near her! She's infected like the others!" Bone fragments pop out of her and her muscles grow out of proportion.

"Get behind us!" Sunny and I get behind them, then Suzie charges at us. "Meat! Hungry!" I cover Sunny's eyes and watch her get gunned down like a dog. She lands on her face, and scrapes against the road for a moment. "Don't worry, you're both safe no-"

They all point their guns at me now. "Both of you get back!" We back up, but Sunny backs away from me. My skin is now black, like Suzie's. My arms start to feel stronger and the soldiers start to look delicious. Their warm blood, even ski- Sunny inches further away, I hold out my hand and shake my head off the thought. "Please don't shoot us, I can control it!" They shoot me, then they shoot at her, my arm extends, blocking the bullets with a large, bony plate. "I told you! I-" They keep firing at me as bone plates form on the outside of my chest, like an armor.

Their guns click, a part of me felt good about that sound of their vulnerablity. "I told you, I-I can control it!" The bone plates and dead...matter just fall to the floor. I gasp for air and the bloodlust goes away. A soldier drops a thermos "There's a map in there, we are moving all the refugees there." They run, shaking back into their ship and fly towards the capital.

As Sunny grabs the thermos and takes out the map, I approach her slowly. She quickly backs away, "What are you?" She holds

We get in the car and Sunny starts crying, "Suzie..." I find the keys under the visor, but my hand shakes as I try turning the key. "Don't tell me we're going there!" Sunny dries her tears as she grabs a shovel. "They killed Suzie!" She starts shovelling coal into the car's furnace and the car starts off slow. "And they'll kill us too!" Just as the car's speed finally maxes out, a man waves on the right ahead, so I pull the brake.

"We can't pick him up, what if he's-" After the car comes to a halt, I get out. "You alright?" The man starts to fidget like crazy, "I'm sorry, I can't stop myself!" He scratches and inches closer, so I put up my fists, "Hey! Fight it! Control yourself!"

The man slowly stops fidgeting and bone fragments drop to the ground, "Ok..Ok..I'm sorry." Walking around the car, I notice under all the blood, he's in uniform, "Ok, lets go over here and trade information." We walk over and I sit down on a fallen tree, "How do you control it?"

He tenses up his arm and groans, it turns into a double sided blade. "You tense up and it just happens. I had to use it, soldiers would've killed me." "Yeah, they said we were inected?" He sniffles, "I felt weak after I used it, so I-I" He spits out blood and I scoot away, "You ate them?!" He continues, "Everyone I came across, was...different. Some could even absorb fire, tried to fuckin burn me. I'm pretty sure anyone who didn't change, is dead." He tries to follow me back to the car, "Can I tag along please? Please!"

His footsteps grow louder until I feel something go through me, I look down, a bone blade retracts out of me, "Dallon!" Sunny runs out of the car. I quickly turn around, tense up my arm and punch his face with all my strength.

My fist stretches completely through his skull. I pull my hand out, my arm returns to normal as soon as he drops. I cover my mouth and back up towards Sunny. The man reaches out a hand, "Please...I'll die out here!" She grabs my hand and drags me back to the car. She hands me the shovel and I hop into the back.

Sunny turns the key and starts driving. We feel the air hitting our faces through the broken out windshield, "What are we going to do when we get there?" Through the gusts of wind, I squint at Sunny, "I'm gonna kill em' all!" "Please, Dallon!" My fist finds the metal wall pretty well. "Damnit! We're outta coal!"

No matter how much air I pump in, the flames keep dying down. "Don't worry, We'll get more." I growl as she opens the thermos, "Damn it!" "DH, they said it's a refugee camp, you think that's right?" Her starry eyes bring a warmth to my heart.

"It's a trap, Sunny." "Then why do you wanna go there?" I scoff as she raises her brow, "You'll get killed just like Suzie."

I hop out the car and slam the door. Luckily we stopped before the open road. Sunny hops out and I scan across the

supposedly evacuated town.
