Day 4,591
I didn’t realize that we’ve been doing this mission for more than a month until I found out that we are running out of food.
With the previous attacks and revelations, I had completely lost track of time. Nevertheless, the truth cannot be denied; our supplies are low, and with more than three hundred mouths to feed, we won’t last two weeks.
We gathered for counsel in Adren’s tent, all the commanders and Platinum-ranked Slayers, and we agreed that something must be done or else we will die of starvation. In the end, we decide to test out the local fauna for anything we can eat. Though the memories of our comrades who died by poison still lingered in our minds, we have no choice but to act.
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
Fortunately, some of us brought several Maharak corpses for studying, and we found out there were still plenty of their meat left. Thus, our dinner for tonight consisted of dried fruits and roasted Maharak legs, which I’d never dreamt of eating at all.
The taste was… passable. And it didn’t seem to affect us, which is a good sign. I still prefer common meat like pork and beef, but Maharak has a strange taste that the others don’t have. More salty, and just a bit tender.
With this, we will begin experimenting on every monster that will attack us, which no one objects to. Foraging might be a problem since the flora is more unpredictable, but we have hope that we can still eat a few species of plants and fruits.
