Cerulean (adjective): deep sky blue
“Hello there, small friend.”
The little green bird nearly exploded into a puff of feathers.
A few moments ago, it had spotted a pair of beautiful azure eyes in the breeze-dappled park and landed on the bench of their owner to get a closer look. Only, it wasn’t expecting those eyes to see it and acknowledge it.
Frozen solid in surprise, the bird gawked at the teenager in stunned silence.
Blue eyes, glowing like priceless sapphires under the sun's gentle shower, blinked back rather timidly. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” The gentle apology seemed to make his eyes melancholic.

Unsure of what to do, a tiny squeak fluttered from the green bird.
“Oh my, thanks for replying,” he said incredulously, scooting closer with his brilliant blue eyes wide with curiosity.
The little bird held his gaze, quietly peering into his eyes like it was looking into his soul. The gem-like eyes shone with sad hope, if a light had been lit inside a previously dark room. The solemn expression on his face bloomed into something more alive.
Silence.
“Uh… I probably shouldn’t bother you. I hope you didn’t mind the conversation.” With a sigh, the teenager shifted his gaze away, returning to his previous, unfocused stare across the emptying park.
And the little green bird took a daring leap.
Fluttering swiftly across the bench, it touched down on the teenager’s left hand and left a tiny peck. Before any further exchange could occur, it spread its wings and fled.
