Opulent (adjective): rich, luxurious; wealthy
The man had no luggage, but carried immense weight.
Behind the curtains of the national museum gallery, he had just flicked a small switch, unlocking the display case of one of the most monumental and honored artifacts present. They were a set of earrings and necklaces, dating back to tribal ages, a megalith for historians and an opportunity for thieves.
He didn’t do much. He wasn’t the one planning the theft. He didn’t infiltrate any security systems. The tampered footage wasn’t his doing. For goodness’ sake, he wasn’t even getting a piece of that ancient jewelry.

All he had to do was to flip that switch. That’s it. That’s all the masked man told him. After that, he could simply push the blame on a nameless guard and go back to his job doing museum art evaluations, all the while receiving a handsome amount in return for his contribution. It was more money than he’d ever made, studying art history, analyzing masterpieces, or even making art himself. He could at last decorate his home with the luxurious graces that he hungered for, all for a task as simple as that. He wasn’t even involved in the crime.
However, no matter how empty his hands were, no matter how many times he told himself it was for his own survival, he felt a mysterious weight on his back.
