Day 4,700
The egg had hatched, and the hatchling was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen.
It was an electric blue creature, roughly a foot from its tiny snout to its little tail, with wobbly legs and a row of nubs running along its spine. Its eyes were the brightest azure, and I was mesmerized when the wyvern’s gaze fell on me. It was the same I felt when I first held a newly-hatched Aderyn in my arms.
We named the wyvern Alrator, which means “strong” in the old tongue. With him, we could put our mind at ease; as soon as he was big enough, our hunting missions would be easier. Moreover, owning a wyvern will be imperative once our business has grown and our influence has spread.
Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
I was assigned to be Alrator’s owner, considering my experiences with Aderyn. And though they are of different species, a dragon and a wyvern are alike in some ways. They are both fierce, loyal, and intelligent. I will not have any problems with Alrator. However, since I am going on hunting missions, spending more time with Alrator would not be possible.
Thus, Eina is once again in charge as his caretaker. And she was happy about it, but I could see the disappointment in her eyes. Ever since we settled in Tumrok, she has never gone out for hunting missions. I guess she is getting tired of staying in the city; as a Slayer, combat against monsters is our second nature. She missed that life already.
Maybe I will take her out on our next mission. It is time she returns to her initial purpose, and she could use the exercise. But with a month of peace and quiet life, her skills may have diminished. I think it is time I spar with her again.
