Eina’s skills have become rustic over the past few weeks, so I defeated her easily in our sparring.
I have expected this, but it is still disheartening to see her struggling against some of the techniques she once executed perfectly. Still, her reflexes and speed remained the same, which I am thankful for. With a week’s training, she could regain some of her lost edge in combat.
After that, we spent most of the day together at the park, eating on a blanket in the soft grass. We talked about many things; our lives in this city, how we will return to our homeland once everything is over, and our future as lovers. We still live in enemy territory, and we don’t know what tomorrow would bring.

Later this afternoon, we went back to our usual routines. I would have wanted to spend more time with her, but we still have work to do—she with her caretaking duties, and I as a Slayer.
I do not expect her to sleep with me tonight, so I will spend my time researching more about the history of Thuron. The book I am reading now details an interesting tale about the kingdom’s foundation...
