Day 4,671
I spent most of our journey to the eastern mountains thinking about what that old man said yesterday. It may seem too random, but I learned throughout this mission that a tiny information like that should not be ignored, for it may have greater significance in the future.
Before we departed, I borrowed more history books from the library. Perhaps the answer lies once again in these ancient tomes, and I intend to find it. The stranger said I should not trust the past, but if I am to understand what he meant, I should know more about that past. I told this to Eina last night after another session of intimacy, and she agreed to help me; she chose to stay behind, giving her plenty of free time for more investigation.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
The trip to the eastern mountains was uneventful, and it was nearing evening when we made camp at its foothills. I am amazed by the sheer height of these peaks, so tall that they disappeared beyond the clouds. Our target lives in one of them, and I know it will be a difficult trek once we start looking for it.
The moon is full tonight though, so it will be easy to spot the wyvern. Based on the information we've gathered, it is quite large. And there may be a nest. If possible, we must destroy it; in the event that it escapes, destroying the nest would deter it from returning.
As I'm writing this, some of us are preparing to scout ahead and find any signs of our quarry while the rest settle down for a brief rest. At midnight, we will begin the hunt.
